Chapter 2

When I came around once more, I was still in the hotel.

The doctor was next to me, dressing my wounds, while Philip was asleep by the side of my bed.

I scanned around to see Rosa entering with a bowl of chicken soup. The frost on her face melted, and she looked at me tenderly. It would have made me forget that she was the one who left me in the wilderness.

"Fred, I was wrong for thinking you were faking your injuries. Can you forgive me? I made you chicken soup."

I furrowed my brows at the bowl of chicken soup. Rosa never once made chicken soup for me.

At that moment, Jack, with his arm in a cast, said, "Rosa, your cooking's still as amazing as always. Can you get me another bowl?"

My hand trembled as I took the spoon, almost spilling it on me.

Rosa beamed at Jack, immediately helping him to his feet. "Jack, you're such a sweet talker as always."

Jack smiled at her dotingly. "It's only for you, silly."

I immediately felt nauseous once I took a sip of the soup. I vomited.

Jack said, "Fred, does it taste that bad? This is Rosa's secret recipe!"

Rosa's expression turned ugly. She went up to me and snatched the bowl of soup away from my hands. She did it so quickly I couldn't even react.

The soup splashed onto me. My wounds burned in excruciating pain. I was in so much pain, I trembled violently as if epileptic.

Rosa smashed the bowl of chicken soup on the floor. "Fred, I was kind enough to make you chicken soup. Are you so disgusted by it? You can stop pretending! It's not like the chicken soup spilled on you!"

Did she not see me covered in soup?

The soup was not meant for me. It was only leftovers, yet she made it seem like she did it for me.

My heart sank in disappointment.

Rosa saw me trembling and my teeth chattering. She went up and grabbed me by my hospital gown. She snapped at me with a glare, "Stop trembling! Are you deaf?"

I did not want to. I just could not control it. I was in too much pain.

Rosa had no choice but to let me go. At that moment, Philip was woken up by the commotion I was causing. When he saw me in such a state, he was so frightened that he immediately went to get the doctor.

The doctor was stunned to see me in such an epileptic state. He reprimanded Rosa, "Is this how you care for your husband? The chicken soup on his wound would only make it worse! He's trembling because he's in pain!"

Rosa looked at the doctor in a daze. "Isn't he just pretending?"
