Chapter 1

~AVA~

"Don't let me fall Matt! I don't wanna die!" I pleaded, desperately clinging on to my husband's arm, my feet swinging in the air. My heart was beating wildly in my chest and the thought of falling from this height struck me. I would die from this height.

All of a sudden, she appeared by his side and touched his arm slightly. My eyes watched in horror as a wicked smile crossed her lips. Her eyes shine in mischief.

"I hope you and your baby have a nice life in hell.." She muttered, a dark gaze settled on her face.

I diverted my gaze to my husband, I shook my head in despair trying to change his mind and to my amazement, he pulled his hands off. My heart almost snapped out of my chest as I felt my body falling freely in the air, their image getting farther and farther until I hit the hard ground.

At the bone crushing impact, I felt a jab in my baby bump, it was then I felt a sharp and painful nerve cutting slice hitting my belly, realizing it was a knife Agnes threw from that height. I was sprawled on the floor in misery gagging in my own blood.

My eyes were slightly open and I could see them staring at me from the terrace, their image started getting blurry until I was consumed by the darkness and the sound of their laughter gnawing in the dark.

***Half an hour ago****

"Your baby girl looks healthy and excited to arrive next Thursday.." The redhead woman smiled as she stretched an envelope to the lady sitting before her desk.

Ava smiled as she accepted the envelope from the doctor, her eyes had a radiant sparkle in them. In less than a week, she'll finally hold her little one in her arms.

"Thanks Doctor. I'll take my leave now" She announced to the doctor before leaving.

All throughout the way home, her heart didn't stop beating fast, her skin crawled with excitement, she couldn't wait to share the news to Matt, her husband.

He has also been looking forward to the day he'll hold his little daughter in his arms.

The driver pulled over into the driveway, he stepped out of the grey maybach and walked to the other side to help the heavily pregnant lady out of the car.

Ava's husband Matt, came from a line of a successful and wealthy family. The Manchester's, his mother was the only daughter of her family and eventually she got married to her husband who was also rich but not as wealthy as the Manchester's.

The white duplex stood rigidly on her path casting a bright glow over the surrounding area, it was their wedding gift from Matt's grandfather.

Ava walked into the broad living room, everywhere was awfully silent. She knew Matt and his cousin sister, Agnes were home. Matt had offered to work from home after she reached eight months because he didn't want to let her off his sight.

"Where is he when you need him the most?" She silently grumbled beneath her breath as she climbed the spiral stairs leading up to the rooms.

Not too long, she arrived at the passage way leading to his study, it was quiet and lonely, her thin brows furrowed slightly.

Where could they be at the moment?

Suddenly, she heard a small noise coming from one of the doors up ahead. Her feet moved across the floor walking to the last door in the hallway, that was her husband's study.

The door was slightly ajar, from the little crack opening she could see Agnes sitting on Matt's desk, her two legs widely spread apart and in between, was her husband's head.

The sound she heard came again from Agnes, it was a moan of pleasure! Her eyes grew large at the formidable sight. That was his cousin sister!

Her heart squeezed in pain, it felt like millions of needles were being poked into her chest at the same time. Ava didn't realize that she was crying until a teardrop rolled off her eyes and dropped to her left foot.

"Ah! Right there Matt!" Agnes moaned throwing her head backwards.

The moans and little passionate cries from Agnes made her gag. She couldn't believe what was happening right before her eyes, her hand went to her belly the moment she felt her little one move abruptly.

A loud gasp left her lips which immediately had Matt and Agnes snapping their heads to the door. They saw her standing there with wet eyes through the cracks.

"Ava" Matt called out in surprise as he stepped away from Agnes, he wiped his mouth with the back of his palm and opened the door fully.

The pain and hurt in Ava's eyes worsened when he tried to touch her with his sinful hands, she took a step back avoiding his touch.

"Ava I can explain-

Matt's face fell to the other side after Ava's hand met his cheek. Her body was shaking in anger the longer she stared at him.

"Explain what? Matt! You were eating up your cousin sister?!"

The door opened wider and the blonde with sharp Jade eyes stepped out, she adjusted her black mini skirt paired with a see through white crop top. Her red bra and boobs were on full display.

"What the actual hell do you think is wrong with you Ava? You could have knocked on the door like a normal person other than frolicking around with your pot belly-

Ava's anger rose at Agnes words, she didn't wait back before striking the latter hard on her face, what she didn't expect was for Agnes to reciprocate immediately.

Ava lost her footing and fell to the ground, a low hiss leaving her lips at the impact, her hand fell on her big baby bump.

"I didn't realize how stupid you are Ava. Sooner or later you were bound to find out about Matt and I, but at what cost?" Agnes red lips puckered into a devilish and demonic grin.

Ava's lips parted in shock, she diverted her gaze to her husband hoping he'd say something but he just stood there looking down at her like she was a piece of shit.

She desperately wanted him to rebuke Agnes words, how could she have turned a blind eye to what was going on under her roof?

"Just shut up!" Ava fired. She slowly helped herself to her feet before turning to Agnes once more. "Matt and I are expecting our first baby, he loves me! Tell her, Matt!"

"Sadly this game has to end Ava, you are of no use to me and neither is that bastard in your womb. We've got all we wanted from you which is the massive inheritance your grandfather left for you-

Ava was about to rebuke his words but immediately, she recalled the day he made her sign some papers claiming it was a transfer share document for their unborn baby..

"But that was for our baby! Everything belongs to our baby!" Ava cried out.

"What baby?" A wicked grin appeared on Agnes face when she stared at Ava's baby bump. "Yes Ava, everything belongs to your baby" She whispered softly. "if only it's alive.." She continued with a wicked grin on her red lips.

A look of horror crossed Ava's face, she took a step back when she noticed Agnes eyes was focused on her baby bump. She shook her head slowly with her hand over her belly.

"No!" she yelled back at Agnes while taking a step back.

"Run.." Agnes said in a whisper. "Run Ava! Save your baby.."

Ava's breath hitched, she turned around immediately and began racing down the passage. She could hear the footsteps behind her getting closer.

She couldn't run faster because of her big bump but she ran like any mother would. Her baby's father might be a despicable person but her baby wasn't.

It was until she got to the terrace she realized that there was nowhere to run anymore. Her eyes darted around, no guardrails to guard the terrace. The wind was chilly and the sun was at its peak shining brightly.

The two finally appeared walking slowly to her, her face was all sweaty from running and her belly hurt. Ava was short of breath, she continued backing away while they drew nearer like the beast they were.

"I gave you a headstart but once again you proved to be foolish by choosing to run here instead.."

Ava took a glance back and nearly had a heart attack after seeing how close she was to the edge. Matt and Agnes were standing three steps away from her.

"Please don't. For my baby's sake-

Her words were caught short when she felt the liquid flowing out of her. Her eyes went down only to realize that her water broke.

"Argh!" She screamed in pain.

"I won't let you give birth to that bastard.."

Ava didn't get the time to process Agnes words, all she felt was a push to her shoulder which had her falling backwards. Her hands quickly caught up to the decking but she had a hard time holding up.

Her legs were swinging on air. The realization struck her and her cries for help fell on deaf ears.

"Matt! Don't let our baby suffer for something that we can fix.." She pleaded tearfully.

Matt rushed to the edge, he noticed her grip was slipping and when it finally slipped, he caught her by her wrist while she dangled and panicked on the air.

"Don't let me fall Matt! I don't wanna die!"
