Chapter 4

Carla's POV

I smiled happily and took out the clothes when I was done with it. Most importantly, it will be the day I'll find my mate. I'll be taken home by someone that loves me for me, otherwise I'll be wondering where I'd go from here since I haven't been receiving any salary to save for an independent life after leaving here.

I cleared and cleaned everywhere. When I was sure I was done with everything, I headed towards the Luna's room to ask if she needed me to do something. I hope she replies negatively so I can have a bit of a rest. My body aches all over. If I move out of here, the first thing I'd do is to take a long rest, treat my body and if I have the opportunity, I will go for a massage with the estate's therapist. I smiled as I imagined life outside of here. It would be my first time living independently and doing things at my own time and accord.

Oh how good it will feel!

I knocked on her door awaiting a reply.

"Come in." She said and I pushed the door open. She was lying on her mate, the Alpha's chest as she caressed him softly. I cleared my throat and bowed at them.

"Alpha, Luna," I bowed in acknowledgement. I couldn't just start talking to them without showing my respect to them. That would attract punishment as well. "Luna, is there anything else I can do for you?" I then asked.

"Nothing. Go take a rest, dear." She said, I was shocked to my bone marrow when I heard her words. She's releasing me to take a rest and she even added dear? I smirked inside of my chest but not letting it become audible. One part of me told me that this was so because she was receiving comfort from her mate, she will be back to her rude nature when off this.

"Luna?" I said hoping I'd heard right or it was just some imagination.

"And, Carla dear, we would love to hold a party for you on your eighteenth birthday and your exit from this estate. You have served us so well." I wondered why they would have to wait until the last minute before they recognized my effort. "We hope we will see your mate come and take you off our hands, so we know we are handing you over to a safer hand." These words touched me deeply, so they know that a mate will treat me far more better than they do? Of course, yes.

"Yes. We appreciate your loyalty. Now you are a big girl. You should go out there and create a life for yourself." The Alpha said with a smile.

"Thank you Luna and sir. I really appreciate it." I thanked them and gave out a smile. A genuine one! A genuine smile that I haven't given out for a while.

"It's nothing dear. I will take you out tomorrow for shopping, to get you some dresses, shoes and stuff which you would use in remembering us. We really appreciate your loyalty and work for eight good years." Luna Georgia said.

"You can go now." She said and smiled at me.

"Thank you Luna." I thanked them and bowed slightly as I walked out of the room.

"Yes!!!" I jumped up happily. They appreciate my service even though they treated me like trash. I'm proud of myself and they appreciate me.

I should go get some rest. Afterall, she's freeing me now before I hear her calling my name and sending me on errands.

I heard footsteps and saw the twins walking towards me to the stairs. They are going out because they dressed up in a corporate way. They are going to work. They walked past me and Sebastian stopped abruptly.

I made a quick prayer in my mind as I looked up at him. He turned towards me and I dropped my eyes to the ground.

"You will be going soon." He said and moved closer to me. I watched as Nessian stopped giving me a gaze which I couldn't really explain what it was but I had goosebumps, there was this slight connection I got with them in a flash which hasn't happened for centuries. Sebastian stretched out his hands and squeezed my shoulders lightly, then he pulled me into his chest.

I gasp, my eyebrows arched and my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe this was real but then there was this slight scent I could perceive that moment his chest collided with my boobs. It came and went in a flash, I sensed a second one from a distance, and it was from Nessian. Both came and went.

This almost seemed like the connection of fated mates just that the scent didn't last longer than some few seconds. "It could be the preliminary sign of mates, the moon goddess could be showing that they will become our mates when you turn eighteen." Kara spoke up for the first time in years and this came with a whole new level of inner sense of fulfillment which had been lacking in my mind for years. I couldn't believe what she was saying despite receiving all these signs which aren't experienced by everyone but only to special people highly loved and honored by the moon goddess. Nessian and Sebastian were too harsh on me to become my mates, I chose to go pass it, pretending it never happened.

"I will miss you." He said all of a sudden and my heart dropped. Nessian scoffed and walked ahead of him, a clear sign that he was jealous. He rushed over to meet him and pulled him off me, and they descended the stairs in style. This all looked like a dream as I watched them go down. They look so manly in that suit and I can't get enough of their cuteness. I had drooled over them for a long time but now I hate them and can't wait to get away from them.

My cousin found me at my own grave and dragged me to a public event, parading me around like a ghost. My uncle, who left me to rot in a hospital, feigned shock. My aunt shrieked that I was a monster for faking my death. Then she lunged, her nails raking across my cheek and drawing blood. "You ungrateful bitch!" she screamed. The crystal glasses clinked as I arranged them carefully on the silver tray. Each one had to be perfectly positioned, not a drop of champagne spilled. Head Omega Theresa's voice cracked like a whip behind me. "Faster, Omega! The guests will be arriving soon, and you're still dawdling with the drinks." I kept my eyes lowered, the way an Omega should. "Yes, ma'am." My shoulder throbbed where Kameron had grabbed me yesterday, demanding I polish Melissa's ceremonial crown until I could see my reflection in it. The bruise was probably purple by now, but I couldn't check. There wasn't time. "The Alpha wants everything perfect for his precious Melissa," Theresa continued, her thin lips curling in what might have been jealousy or contempt. "And you'll make sure it is, or you'll answer to me." I nodded silently, lifting the heavy tray.

The autumn breeze carried the scent of roasted venison across the forest clearing, making my stomach growl painfully. I shifted on the rough mossy log where I sat, trying to ignore the gnawing hunger as I picked at the cold scraps on my wooden plate—leftovers from yesterday's hunt that had been deemed unworthy of the main feast. Around me, the Silverpine Pack celebrated in full swing. Warriors laughed boisterously, families shared platters of steaming food, and pups chased each other through the fallen leaves. No one spared a glance at the lone figure on the outskirts of their joy. After eight years, they'd grown accustomed to my place in the shadows. 'Look at this spread, Marcus! You've outdone yourself.' Amanda's voice sliced through my mind like a blade, her words broadcasting through the pack mind-link. I flinched, nearly dropping my plate as vivid images flooded my consciousness—a private table laden with succulent meats, fresh fruits, and wine in crystal glasses. The Alpha's quarters transformed into a romantic haven with candles and flower petals.
