Chapter 2

"I know what kind of person my own daughter is! I'm her mother!" Riley exclaimed in my face. "I was the one who raised her from a young age! She's smart, sensible, and academically perfect! She would never do such a thing as seduce someone else!"

"That's right! We all know what kind of person Jazzy is! We've all watched her grow up under our eyes! Isn't that right, everyone?"

"Yeah!"

The crowd of relatives all agreed with each other.

I fought back my dizziness, using all of my willpower to keep myself from collapsing.

However, Raoul attacked my head with a heavy object. Blood began dripping down my collar, making me look like a bloody, disheveled mess.

I retrieved a handkerchief from my pocket and pressed it against the wound to stop the bleeding.

"Even character and personality can be faked, can't they?" I countered. "It's just like how you've all always thought that I was a good person, but now, you all think I'm a monster. If you think about it the other way, don't you think Jasmine is capable of doing that too?

"Also, I did not give any false testimonies. Jasmine clearly seduced Cedric first by tearing her clothes open, removing her underwear, and sitting in his lap. She may be young, but she has absolutely no shame!"

Jasmine completely broke down after hearing me trample all over her dignity like this.

"I didn't! I never did! You're lying! You're lying!"

Riley tightly hugged the frantic Jasmine, tears still streaming down her face.

"I must have been completely blind to have married a monster like you in the past! Isn't it bad enough that you got your own son killed? You have to go and cause the death of our daughter now too?"

The crowd around us broke into murmurs at once and began pressing her for more details. Riley then wiped the tears from her eyes and spoke shakily.

"My son, Justin Richmond, died a year ago. And do you know why he died?

"Because his father was a good-for-nothing gambler and womanizer who racked up huge debts with illegal loan sharks! They came knocking, threatening Justin and me and demanding repayment, but Alvin had already taken all our savings with him!

"We didn't have the money to pay them back, so they beat my son up instead, accidentally killing him in the process…

"I never told anyone the truth about what happened because of Alvin. I didn't want my parents to find out about it! They would never be able to take such a hit!"

As soon as her words were out of her mouth, the crown turned to glare at me angrily and resentfully.

However, I didn't care about them and simply kept checking the time on my watch. It felt like I was racing against time, counting every minute and second that passed.
