Chapter 7

Viona Pov

He is a muscular man, the same light tan skin and golden eyes as his son. He first sized me up, then turned his head to his son and touched his swollen cheek.

I know he could find the heat from the slap but what can he do, this is my mansion.

"I apologize for my son's lack of manners towards little princess Viona" He said on one knee with a light bow.

Everyone was shocked, I had to admit, as protective as he is, I at least expected to give an explanation, but the scenario has changed.

"Hmph...!" I hummed arrogantly not to Mr Carter, but to Elliot who looked like he was about to faint.

He was the first to bully me in this alliance, that I have to make him remember.

"Mr Carter, your son made a mockery of my words?" I complained.

Now, just imagine a three year old saying that, I was a little embarrassed as the words sounded cute and funny instead of dominating.

He took my hand that was red from the force of the slap, bringing it close to his lips, he pecked it, making me blush. I immediately took my hand away and ran off. I had no Idea why I did that but I just wanted to leave there.

Deep down, I wanted to return and apologize. That was until I heard Nick's voice, I quickened my pace as fast as my legs could carry and fled. It was cowardly of me, I know but I just don't have the stamina to face him.

Not long after, I found my mother. She was in a conversation with The Royal pack Alpha, Mr Jones. He turned his attention to me with a smile. My mother then also noticed my presence. I smiled at them, 'If only my mom remembered what he did to her, she would stab him on sight, but still I wouldn't let him continue to talk to her.

I immediately ran into her arms as she picked me up. I began wailing loudly.

"I want daddy!..."

My cry was so loud it attracted attention.

"Okay...okay let's go"

My mother was always quick to give in to my tantrums.

Her legs were longer and faster than mine so we arrived in half an hour, such distance was nothing to a she-wolf who had battled and torn apart ten betas in her teens.

"Mommy...Do you like that Mr Jones" I ask looking into her eyes.

"Alpha Jones?"

I nodded still watching her expression.

"Not really, but he and your dad were sworn brothers since young, so...he's more or less family" she answered.

"Seriously speaking sweetie, I'm not really fond of him, and I'll like you to keep your distance also" She said

"Okay" I nodded again and it earned me a peck on the cheek, something I always loved.

"That's my good baby," She complimented.

On reaching our wing, a ruckus was caused by a maid who spilled water on a Levite pack member, claiming it was an accident.

As expected my mom went to resolve the conflict leaving me by myself again. Though I didn't mind, it was quite annoying looking for someone who is always busy with one thing or the other.

Soon enough the matter was resolved and the maid was punished. Shortly after, as if we were being followed, Mr Jones appeared with Nick at his right and Mr Carter and Elliot on his left side.

They watched the whole scene and apologized to the maid. Everyone knows it won't end easily for the maid as she caused a scene.

"We'll take if from here Mrs Noble, she's my maid I'll take care of it"

He insisted on taking the maid away.

From a distance, I noticed she is also the maid I kept across earlier. Her height is different from that of the Levites Pack maids.

But what could she have been doing...?

Collecting Intel, I forget they were like the intelligence system in the human race.

In the midst of the quarrel, my mom stood her ground. Fighting cock and nails to investigate the maid. She was still kneeling on the ground in fright, as bold as the royals were. I bet she didn't expect the other maid to retaliate. Hitting her more than once, there were both maids but one wanted to find superior. Come to think about it, what was she doing in the Levites wing in the first place?

Slapping...!

I heard the slapping from a distance, coming in that direction was Morgan, the Alpha of the light pack, together with his son Mirage. Immediately displeasure flashed across the faces of the royals. They hated the lights to no end.

Especially, Nicolas' face was twisted, I'm unable to give if it was the natural dislike of the pack or a personal Freud. With the way he stared daggers into the smiling Mirage. I have to admit even at this age, Nicolas and Mirage were the most good looking males from each pack especially as they had a competitive spirit.

Though Mirage looks quite off, he didn't have the same features as the other members, he is said to have a resemblance with his late mother. A woman no one knew off except their Alpha as he refused to disclose information about her.

Morgan stood before the already formed crowd and addressed the obvious no one dared to say.

"I believe the west wing is on the left, or am I wrong...?" He was obviously taunting Jones for his lack of control over his members.

"No father" Mirage's voice echoed in the quiet crowd as the tension kept building up.

He and Nicolas always took the spotlight in every event and gathering, both secret and public. They had the largest and most global companies, so they are always compared.

"Oh...I wonder what they are doing here?"

No one could leave despite wanting to.

I was already getting bored of the back and forth tauntings.

"I believe the packs were separated to avoid such conflict, I wonder who instigated this" After his words there were whispers in the crowd, it's not difficult to pick on what was said with a wolf hearing ability.

