My Boyfriend Played Me for a Level Up! Chapter 1

It is said that everyone has a "love level" above their head. The more relationships you’ve had, the higher your level will appear.

But for someone like me, who has never been in a relationship, nothing appears above my head, and I can’t see anyone else’s level either.

Therefore, in this age where people often use love levels as casual conversation topics over tea and meals, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for me to blend in with my surroundings.

I can feel the contempt in others' eyes when they look at me, and it makes me feel inferior.

Later, I stood from a height, looking down on them as though they were ants.

After the hundred-and-eighth encounter with a colleague mocking my zero-level, I decided to try blind dating.

I awkwardly sat in a corner of the café, watching the man across from me speak confidently.

“When I studied abroad in the UK, I witnessed many things you wouldn't believe. Do you believe it ever snows in March?”

The man opposite me was dressed in a suit, with his shirt collar buttoned all the way to the top, his tie perfectly neat. His hair, which must have been slicked with several pounds of gel, reflected the light from every angle, while his white socks peeked out from beneath the table where his legs were crossed.

Oh, and every time he picked up his cup, he made sure to "casually" show off his watch, studded with diamonds, the signature accessory of successful people.

These things combined gave me an odd feeling of "Look at me, this will blind you, you fool."

“But sometimes it does snow in Northan City in March,” I couldn’t help but quietly rebut.

He didn’t seem to hear me and continued talking as if on a roll: “The morning would be sunny, then by noon, it would start to snow heavily, and by the afternoon, it would be a beautiful sunny day again. No wonder British gentlemen love talking about the weather.”

Those in the know understood he was talking about the weather, but those who didn’t would have thought he was reciting poetry.

“The snowflakes falling in March are more beautiful than the snow in June, don’t you think?” he lost himself in his world. “Just like you, beautiful Miss Clara Kessler. Your beauty surpasses everything—mountains, rivers, and everything I’ve ever loved!”

This was my first blind date, and I never expected to meet someone like him. The awkwardness was so intense, I felt like I could dig a hole in the floor with my toes.

“Uh, thank you for the compliment, but the snow in June is actually a metaphor for injustice. Can I ask about your...?”

Before I could finish, he interrupted me. “Oh, no need to thank me, beautiful Miss Kessler. I wonder if I have the honor of joining you for dinner?”

I didn’t want to continue with him, but I had to learn more about his love level.

So I ignored his dinner request and asked directly, “Mr. Lung, can I ask what your level is?”

“Can’t you see it?” His expression froze for a moment when he heard my question, then he quickly shot back at me.

“No, I can’t. Aren’t you supposed to not see my level either?”

I was confused by his response.

Logically speaking, if he couldn’t see my number, he should’ve known that I couldn’t see his level either.

“I see now,” he said with a sudden realization, grabbing his briefcase. His attitude did a complete 180 as he stood up and said, “Sorry, Miss Kessler. I don’t think we’re a good match. I have work to do, so I’ll be leaving now.”

His sudden shift in attitude left me confused.

But that wasn’t the most important thing at the moment.

Although I did think we weren’t compatible, I had to stop him because…

“Mr. Lung, wait, don’t go! You still haven’t paid for your coffee!”
