My Alpha Abandoned Me for His Omega Mistress Chapter 1

The small plastic stick trembled between my fingers as I stared at the two pink lines that had appeared like a miracle. Positive. I was pregnant with the Alpha's heir.

My hand instinctively moved to my still-flat stomach as tears blurred my vision. After years of rejection and humiliation, this was my chance. The pup growing inside me would change everything.

"He'll have to mark me now," I whispered to my reflection in the bathroom mirror. "An Alpha can't leave his heir without protection."

For the first time in months, hope bloomed in my chest. I'd spent years as Nolan's chosen mate without being marked, watching him parade Hazel around while I maintained the pack house and fulfilled Luna duties without the title. But this—this precious life inside me—would finally trigger his protective instincts.

I spent the afternoon preparing a special dinner. Nolan had been distant lately, coming home late with excuses about pack business, though the entire pack knew he was with Hazel. Tonight would be different. Tonight, everything would change.

The table looked beautiful with candles and his favorite meal—venison steaks with herbs from our garden. I smoothed down my dress, a soft blue that matched my eyes, and touched the unmarked spot on my neck where his claim should have been.

"He'll want to mark me tonight," I told myself again, trying to believe it. "He has to."

By eight o'clock, the food had grown cold. By nine, I'd wrapped the dishes and put them away, my hope dimming with each passing minute. At ten, I heard the front door open.

"Elena?" Nolan's voice called out, not alone.

I stepped into the entryway, my smile freezing when I saw Hazel clinging to his arm. Her Omega scent filled the room—vanilla with something artificial underneath, like cheap perfume trying to mask something rotten.

"You're late," I said softly, my eyes fixed on their intertwined fingers.

Nolan's expression was strange—almost guilty, but not quite. "We need to talk."

Hazel smirked, her eyes gleaming with triumph. She wore a new dress, probably bought with pack funds meant for Luna expenses.

"I have something to tell you too," I said quickly, stepping forward. "I'm—"

"I've realized something important," Nolan interrupted, his voice taking on that Alpha tone that made my wolf cower. "The Moon Goddess made a mistake."

The room seemed to tilt beneath my feet. "What?"

"This chosen mate bond." He gestured between us dismissively. "It's not right. My soul doesn't recognize you, Elena."

Hazel pressed closer to him, her hand sliding possessively around his waist.

"My soul belongs to Hazel," he continued, his eyes cold. "I'm going to step back from pack duties for a while. We're going to travel through the human world together."

The words hit me like physical blows. Each syllable a rejection I'd been dreading but never truly believed would come.

"But I'm—" My hand moved to my stomach again.

"You'll be fine," he cut me off. "The pack will take care of you until I decide what to do about our arrangement."

Arrangement. Not bond. Not future. Arrangement.

The next morning dawned bright and clear for the Pack Run. I hadn't slept, my mind replaying Nolan's words over and over. Still, I joined the pack at the edge of the forest, determined to maintain appearances.

"Stay near the center of the group," Beta James advised kindly, his eyes concerned. He knew something was wrong.

I nodded, grateful for his kindness but unable to explain. How could I tell him that his Alpha had abandoned his pregnant mate?

The run started well enough. My wolf was sluggish from exhaustion and morning sickness, but I kept pace with the main group. Then I fell behind, a wave of nausea forcing me to stop and retch behind a tree.

When I straightened up, the pack was gone—except for three rogues who had somehow circled back.

"Well, look what we found," the largest one growled, his eyes fixed on my neck. "An unmarked she-wolf."

I backed away, my hand protectively covering my stomach. "My pack will be back soon."

"Your Alpha already ran past," another rogue laughed. "Didn't even look back."

A terrible howling echoed through the trees—the attack signal. The rogues grinned, closing in as my wolf whimpered inside me.

"Please," I begged, curling around my stomach. "I'm carrying a pup."

The first rogue lunged just as shouts erupted from down the path. I braced for pain, but instead heard Nolan's voice:

"Protect Hazel at all costs!"

I looked up through my tears to see him standing at the edge of the clearing, surrounded by warriors. His eyes met mine for just a moment before he turned away, pulling Hazel behind him as they retreated.

Three rogues against one pregnant she-wolf.

As they advanced, I realized with crystal clarity that Nolan had truly abandoned me—and our unborn child—to die.
