Just Giving Birth To Her Ex's Baby
Chapter 2
“Stop making things up. Brandon and I are just friends. Can’t you trust me? We’re a couple!” Heather said.
Would anyone let their friend impregnate them?
I was too lazy to argue with her. I insisted that we get a divorce, but Heather was against it.
Seeing that I was adamant, she angrily said, “Let’s take a break from each other for a few days. You should use this time to calm down.”
After that, she slammed the door and left.
In the past, she would always leave the house whenever we got into a fight. I would be anxious and frustrated as I headed out like a lunatic to beg her to come home.
Then, she would look down on me because of how pathetic I appeared. She would only forgive me after I admitted repeatedly that I was wrong.
However, I remained very calm this time.
I had pursued her for six years before she agreed to marry me.
Brandon loomed over our four-year marriage like a shadow, but I could not even complain about it. Otherwise, she would say that I was petty.
After a while, I saw a new post from Brandon on his social media. [The person who loves you the most will always be by your side. I have no regrets in life because I have you!]
He posted a photo of Heather peeling an apple next to his hospital bed. She looked gentle and attentive.
Whenever I was sick, she would refuse to bring me a glass of water even if I asked her to. She said that she was not my nanny.
Heather commented, [I’ll always be by your side. I won’t be going anywhere!]
I laughed when I saw the comment.
Heather was certain that I loved her, hence she was so fearless.
After a while, Brandon purposely sent me a screenshot of that post.
[Will, I’m sorry, but Heather has to take care of me.]
I replied indifferently, [It’s fine. You can have her.]
Then, I immediately blocked him. It was out of sight, out of mind!
The next afternoon, my mother gave me a call and asked me to hurry home.
I thought that it was something urgent. When I entered through the door, my mother excitedly asked, “Is Heather pregnant?”
Our neighbor had bumped into Heather when she went for a prenatal checkup. She then informed my mother after she came back.
I pursed my lips. “She’s pregnant, but it’s not my child.”
My mother was dumbfounded.
“What do you mean?” my father asked with a frown.
I told them the entire story and finally said, “I plan to divorce her.”
“She’s so shameless for doing such a thing! I’m so angry. I’m going to talk to her mother about this,” my mother said.
However, my father stopped her. “Let it go. Will is planning to divorce her after all. Why do you still want to talk to her mother?”
I nodded. “Mom, Dad, let’s ignore her. From now on, I just want to focus on my career.”
Back then, my parents were against our marriage. According to them, Heather was too ambitious and it was written all across her face. She was not the type of woman to marry. But they could not change my mind, so they accepted defeat.
When I recalled their reasoning, I realized that we were really not compatible.
My father patted me on the shoulder. “That’s right. Your mother and I will support you. We don’t want a daughter-in-law who’s a cheater!”
After that, he took out his phone and showed me the balance in his account.
“This is your starting fund. If it’s insufficient, I’ll sell off some of my stocks.”
My eyes lit up. “Dad, how do you have so much money?”
“We’ve always been rich,” my father said smugly.
It turned out that my parents had been worried that I would give Heather everything because I was so in love. Hence, they did not reveal their wealth to me.
Besides, they kept a very low profile. They stayed in a regular residential building, so Heather thought that we were not rich. She was not fond of visiting my parents with me.
Anyway, I started planning my future career with my father. Our thoughts were aligned, so I instantly felt a lot more confident.
Even though I had not been working for a few years, I believed that I could rebuild my career again.
After dinner, I invited some friends out for a drink.
Heather did not like it when I drank alcohol, so I stopped drinking for her in the past. I narrowed my social circle, and my life basically revolved around her.
My friends all felt that I had sacrificed too much in this marriage.
When I truly thought about it, I was always accommodating toward her through the many years that we were together. Meanwhile, she never cared about my feelings, and she was extremely selfish.
The gathering was wonderful. I drank quite a lot, and I had never felt this free in a very long time.
It was 2 a.m. when I reached home. I was surprised to see Heather waiting for me in the living room.
She stared at me coldly.
“You go fooling around when I’m not home?”
