Chapter 5

Carla's POV

"Let's just not be fooled, they are evil. Let's pretend it was just a fantasy because that's what it truly is!" I convinced my wolf, Kara.

I felt some sinister motive attached to his words or is it just imagination impacted from the way they had been treating me? "My handsome Devil, I need a fresh breathing space away from you." I whispered silently and scoffed in annoyance. I walked through the hallway and entered my room which is at the corner of the house. I laid on the bed which welcomed my aching body. I sighed heavily and satisfactorily as I enjoyed resting on it. I hope I can enjoy it for a long time before the Luna calls me for an unnecessary errand.

As I close my eyes, I drift to sleep. Then I feel something come over like I was being transported somewhere. I was now in another world. I gasp. This hasn't happened to me before. All of a sudden, I heard a voice which didn't seem to be of this world, it was celestial.

My eighteenth birthday came in a jiffy. I was in that hall celebrating when a strange scent hit my nose. Kara was screaming in excitement like she found him, it was going to be our mate but then I stopped to contemplate on something.

The scent was two different ones, one smelled like bush berries mixed with coconut and almond which normally goes together, then the second smelled like Queen of the Night flowers coupled with almonds. There was no way these scents could belong to one person, they were clearly differentiated.

"Let's find them!" I said without knowing what I was doing. It's my eighteenth birthday, the day I had been waiting for and my dreams are going to come true. At this point, I didn't have any idea of who they were going to be, I was a little bit confused but then like an insane individual who was controlled by another force, I stood up from my place in front and headed towards the direction of the scents.

It wasn't in the hall, I got outside and continued to roam the large space of the estate which was filled with a lot of people. Then I heard someone call my name, it seemed like the Luna but I paid no attention, a greater force was in control of me and I needed to heed to its commands.

I walked still under the guidance of these scent till it stopped me at the large garden in the estate, before two persons I never for once expected of in my life. People I never wished to have in my life. Nessian and Sebastian. Even they themselves are shocked. They froze to the spot, same with me.

"Mate! You're our mate?" They asked with an overwhelming sense of horror. Then I woke up with a loud gasp.

Oh. It was a dream!

My heart began to beat so heavily, I panted really hard, becoming more and more unsteady on the bed. "What does all these really mean?" I asked Kara but got no response from her. She was as silent as ever. "Come on, you aren't answering me. Why did I just have these dreams and the instant connection before which came in a flash? Can you explain them to me?"

"No, I can't. You can only watch if they will come true in the future. Destiny has its own way which we can't comprehend!" It responded and all of a sudden went mute again.

It's the last phrase replayed in my head. "Destiny has its own way which we can't comprehend!" I gave a heavy sigh, shaking my head and returning back to rest. No one would believe me if I ever said this, and besides I got no one to tell. I'll keep it to myself.

*******

I packed the dishes on the table after eating dinner. I don't eat with them on the dining table. I eat my food separately in the kitchen and I am always the last person to eat. I washed the dishes and retired to my bed for the day. After tomorrow, I'm leaving this house. I smiled contentedly and pulled my bedsheet closer to me. I will miss this room. It has always been my warmth when I'm here. This room kept my pain, tears and sorrows. I spent most of my childhood here. I will miss this room but it's time I move out.

I sighed tiredly and closed my eyes, ready to sleep. But the excitement of having one day before leaving made me sleep late.

"Carla, when you are done clearing up, go dress up. I'm taking you out." The Luna said to me with a nod after eating her breakfast. I smiled at her and thanked her. I hurried up with the dishes and was done with it in no time. She told me yesterday that she would take me out today to get some stuff. I would love to have a dress and if it's from them, I'm sure it would be expensive.

I stepped out of the kitchen and Nessian blocked my way. A sharp prick hit me, I felt nervous, that I couldn't look him up in the face. I wondered if he also experienced what I felt some few hours ago. "Where's she taking you to?" He asked, eyeing me suspiciously.

"I don't know sir. She told me to go dress up". I replied. He hissed and walked away. I rushed towards my room and had a quick bath. I searched for a dress to wear and settled on a short gown which stopped at my knee. I have no good dress, most of them are worn out and out of style. The gown I wore was a short free gown with no design on it but the color, which is blue, makes it stand out. I've had it for a long time but it still looks good.

I hopped into the car and sat beside the Luna.

The crystal glasses clinked as I arranged them carefully on the silver tray. Each one had to be perfectly positioned, not a drop of champagne spilled. Head Omega Theresa's voice cracked like a whip behind me. "Faster, Omega! The guests will be arriving soon, and you're still dawdling with the drinks." I kept my eyes lowered, the way an Omega should. "Yes, ma'am." My shoulder throbbed where Kameron had grabbed me yesterday, demanding I polish Melissa's ceremonial crown until I could see my reflection in it. The bruise was probably purple by now, but I couldn't check. There wasn't time. "The Alpha wants everything perfect for his precious Melissa," Theresa continued, her thin lips curling in what might have been jealousy or contempt. "And you'll make sure it is, or you'll answer to me." I nodded silently, lifting the heavy tray.

The autumn breeze carried the scent of roasted venison across the forest clearing, making my stomach growl painfully. I shifted on the rough mossy log where I sat, trying to ignore the gnawing hunger as I picked at the cold scraps on my wooden plate—leftovers from yesterday's hunt that had been deemed unworthy of the main feast. Around me, the Silverpine Pack celebrated in full swing. Warriors laughed boisterously, families shared platters of steaming food, and pups chased each other through the fallen leaves. No one spared a glance at the lone figure on the outskirts of their joy. After eight years, they'd grown accustomed to my place in the shadows. 'Look at this spread, Marcus! You've outdone yourself.' Amanda's voice sliced through my mind like a blade, her words broadcasting through the pack mind-link. I flinched, nearly dropping my plate as vivid images flooded my consciousness—a private table laden with succulent meats, fresh fruits, and wine in crystal glasses. The Alpha's quarters transformed into a romantic haven with candles and flower petals.
