His Forsaken Mate: The Vengeance Of The Wolfless Novel Cover

His Forsaken Mate: The Vengeance Of The Wolfless

I woke in the body of a wolfless outcast the instant Alpha Kane rejected her, parading his mistress Flor as the new Luna while the original soul died of a broken bond. Thrown into a freezing cabin to starve, I got a visit from Flor gloating in silk, her guard beating my loyal maid bloody. They saw a weak disgrace destined to die. They never guessed a top-tier biochemist now inhabited that broken girl—one armed with a pocket-dimension laboratory. I infected Flor's dress with custom fungal spores, triggering hives and hallucinations, then paralyzed the Alpha with a single dart when he came to tear out my throat.

Chapter 3

Aubrey POV:

I was floating in a warm, painless void. The grinding ache in my soul was gone, replaced by a gentle hum. The throbbing in my head was a distant memory.

A calm, synthesized voice echoed in my mind. Nightingale.

"Vitals critical. Initiating Phase 1 stabilization. Deploying nano-med drone."

Even in my disoriented state, I felt it. A nearly imperceptible prick at my wrist, where the bio-key was. A probe, thinner than a human hair, deployed from the pocket dimension and slipped into my vein.

No pain. Only a slow, spreading warmth as a cocktail of high-concentration nutrients, advanced analgesics, and rapid tissue regenerators flooded my system. On the UI flickering at the edge of my awareness, diagnostic lines shifted from critical red, to cautionary yellow, and then, finally, to stable, healthy green.

My mind remained active, even in healing stasis. I reviewed the incoming diagnostics as if reading a colleague's chart: Severe protein-calorie malnutrition. Bone density in the lowest percentile. Early-stage scoliosis. Muscle atrophy across all major groups. The original Aubrey had been a textbook case of systemic neglect.

*A fixer-upper, I thought, with detached, clinical satisfaction. Challenge accepted. *

"Neurological damage from 'Rejection' event detected," Nightingale continued. "Trauma is non-physical, originating from a bio-resonant psychic link. Suppressing symptoms with targeted micro-current stimulation and a neural inhibitor cocktail."

The science of it was fascinating. A pity I was the subject of the experiment.

Hours must have passed in that healing trance. When I finally opened my eyes, the slivers of light filtering through the walls had faded from gold to a soft, dusky grey.

I didn't move. I simply lay there, taking inventory.

The splitting headache was gone, replaced by a cool, soothing sensation at the back of my skull. The gnawing emptiness in my stomach had vanished. A feeling of strength—of energy—flowed through my limbs. It was a sensation this body had likely never experienced.

Even the soul-deep agony of the rejection had receded, dulled to a faint, manageable ache, like the memory of a long-healed wound.

I sat up. The movement was fluid. Effortless.

I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood, testing my weight. Solid. Stable. I felt... good. Better than good.

"Report," I whispered, my voice still hoarse.

"Host has been stabilized," Nightingale responded instantly. "Mild concussion and soft tissue damage fully repaired. Malnutrition corrected to baseline. Neurological damage from 'Rejection' temporarily suppressed by 95%. Full recovery and severance of the residual link will require advanced gene therapy and a custom-designed viral vector."

Better than I could have hoped. A temporary fix was all I needed.

"Access inventory. Category: Sustenance."

The blue UI shifted, displaying a neat list. I materialized a foil-wrapped energy bar and a sleek metal bottle of purified water into my hand.

I sat on the edge of the bed and ate my first meal in this new world. The bar tasted like sweetened cardboard, but it was packed with 3,000 calories and all the necessary micronutrients. It was fuel.

As the energy hit my system, my mind cleared completely. I began to strategize.

Option one: Escape. Unviable. I was a wolfless girl in a world of predators. I knew nothing of the geography or the dangers outside this compound. Fleeing would be suicide.

Option two: Revenge. A necessity. But not a blind, emotional rampage. Revenge was a dish best served cold, and with meticulous planning.

I made a mental list, each name a data point in my new project.

1.Bertha Kowalski.

2.Flor Carr.

3.Alpha Kane Spence.

To execute any plan, I needed information. I needed to understand the rules of this world, the pack's power structure, and most importantly, the exact legal and ritualistic process for formally and irrevocably severing a mate bond. I would not be tied to that arrogant Alpha a moment longer than necessary.

For now, my greatest weapon was my enemy's perception of me. They thought I was weak, broken, and dying. I would encourage that assumption.

It was a standard scientific principle: before introducing a new variable, first establish a stable, observable baseline. I would be the most pathetic, hopeless baseline they had ever seen.

I accessed my lab's inventory again, this time under 'Theatrical & Forensic Supplies.' I selected a palette of skin-safe pigments used for creating lividity and bruising on forensic dummies. With practiced hands, I applied a sallow, jaundiced tint to my skin. I shadowed my eyes to make them appear sunken and hollow. I used a drying agent on my lips to make them look cracked and pale.

For the final touch, I synthesized a small dose of a pyrogenic agent and ingested it. Within minutes, my body temperature rose by two degrees—enough to feel feverish to the touch without causing any actual harm.

I looked at my faint reflection in the water bottle. The image was distorted, but I could see the effect.

I looked like I had one foot in the grave.

Perfect.

I lay back down on the hard bed, arranging my limbs in a posture of utter exhaustion. I slowed my breathing, making each inhale a shallow, rattling effort.

But I wasn't resting.

In the quiet theater of my mind, I was pulling up every scrap of data Nightingale had on psychic phenomena, genetic markers, social rituals, and neurotoxins.

They thought they had thrown a wounded lamb into a pit. They had no idea they'd just locked a starving wolf—one who synthesized her own fangs—into their henhouse.

Kane Spence and his pack thought they were dealing with a broken-hearted girl.

They were about to get a lesson in advanced biochemistry.
