Chapter 5

Diego Rivas stood in the middle of the ring, feeling the weight of the challenge on his shoulders. As the fight started to decide the future of their leader and pack, the pack stood together, their nervous whispers filling the air. Mariana Pérez stood to the side, her heart racing as she watched Diego get ready for battle. She wanted to scream and tell him to stop, but she couldn't. Fear, confusion, and something deeper, love, made her body freeze. Could she really watch him put everything on the line for power after everything he had done to her?

"Mariana, you should stop him," Raquel Cordero said softly as she stood next to Mariana. He's not just trying to take over the pack. "He's fighting for you and your family."

"I can't decide this for him," Mariana said in a voice that was barely a whisper. He has to do it on his own.

Hugo Martín, a tall, fierce Alpha, stepped forward and challenged Diego. "I'm Hugo Martín. The Rivas Pack is weak, and I'm here to get what I want.

Diego stood tall and didn't back down. "You have to be crazy if you think you can take this pack from me." I worked hard, bled, and stayed loyal to make this. "You'll have to do more than that."

Hugo lunged at Diego with a snarl, and the fight started right away. But Diego was faster; he ducked and hit Hugo with a powerful blow that made him fall back. The crowd watched with their eyes glued to the fight that would decide the pack's future.

Mariana's heart sank when she saw Diego get hit in the face and his lip split open, blood dripping down his chin. But Diego didn't give up. He stood tall, with determination in his eyes.

"Diego!" Mariana whispered, but the crowd was too loud for her to hear.

Mariana couldn't stay still any longer, so she moved forward, but Raquel got in her way. "You can't go out there. He has to do this on his own. "You have to trust him."

Mariana's breath stopped. "Raquel, do you trust him? After all he's done to me? "After what he did to us?" Her voice broke with emotion. "I can't just sit back and watch him kill himself."

Raquel's eyes got darker. "Diego's decisions have hurt more than just you." But this... this is a test of everything he's done. "You can't get in the way now."

Mariana thought about it for a moment. She didn't know whether to stop the fight or let Diego deal with the consequences of what he had done. After that, something changed in her. She knew that if she stepped in now, she wouldn't be saving him; she'd be letting him keep running away from the truth.

As the fight went on, Mariana saw Valentina Ruiz standing outside the circle, watching with a cold, calculating look. There was something strange about how Valentina watched the fight. How she moved and how she stayed in the background were just too perfect. Mariana's instincts kicked in.

Raquel's voice broke through what she was thinking. "Mariana, don't look at her. She is not the issue.

Mariana looked at Raquel, confused. "Who is?"

Raquel's eyes got darker. "It's her." Valentina Ruiz has been in charge of everything. She has been using Lucia and Diego's weaknesses to make you two fight. "She's the one in charge."

Mariana's heart stopped for a second. "What do you mean? She has been in charge of Diego? Her voice was so low that it was hard to hear.

Raquel nodded. "Not only Diego. She has been controlling the whole group like puppets. "Now she's going to take over."

Mariana's blood turned cold. Valentina, the other Alpha who had always wanted Diego's job, was behind everything. But why? What did she want to happen in the end?

It hit Mariana like a slap; she was so focused on her own pain and betrayal that she didn't see who the real enemy was. Valentina wasn't just a rival; she was the one who caused the problems that made Diego and Mariana break up.

Mariana's heart raced as she ran toward the ring, and her legs moved faster than her mind could keep up. She couldn't let Valentina win. She couldn't let her ruin everything Diego had worked so hard for.

She got to Diego and yelled, "Diego! It's not him! "It's her!"

Diego turned around, and his eyes showed that he was confused. He stopped for a moment, giving Hugo a chance to hit him. But before the punch hit, Mariana ran at Valentina and tackled her to the ground.

Diego looked back and forth between Mariana and Valentina, and the crowd gasped. "Mariana!" he yelled. What's going on?

But Mariana, who was very angry, held Valentina down and twisted her face in rage. "You think you can just take everything away from us? You have been playing both sides, but that stops now.

Valentina, who was very angry, pushed Mariana away. "You don't know what you're really up against."

The air around them seemed to change before Mariana could say anything. Lucia Torres came to the edge of the compound and walked toward Diego with an envelope in her hand. Her face was pale and her eyes were wide with fear. She saw Diego and walked over to him, shaking.

Lucia said, "I have what you need to know, Diego," and her voice shook. "The key to your family tree." The secret that could either save the family or ruin it all.

The group was quiet as Lucia's words sank in. Diego's heart raced. What was this? What did Lucia know that could change everything?

Mariana stood still, her eyes wide with disbelief as she saw Lucia walk up to Diego, the envelope shaking in her hands.
