Chapter 1

Kathryne Sullivan had never imagined that the most expensive gift she had ever bought would become the final offering to a love that betrayed her.

The dark blue Patek Philippe box rested in her hand. She had spent months tracking down the limited-edition watch, planning it as Leo's twenty-fifth birthday gift and the first birthday they would celebrate together as an engaged couple.

Six months ago, she had become his fiancée, and she truly believed they were finally moving toward the future they had promised each other. Her father, Daniel, had accepted Leo, and even the powerful Carlisle family had welcomed her. For the first time, Kathryne believed she had found a love she could keep.

Until she opened the door.

The presidential suite should have carried Leo's familiar scent, but instead she was met with the heavy smell of another woman's perfume mixed with spilled champagne. She froze as she saw the man's suit jacket tangled with a woman's silk dress on the sofa, the abandoned heels near the entrance, and the scattered clothes across the room. Everything in front of her told the same truth.

Her fingers tightened around the gift box as a sound came from the bedroom.

A woman's voice. A man's laugh.

Kathryne slowly moved forward, her mind refusing to accept what her eyes were seeing.

The bedroom door was slightly open. Through the narrow gap, she saw two figures tangled beneath the sheets of the bed she had personally chosen with Leo.

The man with familiar blond hair was her fiancé, the person she had trusted more than anyone.

Leo Carlisle.

And the woman beneath him was Zoe Hayes, the rising actress whose face appeared across the city's billboards.

For a long moment, Kathryne simply stood there, watching the man she planned to marry destroy everything she believed in.

Then Zoe spoke. "Leo... what if your uncle Everett finds out about us?"

Leo laughed softly, his voice filled with arrogance. "Forget Everett. As long as I keep Kathryne happy, the Carlisle fortune will eventually be mine. And having a general as her father only makes her more valuable."

The words cut through her last remaining hope. The Patek Philippe box slipped from her numb fingers and landed on the carpet.

For a moment, humiliation and pain overwhelmed her. But instead of breaking down, something colder replaced them. She finally understood that Leo had never chosen her because of love. He had chosen what she represented.

Power. Status. A path to everything he wanted.

Kathryne stepped backward quietly and disappeared into the shadows outside the room. Her hand trembled slightly as she pulled out her phone, but her expression remained calm. She simply raised the camera and started recording.

The red light appeared in the darkness as she captured their faces, their voices, and every word that would expose them.

Then Zoe spoke again. "But I heard Kathryne's health is poor. What if the shock is too much for her?"

Leo's answer was immediate. "She's always taking medicine. What could happen to her? Behave, and I'll give you the endorsement deal next quarter."

Kathryne recorded everything without moving. Then she switched to photo mode and captured several clear images. Each photo became undeniable proof of what had happened.

After saving everything, she placed her phone back into her bag and looked at the bedroom one final time. The love she once had for Leo was gone.

Kathryne picked up the gift box and walked away silently. The elevator doors closed behind her, separating her from the room that had changed everything.

Only when she was alone did she notice the slight tremble in her hands. The reflection in the polished steel showed a pale face and calm eyes.

She lowered her gaze, unlocked her phone, and sent Leo a message.

"Happy birthday. I have a gift for you. Check your email."

At the same time, she attached the video and photos to an email sent to his private account.

The subject line was simple.

"The End."

She pressed send.

When the elevator doors opened, Kathryne walked into the hotel lobby. She took a quiet breath and continued forward, carrying the last piece of her old life with her.

She didn't notice the tall man standing in the shadows near the marble pillar. His cold eyes followed her every step.

He had seen everything.
