How To Break An Alpha On Ice: His Curved XL Mate

I hate them weak: the heroine of the story. I was one in mine but never again! I had vowed that until I stumbled upon an annoying book. A chubby weak heroine brutally rejected by her mate, the arrogant Alpha. “If I were that Luna, I would make that Alpha beg on his knees—on and off the ice.” I typed bitterly. But the universe mocked me, it made a”bet” with me and the next morning, I woke up in the webtoon as Avri, the weak heroine. Would I truly be able to bend the arrogant Alpha Killian on his knees? Who would win, the universe or I ? What Ancient secret lies between Alpha Killian and i?

Chapter 4

Ava’s POV

“Ten ways to be a boy.”

That was my last search displayed on the screen of the laptop. I yawned lazily and managed to get up on my feet. I had barely slept last night since I found out about the Frozen Blades recruitment and applied.

I refreshed my application for it but no update yet. The page kept taking me back to the articles about the team and Alpha Killian’s annoying face kept gracing my screen.

“I have had enough of these annoying articles.” I soliloquized.

I had spent a greater part of my night reading through these articles and I think I have enough information that I needed. I had rummaged through Avie’s wardrobe but she had nothing masculine,

Such a softie.

Now was action time, I had spent the previous night planning,

Dear universe or moon goddess! Don’t you dare bail out on me right now.

A knock sounded on my door as expected, I rushed up towards the door, I felt strange, I got up to see blood on my clothes and the bed.

Dammit! I almost forgot this part, my usual wrong timing of menstruation. Avie was unlucky like me, so sad.

I took slow steps towards the door, I opened it slowly, the food tray graced my vision, I raised my hand and yanked it from the maid. I had planned to go on a diet last night but seeing this food, I retracted my decision.

“Miss Avie, would you…..” the maid started but I slammed the door on her face.

Silly little snitch, she even attempted to search Avie’s laptop while I took a nap two nights earlier, I hope Amanda pays her enough to be worth her troubles.

I dropped the food tray on my bedside table and rushed to the bathroom to wash up and got dressed. I munched on some food afterwards.

A few hours later, another knock sounded at the door as I expected. This time, I opened the door wide enough, and my smile was inviting. I noticed the surprised expression on the maid’s face.

“You are quite early.” I said smiling.

“No Miss Avie, I usually come for the plates around this time.” She said calmly.

“Oh!” I held my hand out and touched her hair,

“So silky, you have really beautiful hair.”

“Thank you Miss Avie.” She responded blushing softly.

I scoffed inwardly, what an easy girl!

“I haven’t seen m…mum, dad and Amanda or any other people since I got…I mean since my cancelled wedding.” I pouted my lip and acted sad, “How I wish someone could at least check up on me.”

“No one checks on you from onset Miss Avie,” My eyes lightened up as she continued, “I am sorry about your wedding but you live in a different wing of the house from the rest of the family and coming over might be quite difficult for them so….”

I was perplexed! Avie lives aside from the rest of the family? Wow! This is absurd!

“So, they send you over.” I interrupted and she nodded affirmatively.

This sounds like a pathetic story, should I be sad?

Of course I can’t be. In fact, this is the best news ever. I could be gone before they notice in a week, if only I could woo this gullible girl to keep quiet about it.

“You know what, I have a gift for you.” I said, smiling softly.

Her eyes lightened up and I made my way towards Avie’s closet. Tons of new things were stacked in the upper drawer there, probably she dumped them because she felt using them was a wasted effort.

Perfumes, hair care, makeup products, that girl was definitely sleeping on luxury.

I brought out one of the biggest perfume bottles and a set of cute combs, and I handed them over to her.

“You are better suited for these.” I said .

“Oh! Miss Avie, I can’t…I mean, I would love to but I am not allowed to….”

She dragged the gifts towards me but I dragged it back to her,

“You would need these to attract that crush of yours, I saw how you looked at him on that day, remember.” I prayed desperately that my gamble was right.

Her hand stiffened, “You knew Miss Avie?” She whispered.

"Of course I do.” I responded proudly.

Her eyes fell!!

Yippee, it worked. Emotional blackmail.

“Please Miss Avie, don’t tell anyone. I like George so much, I don’t want him….”

“Relax girl, it’s our little secret,” she nodded her head affirmatively, I can see the gratitude in her eyes, “But we will have a little secret of my own, that would make us even.”

“Okay Miss Avie, what do you want?”

“I need to see someone I like too, just pretend that I am still here.”

“Please, Miss Avie, I would be punished for it if….”

“I will be back before you know it.”

She collected the gift from me. I smiled warmly, that’s it,

The guard dog was bought successfully!