I was starting to doze off, my mother noticed and was about to send me with a maid when someone pulled me out of her arms. I was surprised and didn't resist at first. I was carried by Uncle Morgan which I didn't mind, but began struggling when I was handed to Mirage who was smiling, but I know better than to trust a smiling Wolf.

I was flinging my feet and trying to kick him, wishing my mom would take me back, but despite his smiling face his grip was tight. I noticed Nicolas who seemed to be about to explode but my problem was how to get out of his grip. He noticed and tightened his grip even more, though not enough to suffocate me.

"I'll take her inside," he said to my mom, who had a grateful look. Yes she trusted the light pack as she was one of them. She can be said to be the main reason they could join the Levites in their most desperate times when all hope was lost.

"Thank you Mirage" I stared in shock at my mom who looked relieved that I was in good hands. I would have preferred Nick because I know his nature, but Mirage was an unpredictable bastard, cruel to the core.

I never had any close contact with him in my past life but from the rumors he was a luxurious phycopath, a torture machine in human form, a heart breaker...and so on. I particularly never had any interest in him, not then, not now, not ever.

Immediately we got into the North wing corridor, his smile suddenly disappeared, I wasn't surprised. He has had a psychopathic nature since young, and now the only thing left was my disgust towards him. I have to admit I never liked him even a bit.

He immediately dropped me, unprepared. I landed on my butt it took almost all my willpower not to cry. I stared at him only to meet with a face full of hatred towards me. He ignored me and stood at the pillar still directing his gaze and listening to what was happening in the yard.

I had the choice but to leave myself which I did, but I still ended up back at the corridor like I was walking in circles, or did I miss my way in my own house.

I turned and stared daggers at Mirage who wasn't even paying attention to me.

"Hey...hey!" He still refused to give me attention, I intended to run back to my mother but it felt like an invisible force kept pulling me back to his side. I almost began sobbing but refused the urges of a three year old to cry when not given what I wanted. I can do that in front of my dad though but this bastard 'No way'

After a while he picked me up again, without my consent. I tried to headbutt him but he just stared at me in frustration, like he would rather be there than here, but the feeling was mutual, My sleep was more important.

"Let's go!"

"Brat!" I yelled at him, he just chuckled, not in an amused manner though. More like I was getting on his last nerve.

The morning light filtered through the stained glass windows of the ceremonial chamber, casting rainbow patterns across the polished marble floor. I stood in the center of the room, my heart racing with anticipation as Elaine adjusted the silver circlet on my head. "You look beautiful, Clara," Elaine said, her fingers deftly weaving moonflowers into my hair. "The future Beta of Thornwood Pack won't know what hit him." I smiled, though something in her tone made me pause. "What's wrong? You sound like you're attending a funeral, not a mating ceremony." Elaine's hands stilled for just a moment. "It's nothing. Just... be careful with Blake. I've heard things about him that don't add up." "Like what?" I turned to face her, but she avoided my gaze.

My mate and I decided to undergo a pack ritual to conceive because of his low fertility. Just before the ceremony, I discovered that he had conspired to replace my eggs with those of his long-lost mate, Bianca Barnes. I didn’t say a word—I simply switched the eggs back. While I was at it, I replaced his essence with that of my true mate, Josiah Ruiz. Now, twenty-five years later, Bianca stands before me, tears streaming down her face, claiming to be Izabella’s mother: “My darling daughter, I’m your real mom!” ============================== Izabella and I had just returned from an international pack alliance meeting when we were met with a scene straight out of a rogue’s tale. The grand hall of the Ruiz Packhouse was bustling with distant relatives who never usually paid us visits—all gathered as if for a grand celebration. At the center of it all was Bianca Barnes, seated on the Alpha’s throne, putting on a melodramatic performance worthy of a rogue’s den. Drake Arnold, the rogue I had once allowed to pose as my mate, was doting on her, his concern etched on his face like a poorly written prophecy. I raised an eyebrow, parked my suitcase to the side, and leveled my gaze at him. “What’s the occasion, Drake?” I asked, my voice calm but laced with the authority of a Luna.

The silk sheets felt cold against my bare skin as I stirred awake, my body aching from last night's rough handling. Dawn hadn't broken yet, but I could feel Maxwell's presence beside me, his warmth radiating reluctantly through the space between us. I kept my breathing steady, hoping he'd think I was still asleep. If I could just slip away before he fully woke... "Hannah." His voice cut through the darkness, low and commanding. "You're awake." I opened my eyes to find him sitting up, his broad shoulders silhouetted against the dim light filtering through the curtains. Even in the darkness, I could see the cold indifference in his steel-gray eyes. "Yes, Alpha," I whispered, immediately sliding to the edge of the bed. My muscles protested as I moved, reminding me of how he'd pinned me down last night, how his hands had left bruises on my wrists. "You need to leave before the sun rises." Maxwell's tone was clipped, businesslike.
