Chapter 1

On my birthday, my boyfriend married the "one who got away" at the hotel we had chosen, wearing the suit I had picked for him.

His friends were buzzing around, congratulating them and saying they were a perfect couple. I couldn't resist adding a little of my own: "May your home be filled with children."

Not long after, Daniel Olson called me. Frustration laced his voice: "Can we stop this already? This is the last time. Once I fulfill this final promise, I'll come back."

I had discovered Daniel and Cataleya's wedding through my social media feed. Daniel’s brother, Gerardo, had captured the entire event and shared it, declaring how they were destined for each other.

I forced a bitter smile as I dumped my now-cold dinner into the trash. Today was my birthday. Daniel had promised we’d celebrate together. I had prepared dinner, baked a honey spice cake, but in the afternoon, he got a call about an urgent work issue and asked me to wait.

But I waited until midnight, and Daniel never came. Instead, I was confronted with the grand spectacle of his wedding to Cataleya.

In a daze, I shoved some cake into my mouth and started watching the full wedding video Gerardo had posted. I had accidentally put too much sugar in this cake, yet I couldn't taste any sweetness.

In the video, Daniel looked as sharp as ever in the wedding suit I had picked out for him, while Cataleya, with a radiant smile, clung to his arm. They walked down the aisle, step by step, toward the altar.

As they exchanged rings under the officiant’s declarations, I found myself staring blankly at my own empty ring box. It felt as though a bullet had pierced my heart.

The rings Daniel and I had chosen for our own wedding were now adorning Cataleya's hand. Our wedding was supposed to be next month. I had spent months booking the venue, picking out the outfits, and choosing the rings, all for someone else to take my place as the bride.

I flashed back to a year ago when Daniel proposed. He dropped to one knee, no ring, no audience, just a bouquet of roses.

With eyes full of remorse, he said, "Kensley, I'm sorry. I promise once I get past this, I'll give you a grand wedding."

I accepted the roses and nodded. He held me, professing how much he loved me, saying he would only belong to me.

Yet here he was, marrying another woman.

The video continued, and after their "I do's," the officiant proclaimed, "You may now kiss the bride!" Cataleya shyly tilted her face up, and amidst cheers, Daniel pulled her into a passionate kiss.

I glanced at the pile of wedding invitations that hadn’t been sent out yet and decided to call Daniel.

When he answered, his voice was impatient. "What do you want?"

In the background, I could hear chaos and loud music. After a moment of silence, I asked, "When are you coming back?"

Just then, his brother's voice chimed in, "Hey Daniel, the wedding's over. Ready for the afterparty?"

The music quieted down, and it seemed Daniel had moved to a quieter place.

"I'm working late. Don't wait up for me. I'm busy, we'll talk when I get back. Gotta go," he said.

Before he could hang up, I said, "Daniel, let's break up."

Hearing my words, his voice turned even more irritated. Coldly, he warned, "Kensley Franklin, stop causing drama. I don’t have time for your antics right now."

The next second, the call was cut off.

Return Of The Lethal Unwanted Heiress Novel Cover

Allison was hiding in a dusty small-town garage, working as a mechanic to suppress the lethal, experimental serum freezing her veins. But a call from her estranged, wealthy father shattered her peace. He threatened to permanently freeze her dead mother's trust fund if she didn't return to the family estate immediately. That trust fund held the only key to the truth behind her past and her survival. When she stepped into the sprawling mansion in her faded hoodie, her family treated her like a stray dog. Her stepmother mocked her cheap clothes, and her half-brother called her a piece of trash. Her father tossed a vocational school enrollment form at her, telling her to learn to sew so they could marry her off to anyone desperate enough. Her perfect, porcelain-doll stepsister Gwyneth even deliberately smashed a glass of boiling milk against her own leg. "Why did you push me?!" Gwyneth screamed, crying tears of fake terror to frame Allison. "You vicious bitch! You're just as sick as your mother!" her father roared, raising his hand to strike her. They looked at her with absolute disgust, thinking she was just a stupid, uncultured hick they could easily manipulate and destroy. They had no idea that the girl standing before them was a lethal operative who already possessed all their offshore tax ledgers and darkest secrets. Allison easily caught her father's wrist mid-air, her grip like a steel vice. "I'm not going to a trade school," she whispered coldly, ripping the form into pieces. "I am going to Crestwood Academy." It was time to take back everything that belonged to her, with interest.
