Chapter 4

I was indeed an omega; my entire family consisted of omegas. "I could only hear her voice yesterday when you arrived," I admitted shyly, and he responded with a hum.

I struggled to maintain eye contact as he reached out, gently cupping my face. "It will be impossible to avoid my brother and his family, but do steer clear of a lycan woman named Clarice; she has an obsession with me." I was baffled. "Is she an ex-lover?" I inquired.

He chuckled softly and replied, "No, you may not know this, but a lycan can only mate with their designated partner. However, she has taken a liking to me, so be cautious; she could be your only issue." With that, he pressed a light kiss on my lips, as delicate as a feather, before pulling away.

I found myself asking, "Are you a virgin?" despite not knowing what compelled me to do so.

After nine hours, our plane finally touched down, and Alejandro woke me from my slumber. I felt a wave of shyness wash over me as we exited the airport.

What was wrong with me? Why did I have to ask such an embarrassing question? The memory of his reaction lingered, making the flight feel utterly awkward, as I couldn't shake off the feeling of shame.

Cars were arranged to pick us up, and we were not alone; he had several convoys accompanying him. We were escorted to the vehicle, and the journey from the airport to the palace took an additional two hours. By the time we arrived, it was already dark.

During the drive, I was captivated by the sheer size and beauty of the mighty pack, which truly lived up to its name.

As we stepped out, a crowd had gathered to welcome us, with everyone bowing their heads in respect. He held my hand as we walked, and even the servants and staff exuded an air of elegance.

The palace itself was vast and magnificent, adorned with ancient sculptures, making it feel like a scene from a movie. I could hardly believe this was to be my new home.

In an instant, I learned that I was mated to a lycan king and would become his queen. Moon Goddess, grant me strength, for I am uncertain of what lies ahead, I silently prayed.

The grandeur of the palace was overwhelming, Alejandro led me through the halls and they were servants at every turn, his grip on my hand firm but reassuring. I could feel the weight of countless eyes on me, their gazes were filled with curiosity, confusion and, in some cases, disdain.

We finally arrived at a set of double doors, which swung open to reveal a suite, it was warm and smelled like flowers. Alejandro turned to me, his red piercing eyes softening as they met mine, my wolf was deeply aroused. "This will be your room" he said, his voice gentle "I hope it's to your liking."

I nodded, though I was stunned to speak. The room was more luxurious that anything I had ever seen, let alone imagined, a massive canopy bed dominated the space, Alejandro stepped closer, "you should rest," he said. "Tomorrow will be a busy day."

I wanted to ask him what he meant, but before I could, he leaned down and pressed my back against his chest and my breasts became fuller and even more obvious, he gave me a killer smile and lightly kissed my forehead. The gesture was so tender and a bit rough at the same time that it took my breath away, I'm also guessing it's my wolf that likes the rough part.

I let out a small moan, then without another word, he turned and left the room, closing the door softly behind him.

I stood there for a moment, trying to process everything that had happened. Just a few days ago, I had been a bullied omega, struggling to survive in a world that seemed determined to crush me. Now, I was the mate of a lycan king, standing in a palace that felt like a dream.

I walked over to the bed and sat down, running my fingers over the soft fabric of the sheets. My wolf stirred within me, her presence more pronounced than ever. She was excited, eager to embrace this new life. But I was still hesitant, unsure if I could truly belong in a world so far removed from the one I had known.

As I lay down, I couldn't help but think about Alejandro. The way he spoke to me, the way he acts around me, it felt real and unusual, nothing like I have ever felt or experienced before and I knew my sisters would be so happy for me, but I also knew that his world was dangerous, filled with enemies who would stop at nothing to see him fall. And now, I was a part of that world.

I closed my eyes, trying to push away the doubts and fears that threatened to overwhelm me. For the first time in my life, I allowed myself to hope that maybe, just maybe, I could find happiness here.

I tried to get some shut eye and a wave of memories just hit me, I immediately remembered all my past abusers and the people that despised me and maltreated me, there was a particular one I hated the most, I tried to forget them but it was too much, I wondered how they would react if they find out now that I was mated to a lycan king.

"Will they give me the respect I deserve?" I said to myself because I felt like a deserved even just a little bit of respect from the people that previously hurt me.

I had so much to think about and I didn't know what was ahead of me, the window was open and it was a cold and quiet night," the perfect atmosphere for the weak omega."

I let out a weak sigh and I remembered my lycan's kiss and saw a glimmer of hope for the start of a new life with a mate I have always longed for beside me, I laid on the bed and wondered and wondered till I fell asleep.

My voice echoed off the wooden walls.

The tinted glass of the limousine was cool against my forehead, a sharp contrast to the fire burning in my veins. Outside, the familiar trees of the Shadow Creek territory blurred past—oaks and pines that had once witnessed my happiest childhood memories and my darkest nightmares. My heart hammered a frantic rhythm against my ribs, not out of fear, but anticipation. Beside me, a large, warm hand covered my trembling one. I turned to look at Thatcher. My mate. My King. His golden eyes, usually so fierce they could bring Alphas to their knees, were soft as they studied my face. "You don't have to do this, Malia," he murmured, his voice a low rumble that vibrated through the car's plush interior. "I can burn this pack to the ground without you ever stepping foot on this cursed soil." I squeezed his hand, drawing strength from the bond that hummed between us—a connection far deeper, far purer than the twisted tether I had once shared with Derek.

It was the Mating Ceremony, the most important day for our pack, but for me, it felt like walking to the gallows. I stood on the velvet carpet, waiting for Jacob, the Alpha heir, to claim me. Suddenly, my younger sister Bella threw herself at the Elder's feet, screaming that she and Jacob were in love. Jacob didn't deny it. He looked at me with cold calculation, announced he chose her, and publicly broke our engagement. In my previous life, this betrayal broke me. I had fought to marry him, only to become a "defective incubator" locked in a room. I remembered the bruises that never healed and the fire that eventually killed me. While I burned to death, Jacob only cared about saving Bella. Now, standing in the same spot, the crowd mocked me as "damaged goods." My father sneered, pointing to the back of the room where the "lesser" clans stood, telling me to pick a rat or a snake if I wanted to stay in the Pack House. They thought they were ruining me. They didn't realize they were handing me the key to my freedom. I turned away from the smirking wolves and walked toward the darkest corner of the room. There sat Draco, the Serpent King, a man everyone feared and despised. He was the only one who had tried to smash through the burning beams to save me in my past life. I stopped in front of him, ignored the gasps of the crowd, and extended my hand. "I choose you."