“I will bring lunch,” She smiled and turned to leave, “Miss Avie, no one would be home tonight, Crest Peak pack is launching a new innovation.”

“Have a good night.”

“Good night Miss Avie.”

Again, I slammed the door shut behind her. I rushed over to my laptop to check the new email I created, I refreshed it, and the mail sat at the top waiting to be opened.

Application successful!

Yay, I have been shortlisted for the trial match in Frost Blades in two days. All that was left was getting myself a hockey kit after my escape.

I waited till nighttime, and opened my bedroom door slowly, I expected to run into some guards. Unfortunately, I wasn’t important enough to be assigned guards. As I walked down the hallway, the maid turned out to be right, Avie’s room was located in the pack conference center.

I picked the lock with a hairpin, a sneaky skill my uncle taught me. At the second trial, I turned the doorknob and opened it, fresh air graced my nostrils and the outside world called to me.

No one would be around tonight Miss Avri: her voice echoed through my mind.

Freedom smells so good but something else was missing, I needed money to buy my needs, the internet says they spend dollars here, but Avri had none. Probably she had no need for money. That girl lives the most pathetic life, damn that author.

I looked up towards the main building ahead, it was a damn mansion. Amanda must have lived like a castle princess here. There are definitely going to be guards everywhere. That shouldn’t be hard, I could play the hide and seek game well enough.

Ava, let’s go be a little thief.

Author's note: Ava bloodied her clothes, traumatized a maid, unlocked a door with a hairpin like a Disney criminal, and said ‘let me go be a thief’ 🥲🤣. Moon Goddess, collect your daughter.

The air at Moonstone Territory crackled with anticipation as our convoy arrived. Three months pregnant, I felt a rare sense of peace, one hand resting protectively over my slightly rounded belly as I stepped from the car. My wolf, Victoria, purred contentedly within me, sharing my quiet joy. "Luna Victoria!" Several Silvermoon delegates rushed forward, bowing respectfully. "You're radiant today." I smiled, accepting their compliments with a graceful nod. My aura—stronger since my pregnancy—rippled around me in waves of silver light that even humans might have sensed had they been present. "Where is Alpha Michael?" I asked, scanning the gathering crowd. "Already at the ceremonial grounds, Luna," replied a young warrior, his eyes darting away too quickly. Something cold slithered down my spine. Victoria growled softly in my mind, suddenly alert.

The nursery was the only place in the Pack House where the air didn’t feel like it was choking me. It was a small room on the third floor, far away from the Alpha’s luxurious suite—the suite that should have been mine by right, but was currently occupied by a woman who wasn't. "Mama, look," Tommy whispered, holding up a drawing. It was a crude, crayon depiction of a large black wolf standing next to a smaller, golden one. "That's Daddy. And that's me." My heart clenched, a familiar, dull ache that had been my constant companion for seven years. Tommy had never seen Remington’s wolf form up close. My mate, Alpha Remington Stevens, barely looked at our son, let alone shifted for him. To Remington, Tommy was just a reminder of a political shackle he was desperate to break. To me, Tommy was the only reason I was still breathing.

The dress was ivory. Not white — ivory. Apparently there's a difference when you're being mated off to the Alpha of the most powerful pack on the East Coast. I didn't pick it. I didn't pick the flowers, the venue, or the three hundred wolves filling the Ironveil Pack's ceremonial hall like it was some kind of political concert. My mother picked the dress. My father picked the date. And somewhere in between, they picked my entire future without asking me once. But I didn't know that yet. Not at the altar.

I stared at my reflection in the mirror, tracing the mate mark on my neck that had brought me nothing but pain for seven years. The mark that should have been a symbol of love and devotion had instead become a brand of rejection. "Luna Elena?" My handmaiden's voice pulled me from my thoughts. "There's news from the pack gathering." I turned, smoothing my expression into the neutral mask I'd perfected over years of public humiliation. "What is it, Lily?" She hesitated, her eyes darting nervously to the door. "The Alpha has purchased an extravagant diamond necklace for Scarlett. It's said to be worth more than our annual pack budget for healing supplies." My stomach clenched. Another gift for his chosen mate, another public declaration of his obsession. "There's more," Lily whispered, stepping closer. "He plans to present it to her at the upcoming pack gathering, in front of all the allied packs." The room seemed to tilt slightly.

The first sensation was smell—antiseptic mixed with something floral and wrong. My eyelids fluttered open, revealing an unfamiliar ceiling. Not my bedroom. Not my packhouse. My fingers twitched against crisp sheets. Hospital sheets. "She's waking up," a voice murmured nearby. "Get the sedative ready." I tried to lift my hand, but my limbs felt like lead. Three years. Three years I'd been lying here, trapped in darkness, while the world continued without me.
