Chapter 8

ANIKA'S POV:-

After a long and tiring day, I finally came back to my room and kicked my shoes off. I sat on the chair that was set by my dresser. I started pulling off my accessories. Then I pulled all the bobby pins out of my hair and let them cover my back. I grabbed the brush and started untangling my hair. I looked at the armour that was now placed in my bedroom. I really could not believe it. It still felt as if I was dreaming. I was honoured by our Alpha. In the same house where I was treated as a slave, I was given the most honorable tribute. I could not help but giggle as I remembered the face my bitchy sister had that time.

The door of the room opened and Adam stepped into the room. I frowned at first but then I remembered that it was his room and from now onwards, I had to share it with him. Or he was sharing his room with me. I was pulled out of my thoughts as he grabbed both of my arms and rubbed them gently. I looked at him and gave him a wide smile. He leaned over my ear and I held my breath. "So little warrior, are you happy now?" He whispered in my ear and pecked my ear. A soft whimper escaped my lips as his lips touched my ear.

He chuckled seeing my reaction. He grabbed my hand and pulled me up. He pulled me close to him. He wrapped his one arm on my waist, while with the other one, he was holding my hand. I giggled and put my hand on his bicep. Without any music or song, we danced with each other. It was crazy but I loved it. "Now that you are eighteen, I can stay here. And trust me, baby girl. I will be a nightmare for you." He whispered in my ear, causing me to giggle again.

"It's alright. I will deal with this nightmare." I replied to him in a shy tone. He chuckled and pecked my left cheek. He then let go of me and went towards the bed. He laid down on the bed and signalled me to use the bathroom first. I nodded my head and went towards the bathroom. I took a quick shower and brushed my teeth. Then I wrapped a towel around my body and stepped out of the bathroom. I heard a low growl and looked around. I found Adam drooling over me.

I gasped and quickly ran towards my closet. My cheeks burned as I heard him chuckling at my behaviour. He went towards the bathroom and I grabbed a silk nightie from my wardrobe. I wore my nightie and stepped out of the closet. Brushing my hair one last time, I went towards my bed and laid down on my side. I pulled the comforter over my body.

The door of the bathroom opened and Adam came out. He was wearing his sweaty pants. My breath hitched as I looked at his naked upper body. Grinning mischievously, he came towards the bed and laid down beside me. He opened his arms for me and I smiled. I knew he had craved it as much as I had craved it. We both had missed each other's warmth.

Long ago, when my body started growing, my mother created an issue. According to her, I was under age and I could not sleep with a man I was sexually attracted to, until I would turn eighteen. And after all that drama, Adam went towards the pack house so I could have his room. He did that for me, so I would not sleep on the kitchen floor.

I quickly snuggled closer to him and he wrapped one of his arms around me. My head was on his chest. With the other hand, he started playing with my hair, something he always loved to do. "Finally, I can cuddle up with you. I have missed your warmth, baby girl." He said and kissed the top of my head. I giggled and looked up at him.

"I have missed you too. If it was not for that selfish bitch, we would not have craved for each other like that." I replied and buried my face in the crock of his neck.

"I knew it was her doing. Or your self-centred parents really never cared if you were sleeping in the room or on the road." He said and I sighed. It was the truth. They made it an issue because Skylar asked them. She said this room had the best view and she wanted that. I just replied that she could not kick me out this time as this was not my room. It was Adam's. The next hour, we saw chaos in the house. Everyone was arguing about me sleeping on the same bed with Adam.

"At least she can not blackmail me anymore. As I am Alpha's pride." I whispered in a dramatic tone and he chuckled. He looked at me with a wide smile on his face.

"Where did you learn to fight back, baby girl?" He asked me and I shrugged my shoulders.

"I don't know. It just happened on its own. Maybe I was fed up with her bitchy dramas. After what she did to my dress, I really lost my cool." I replied and he rubbed his hand on my back.

