A chubby weak heroine brutally rejected by her mate, the arrogant Alpha. “If I were that Luna, I would make that Alpha beg on his knees—on and off the ice.” I typed bitterly. Chapter 5

Ava’s POV

“Where is your form?” The scruffy looking man with exaggerated mouthstache said as he took another look at me.

Yes, I know I am fat, just fucking stop staring!

I yelled In my head but I was too desperate to let it out of my mouth.

“Here.” I said handling him the application form and where it had marked successful.

“A.J Lowell, is it?” He questioned suspiciously.

“Yes.”

“You dressed from home?” He said looking at my hockey gear.

“Yes, just figured I should be ready for the game.”

I wasn’t certain my voice sounded masculine enough but I put in my best as one of the articles from the internet suggested. His scrutinizing gaze pierced through my armour and almost made me give up right there, there was definitely no way I am pulling this off even despite trimming my hair and wearing a helmet.

“Well, can you really pull this off? I mean, you look….too meaty.”

“Henry, let the innocent boy be afterall, the team captain did the shortlisting himself and he is seldom wrong.” A female seated beside him said.

Team captain! Shortlisting! Isn’t that…my jerk mate?

“Alpha Killian is just desperate honey, boys like this would faint before the first match ends.”

I really hate this man right now! If only he knew what I went through to be here.

After escaping from my room, I risked it into the pack mansion wing where Avri’s family lives. Thankfully I was able to locate her mother’s room, I stole some of her possessions, money and a few of her sexy lingerie, unfortunately, her dresses wouldn’t fit.

If I wasn’t absconding, I would have lambasted the entirety of them for having such weak security around the pack house, I even tiptoed past two sleeping guards, none of them could smell me,

What was that damn werewolf enhanced smelling meant for?

Now back to my present predicament, ugly mouthstach Henry was still staring at me, still undecisive. He held the stamp high, to my relief, his “honey “ pressed his hand down to stamp my pass and I was allowed in.

Relief flooded my heart but I knew we weren’t done, getting into the team was the plan.

I walked into the pitch with an open heart. Ice spread across the area. I felt it penetrate through my skin. I was still there staring intently at the area, not that it was strange. I had played hockey all my life but today, I wasn’t petite like I used to be, I am in a chubby body that hadn’t exercised at all in years.

Coupled with menstruation cramps, Poor Avri.

“Where is your pass?” A cold deep voice questioned behind me.

I fidgeted for a split second as I stared at him in disbelief, he looked as intimidating as his voice sounded, tall with a lean frame, delicate fair skin like a porcelain jar.

Damn! Werewolves are cute!

I handed him my pass and he checked it out. Unlike Henry from earlier, he didn’t even look at my chubby figure.

“Do you have your skates?” He questioned again.

I nodded affirmatively while staring at his body. He was dressed in a black shirt but dude forgot to button it up, or probably that was intentional, I envy she-wolves right now.

“Give it over, I need to check it out, we cannot afford any accidents on the ice.”

I handed my skates over to him, I bought the very best the market could afford, even in my real world, I always go for the best skates gears.

“Great, these must be quite pricey. You can go ahead, the others are right over there, to your left, the captain will address you all.”

Captain! I felt cold shivers down my spine, finally, I was meeting up with my nemesis and he had no idea that his Karma was definitely close.

I walked down as Mr hottie instructed. I turned to my left, I saw them, some boys getting dressed right in the open. Opposite where they were, I saw him, majestically seated. Dressed in a floral shirt and shorts, if the guy from earlier could make any girl stare, Killian would definitely make the girls cry for just a look.

He was like a fucking demigod!

He had restyled his hair differently from when he rejected me. A part of it covered his face from the left highlighting the diamond shape features on the right giving him an edge. His slightly crooked nose and tiny lips brought out his curved jawline giving it total perfection.

Gorgeous mean jerk!

That was all I could think of as I approached him. I almost walked up to him when a hand stopped at my breast.

I almost screamed at the pervert before I remembered that I was supposed to be a boy.I had bound my chest properly enough to hide my perky breasts.

“Go join the others, the captain will address you soon.”

I took another look at the boy, this one wasn’t that cute but he had an athletic body and terrible attitude. I had marked his posture, I am definitely going to fuck him up on the ice.

