Chapter 1

Before my mother passed away, the person she most wanted to see was her beloved son-in-law, Anthony Brosnan.

She supported Anthony financially for five years, and the latter started his own business after graduating. At that time, I accidentally walked into his office and instantly fell in love with him at first sight.

However, Anthony changed after three years of marriage and fell in love with his secretary.

I called him over a dozen times, and it was the secretary who picked up the phone. "Anthony is cooking right now. Do you need something?"

Just as I was about to speak, my mother overheard the voice. Her eyes widened in disbelief, and she passed away filled with resentment.

Anthony, since I had lost my mother, you meant nothing to me anymore.

The Funeral

Time passed slowly as I sat in the mourning hall. As I recalled every moment between my husband, Anthony Brosnan, and me over the past few years, I felt that it was laughable.

After handling the funeral arrangements, I made a phone call. A sneer came from the other end of the line. "Shirley, why are you calling me now? Don't tell me you want to catch up with me and tell me all about your happy life?"

"I regret it. I regret marrying him. Alicia, my mom passed away. I…"

"Where are you? I'm coming right now!"

Alicia Coolev was my best friend. In the past, she tried to hook me up with her cousin. However, I was a fool at that time and had insisted on marrying Anthony instead.

Back then, she was furious by my decision and said, "Shirley, don't come crying to me if you're ever unhappy in the future!"

At the time, I was blissfully in love with Anthony. Who would have thought that I would surrender in defeat after three years?

When Alicia saw me, I was sitting dejectedly at the entrance of the funeral parlor while holding my mother's urn. She sighed and wrapped her arms around my shoulders while saying, "Stop crying. I'll help you get revenge. The best way to deal with scumbags who treat their wives like trash just because they're rich is to take back everything you gave him!"

Hearing her words, I took a deep breath and nodded. Then, I let her take me home.

Before Alicia left, she handed me a contract. She was giving me a trump card.

When I returned home, Anthony still hadn't come back. I ordered the servants to pack up all his belongings.

Just as they were packing, Anthony walked into the room with his secretary, Yunice Pretzer.

When Anthony saw the boxes, he was infuriated.

"What the hell are you doing, Shirley? Do you have to act like this just because I didn't go and see your mom? All you do is buy what you want and be pretty, yet you are still not satisfied with me when you yourself are a pampered parasite! I'd love to ask your mom how she raised you! You're always throwing a tantrum over the smallest things!"

"Yeah, I'd love to ask my mom too." I glared at him coldly. "I wonder why she chose to help you back then. If I could go back in time, I would rather feed the money to the dogs than give it to you!"

Anthony's face turned grim. In the meantime, Yunice nestled in his embrace and said, "Don't act so self-righteous. Your family wouldn't have helped Anthony if they didn't see the potential in him. For the last few years, Anthony worked day and night and is losing weight because of the stress. Meanwhile, you're living in luxury. Why aren't you bringing this up?"

"Yeah, right. I bet he's losing weight because he's courting two women." I scoffed. "Anthony, take your things and get out of my house!"

"Shirley!" Anthony roared.

However, I looked at him without fear. "You're just a man, and I don't want you anymore. Anthony, I want a divorce!"

"Divorce?" Anthony looked at me with disdain. "Shirley, did you forget that the company is on the verge of going bankrupt and that your mom is still sick? There's nothing else you can do besides begging me to help. If you want a divorce, fine. Give me the company shares and get your mother to tell me personally. Otherwise, forget it."

"You want to see my mom?" I chuckled coldly. "Sure, I'll take you to her." I didn't know where I found the strength as I dragged Anthony to the funeral parlor.

Looking at my mother's portrait, Anthony was dumbfounded.

"Shirley! How cruel of you! I can't believe you cursed your own mother to death just to make me surrender." Anthony hadn't expected this photo to hit him so hard.

As our eyes met, I sneered and said, "Did you think I was lying?"

"Of course! Your mom's condition is stable. I even asked the doctors about it. How could she have died? This is just outrageous!"
