Even on the night before her wedding, Madison found herself entangled with her fiancé once more. After one intense round, she lay in Patrick’s arms, hoping to rest for a moment. But his hands began to wander again, making her flush. “The wedding’s tomorrow,” she whispered. “Save some energy.” Patrick leaned down, his voice husky. “Be good. One more time.” And she melted, letting him continue. They carried on through the night. Finally, exhaustion overtook her, and she drifted toward sleep. In that hazy state, she felt Patrick wrap his arms around her and murmur softly. “Sweetheart, I still have some paperwork to finish. Since we’re already legally married, let’s just move the ceremony to two weeks from now.” Half-asleep, Madison barely registered his words, mumbling something in reply. It should have been a dark, dreamless sleep—but then a mechanical voice echoed in her ears.

I will lose you in the future Chapter 1

Even on the night before her wedding, Madison found herself entangled with her fiancé once more.

After one intense round, she lay in Patrick’s arms, hoping to rest for a moment.

But his hands began to wander again, making her flush.

“The wedding’s tomorrow,” she whispered. “Save some energy.”

Patrick leaned down, his voice husky. “Be good. One more time.”

And she melted, letting him continue.

They carried on through the night.

Finally, exhaustion overtook her, and she drifted toward sleep.

In that hazy state, she felt Patrick wrap his arms around her and murmur softly.

“Sweetheart, I still have some paperwork to finish. Since we’re already legally married, let’s just move the ceremony to two weeks from now.”

Half-asleep, Madison barely registered his words, mumbling something in reply.

It should have been a dark, dreamless sleep—but then a mechanical voice echoed in her ears.

**[The System is coming online. Prepare to glimpse the future.]**

White light flashed. Suddenly, she was standing in a wedding venue.

Before she could process it, she saw them: Patrick and her best friend, Ruth, standing hand-in-hand at the altar in wedding attire.

The venue… Ruth’s gown… they looked painfully familiar.

They were the ones she had personally chosen for her own wedding.

Pure fury washed over her. She took an involuntary step forward, ready to demand answers.

But Patrick’s icy glare froze her in place.

Ruth leaned against his shoulder, a mocking smirk curling her lips.

“Surprised? Marrying you was just to secure our son's place as the Madison heir.”

“You think you’re good enough for Patrick? After today, you can rot in hell!”

Madison’s eyes snapped to the ring bearer—a boy with Patrick’s face.

But she’d never had a child with him.

“Ruth just wants what’s best for our son,” Patrick said, his tone chillingly casual. “If you behave, I’ll keep you around. You know you’ve burned bridges with your parents. In front of all these people, the Madison family will disown you to save face. Just stay home, take care of Ruth and the boy. I won’t make it hard for you.”

His words plunged her into an icy abyss. Watching their intimate display made her sick.

She turned to run.

The scene shifted. An empty street at night.

Behind her, an engine roared to life.

Even through the glass, she saw it clearly—Patrick flooring the accelerator, his eyes filled with vicious intent as he aimed straight for her.

Then, immense pain. Then, endless darkness.

The mechanical voice spoke again, explaining everything.

What she had just witnessed was a glimpse of the future: their actual wedding, two weeks from now.

Madison vaguely remembered Patrick mentioning postponing the ceremony just before she fell asleep.

So the “unfinished paperwork” involved putting assets in trust for his son with Ruth.

He'd exploited her status as the Madison family's prized daughter to elevate their child, only to kill her in the end.

And they’d just signed the marriage certificate yesterday. He hadn’t wasted any time.

She felt cold to her very core.

Six years together. On the verge of starting a life.

It took a system showing her the future to finally see Patrick for what he was.

The System spoke once more.

**[Your glimpse was fueled by a future version of your own resolve. Now escape this fate and change your future.]**

Then it was gone. The weight on her chest lifted.

Her eyes opened. The familiar ceiling. Patrick, still asleep beside her.

She broke out in a cold sweat, her heart thundering.

She lay there, breathing carefully, terrified of waking him.

It still felt unreal.

But that icy stare, remembered now, sent a fresh shiver down her spine.

The terrifyingly real pain of the impact.

Even with her doubts, she slipped silently out of bed.

Phone in hand, she nervously clutched her nightgown.

To marry Patrick, she’d turned her back on her family.

She wasn’t sure her father would even answer.

“Madison? Why are you calling so late? Did that bastard do something?”

Her eyes instantly welled up.

Her father’s voice sounded older, but the concern was still there.

She swallowed the lump in her throat, forcing her voice steady. “Dad, I’ve agreed to the arranged marriage with Jeffrey.”

Her father was clearly stunned. After a beat, he responded eagerly. “Oh… good. That’s good. But your mother and I are still overseas for the new project with Jeffrey's family. If you’re sure, we’ll return in two weeks with Jeffrey. We’ll handle the marriage then.”

Madison held back her tears. “Okay. I’ll wait for you.”

The bass from the karaoke bar pulsed through my chest like a second heartbeat, each thump making my temples throb. I watched Lucca laughing with his pack brothers, his arm slung casually over Delta Marcus's shoulder as they belted out some terrible rendition of an old pack anthem. The crowd was a sea of familiar faces from Silvermoon, all here to celebrate our territory's founding anniversary. I'd been smiling for two hours straight, playing the perfect Luna-to-be, but the noise was finally winning. 'I need some air,' I murmured to Mira, who nodded with understanding before turning back to her own conversation. The cool night air hit my face like a blessing as I slipped through the bar's side door. Silvermoon territory at night was beautiful—the trees rustled gently, and moonlight painted everything in silver and shadow. I took a deep breath, letting Selene, my wolf, stretch contentedly within me. For just a moment, I could pretend I was alone with the night sky. Then I heard Lucca's voice.
