My Family Wants Me Dead
Chapter 2
At the hospital, I made sure to grab the prenatal report first.
Even after Dr. Cole reassured me that the baby was perfectly healthy, I immediately tucked the report into my hands.
I thought that as long as Aiden didn’t see it, nothing bad could happen. However, the moment we stepped out of the doctor’s office, he asked me for it, just like in my last life.
My heart lurched, but I forced a smile. "Why do you need my report?"
Aiden smiled back. "I’m the baby’s father, and I’m an OB-GYN. Isn’t it normal for me to take a look?"
"Dr. Cole already said both the baby and I are healthy. Don’t you believe her?" I challenged.
"It’s not that. I just want to understand the details so that I can take better care of you."
I deliberately slipped the report into my bag right in front of him. "Well, I’m not letting you see it today."
He assumed I was just being pouty, so he played along. "Alright, alright. I won’t look. Your health is all that matters."
I clung to his arm with a smile. "I’m just going to the restroom. Then, we can head home."
Clutching my bag, I hurried away.
Earlier, I had glanced at the report, but too quickly to catch anything unusual. Now, I was determined to study it carefully and find out what it could possibly contain that turned everyone into monsters the instant they saw it.
Unfortunately, the second I reached the restroom, my stomach dropped.
The report was gone.
Panicked, I rushed back out, and there he was.
Aiden stood pale-faced, and in his hand was the report that should have been in my bag. He spotted me and strode over. Instinctively, I tried to run, but he caught my arm in a crushing grip.
His eyes blazed blood-red, locking on me. "Clara, there's no way we are having this child. We’re going for an abortion now!"
In my last life, I never understood it. Why did my once gentle husband transform the instant he saw that report?
The viciousness in his gaze was something I had never seen before.
My whole body trembled, but because I had lived this moment once already, I reacted faster.
I screamed. "Help! He’s trying to kill my baby!"
The hospital was bustling, and my cry sliced through the noise. In an instant, people gathered around us. Aiden hadn’t seen that coming
I dropped to my knees before him. "Honey, Dr. Cole said the baby is perfectly healthy! Why do you want me to abort it?"
While he clenched his jaw, his voice was low and sharp. "Shut up, you wretch!"
He tried to drag me away, but the onlookers surged closer.
One man yanked him off me. "What the hell are you doing?!"
Another voice rose, scandalized. "God, the baby’s fine, yet you still want her to abort it? You just don’t want to raise it, do you?"
"Yeah! When you were enjoying yourself, did you think about that?"
"Forcing a pregnant woman into an abortion… this is illegal. Call the cops!"
Aiden’s breath came fast and heavy while his jaw was locked tight, and his eyes were murderous on me.
Surrounded by so many witnesses, though, he couldn’t act. Then, he did something I never expected.
He smiled. With that smile pasted on his face, he dialed my parents.