"It's okay, baby girl. I am here. You don't have to worry about that brat." He said and I nodded my head. I sat up and hovered over him. I sat on his stomach and he chuckled.

"What are you doing, baby girl?" He asked me with a smirk on his face. I giggled shyly and laid on top of him. My legs were parted as I was lying like a baby on his muscular body. But I did not care. I hugged him just like that and he also wrapped his arms around me.

"Close your eyes, baby girl. You have to be on the ground to practice from tomorrow. I don't want to deal with your lazy or sleepy ass on the field." He said in a humorous tone and I giggled.

"Good night, Adam." I greeted him and he pecked my left cheek. Hugging each other like kids and their stuffed toys, we both slipped into our dream land.

ALPHA CALEB'S POV:-

I signed the papers and stood up. Finally, the day I had been waiting for. After all the struggles and the hell me and my pack had been through, it was finally the time to go back home and live a peaceful life again. I was so excited to go back home. Our old home. Where we grew up together. Where we had gotten our first training. Our home was burned because of a selfish bastard and a bunch of rogues. Well, not a bunch of rogues. It was almost three packs that had attacked us that day.

We all tried to fight but our Alpha Leo was down. He and his family were murdered. I had seen their corpses. Even my sweet little angel, my Anny, was also killed. I was one of the kind who had their wolves awakened a few months after the birth. Mine was awakened when I was one two years old. And ever since, I knew that Alpha Leo's daughter, Anny, was my mate. Thanks to Alpha Leo, I had my wolf under my control. Yes, I always needed to be locked on full moon nights. But it was until I saw my angel, lying on the ground, lifeless. I swore on my life that I would make them pay for whatever they did.

After years of planning and training, I finally managed to get my pack out of the rogue's slavery. We killed each and every one of the rogues who attacked our pack and killed our people. After getting back out, I decided to lead the pack. As the whole family of the Alpha was dead, it was the responsibility of a Beta to run the pack. And as it was a prediction after my birthday that I was the future Alpha, the pack asked me to lead them and my brother to become my Beta. Lucas was really an amazing Beta for the territory. But I had to prove myself that I deserved that place. I promised my Alpha that I would save his people. I was grateful that I did not embarrass him.

I smoothed down the silver ceremonial dress one last time, my fingers trembling slightly against the simple fabric. It wasn't the elaborate gown that Sophia would likely wear, but it was the best I had—a hand-me-down from my mother's youth, carefully preserved for special occasions. Today was certainly special. Today, Alexander would finally announce our courtship to the allied packs. "You look beautiful, Luna," Rose whispered from her bed, her voice thin but her smile radiant. At thirteen, my sister's wolf-sickness had left her too weak to attend the ceremony, another cruel reminder of our family's fallen status. "I wish you could come with me," I said, sitting beside her on the bed. I pulled out the small leather pouch of protective charms I'd gathered—tiny moonstone beads, dried wolfsbane flowers, and silver thread. "Then I'll be there in spirit." Rose turned, presenting her back to me. "Braid them in?" I worked the charms into her hair with practiced fingers, weaving protection and love into each strand.

The scent of fresh roses filled my car as I drove toward the pack house, excitement bubbling in my chest. My birthday had never been a big deal to Marcus, but eight years together had taught me to create my own joy. I'd left work early, planning to surprise him with the dinner reservation I'd made at Crystal Moon, the upscale restaurant in the neighboring pack's territory. I hummed softly, fingering the mate mark bracelet on my wrist—a silver band with our initials entwined that Marcus had given me when we completed our mate ceremony. The memory made my heart flutter, though the flutter wasn't as strong as it once was. My wolf had been unusually quiet lately, something I attributed to stress from my job at the pack's community center. "He'll be so surprised," I whispered to myself as I pulled into our driveway. The pack house was quiet this afternoon, most members at work or training. Perfect timing. I slipped my key into the lock, careful to be silent.
