His Mistress Stole My CEO Chapter 1
For six years, I served as the personal bodyguard for my boyfriend, the CEO. I even took a bullet for him, losing the hearing in my right ear from a blast while protecting him. He went against his family's wishes to be with me, promising never to abandon me.
But on the day I was scheduled to get a cochlear implant, I overheard his doctor friend joking with him: "You really pulled off a miracle, getting Bianca, the true heiress, to play bodyguard and even have a baby for your beloved Ruth. Are you planning to make it official?"
"It's just a bit of fun. No one’s going to marry a deaf woman. If she can have my child to secure Ruth's place, she should consider herself lucky."
So, all his promises were just a scheme to help his fake heiress stay in the George family. Heartbroken, I took off my engagement ring and called a familiar number. "Mr. Fox, I won't be renewing my contract as a bodyguard."
After hanging up, I ripped up the pregnancy test report I held and grabbed my resignation letter before heading to Quinton's office. I walked in just as he was coming out of the shower.
"Why are you here? Didn’t I tell you to take it easy at home?" he asked, wrapping his damp body around me.
"I went to the hospital today..." I began, but Quinton interrupted, his excitement overflowing. "Did you go to find out if you might be pregnant, Bianca?"
Recalling the harsh truth I had overheard, I shook my head bitterly. "No, I'm not pregnant. I went to get a new cochlear implant."
Quinton’s face briefly showed disappointment, but he quickly reassured me. "Bianca, you know my mom insists we need a child for her to accept us being together. It’s tough, but let's keep trying. Once you're pregnant, we can get married, alright?"
With that, he removed my cochlear implant, and his passionate kiss brushed my neck—the usual sign of his desire. "Whether they approve or not, you’re the one I want forever."
Once, those words would have brought me to tears. I would have overlooked the hardship of getting pregnant just for the hope of marriage. But now I knew it was merely a delay tactic.
Ignoring his heated breath near my ear, I freed myself from his hold and glanced at the cloud tattoo on his chest, matching the scar on mine left by a bullet meant for him. Quinton had claimed it was a mark of his love for me. But while the mark remained, his heart had strayed.
Pain stabbed at my heart with growing intensity. I turned aside and slipped my resignation letter among some papers. "The security system for tonight’s event needs upgrading. Please sign these documents."
Hearing my professional tone, the desire in Quinton’s eyes faded. I watched as he signed each document. When he stopped at the resignation letter, he looked up at me. Meeting his gaze, I felt a rush of panic.
As I tried to maintain my composure, a knock sounded. "Mr. Nelson, Miss Ruth is here."
Hearing this, Quinton's eyes lit up, and he quickly finished signing. Passing Ruth in the doorway, I caught a whiff of a familiar cologne on her—a scent Quinton wore. My heart twisted painfully.
As Quinton's personal bodyguard, I didn't have daily shifts. But today, for reasons beyond my understanding, I found myself in the security room, just in time to witness Ruth draping herself over Quinton.
"I wore this special outfit just for you to tear off," she teased.
"You little minx," he laughed. "Just wait and see what I’ll do to you."
Watching Quinton’s Adam's apple move and the unchecked smile on his lips, I felt icy cold, as if I were suffocating.
Suddenly, it was clear why he'd wanted me away from the office lately. It wasn’t to prevent overworking but to hide his affair.
The betrayal unfolded over an hour. Seeing him indulge in passion with Ruth, a stark contrast to the man I thought I knew, was gut-wrenching. Their intimacy left marks across the couch, the desk.
The sounds from the surveillance footage made me sick to my stomach, the phone in my pocket buzzing with messages from unknown numbers.
“Bianca, your dear Quinton has quite the stamina—my back is killing me!”
The pride I once held in our love shattered painfully. Unable to contain myself, I rushed to the restroom and retched violently. The acid in my throat was nothing compared to the ache in my heart.
Covering my mouth, I tried to stifle the sounds, but the nausea drew a colleague's attention outside.
"Captain Collins, are you okay?"
Taking deep breaths, I fought off the dizziness. "I’m fine," I replied, then walked back to the office with a blank expression.