After waiting for about an hour. Myself and four other boys who were supposed to be shortlisted were ushered to the waiting area. Alpha Killian was there with two other hockey players. Three boulders separated the distance between us. As we approached, he shouted from a distance.

“Mention your name as you climb the last step.”

Josh!

William!

Sean!

A.J!

Cole!

“A.J?” He echoed and stared at me with an unreadable expression.

“Yes captain, A.J Lowell.” I responded firmly.

He looked away and faced the other boys.

“Are you all ready?”

“Yes.” We echoed.

“I have no advice for you, neither am I handling any pep talk. You will skate against my experienced players and only one of you losers will be accepted, so give it your best shot.”

“Now Gale,” Killian said as he turned to one of his teammates, “take the losers to the ice.”

I scoffed inwardly,

Losers! Let’s see who the real loser was.

Alpha Killian would have to regret this moment, ten times over.

Author's note: Ava survived moustache man, period cramps, sexy werewolves, and Killian’s god‑forsaken beauty… all while pretending to be a BOY 😭💀. If she wins this match, someone better give her a scholarship.

The air at Moonstone Territory crackled with anticipation as our convoy arrived. Three months pregnant, I felt a rare sense of peace, one hand resting protectively over my slightly rounded belly as I stepped from the car. My wolf, Victoria, purred contentedly within me, sharing my quiet joy. "Luna Victoria!" Several Silvermoon delegates rushed forward, bowing respectfully. "You're radiant today." I smiled, accepting their compliments with a graceful nod. My aura—stronger since my pregnancy—rippled around me in waves of silver light that even humans might have sensed had they been present. "Where is Alpha Michael?" I asked, scanning the gathering crowd. "Already at the ceremonial grounds, Luna," replied a young warrior, his eyes darting away too quickly. Something cold slithered down my spine. Victoria growled softly in my mind, suddenly alert.

The nursery was the only place in the Pack House where the air didn’t feel like it was choking me. It was a small room on the third floor, far away from the Alpha’s luxurious suite—the suite that should have been mine by right, but was currently occupied by a woman who wasn't. "Mama, look," Tommy whispered, holding up a drawing. It was a crude, crayon depiction of a large black wolf standing next to a smaller, golden one. "That's Daddy. And that's me." My heart clenched, a familiar, dull ache that had been my constant companion for seven years. Tommy had never seen Remington’s wolf form up close. My mate, Alpha Remington Stevens, barely looked at our son, let alone shifted for him. To Remington, Tommy was just a reminder of a political shackle he was desperate to break. To me, Tommy was the only reason I was still breathing.

The dress was ivory. Not white — ivory. Apparently there's a difference when you're being mated off to the Alpha of the most powerful pack on the East Coast. I didn't pick it. I didn't pick the flowers, the venue, or the three hundred wolves filling the Ironveil Pack's ceremonial hall like it was some kind of political concert. My mother picked the dress. My father picked the date. And somewhere in between, they picked my entire future without asking me once. But I didn't know that yet. Not at the altar.

I stared at my reflection in the mirror, tracing the mate mark on my neck that had brought me nothing but pain for seven years. The mark that should have been a symbol of love and devotion had instead become a brand of rejection. "Luna Elena?" My handmaiden's voice pulled me from my thoughts. "There's news from the pack gathering." I turned, smoothing my expression into the neutral mask I'd perfected over years of public humiliation. "What is it, Lily?" She hesitated, her eyes darting nervously to the door. "The Alpha has purchased an extravagant diamond necklace for Scarlett. It's said to be worth more than our annual pack budget for healing supplies." My stomach clenched. Another gift for his chosen mate, another public declaration of his obsession. "There's more," Lily whispered, stepping closer. "He plans to present it to her at the upcoming pack gathering, in front of all the allied packs." The room seemed to tilt slightly.

The first sensation was smell—antiseptic mixed with something floral and wrong. My eyelids fluttered open, revealing an unfamiliar ceiling. Not my bedroom. Not my packhouse. My fingers twitched against crisp sheets. Hospital sheets. "She's waking up," a voice murmured nearby. "Get the sedative ready." I tried to lift my hand, but my limbs felt like lead. Three years. Three years I'd been lying here, trapped in darkness, while the world continued without me.
