Escaped the Alpha’s Sacred Lies
Chapter 2
I looked at Axton, my voice steady yet full of finality. "Alpha Griffin, those five years are behind us now. Even though I'm still here, I feel like... you're no longer the one for me."
His face turned pale, but I went on, "Don't make me see our time together as a mistake. Or do you need me to leave for good to really let go?"
"No!" he cut me off harshly, his alpha tone reverberating through the room, though his eyes were full of sadness and his voice a desperate plea. "Sylvia, I messed up, I really did. As long as you're alright, please don't leave me like that again. I... I'm ready to give you space."
His look made me hesitate for a moment, then I replied gently, "Okay, then I hope you'll truly let me go."
He was quiet for a while, his head bowed, seeming to finally grasp something. He whispered, "I, Axton Griffin, Alpha of the Griffin Pack, release you, Sylvia, from our mate bond. May the Moon Goddess guide you to a path of peace."
The words hung in the air, heavy and final. I felt the bond between us sever, a sharp pain that quickly faded into numbness. He turned to leave, his broad shoulders slumped, his figure looking lost and dejected.
Kylen, ever the steady Gamma, comforted the young pups, making sure they were all okay before coming over to me. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice low and concerned.
I shook my head slightly and said softly, "I'm fine. Thank you."
He smiled faintly without saying anything else, and after he tidied up the studio, he left with Little Jones.
Not long after, I caught a brief news report: Jenna Dean was officially charged with assault and several other offenses. Despite the Dean family's pleas, they couldn't dismiss all her charges. What caught me off guard was that Axton personally pushed for Jenna's indictment.
At the same time, he announced that he would be taking monastic vows, renouncing his Alpha status and adopting the name "Brother Sylvester."
The image on the screen showed him during the ceremony. Wearing a simple monk's robe, he bowed his head and recited prayers, his expression serene yet marked by subtle pain.
"Brother Sylvester..." I said his monastic name quietly, feeling a faint ache in my heart that I quickly pushed aside.
Right then, Little Jones ran into my arms, laughing and shouting, "Teacher, Uncle Kylen is looking for you!"
I looked down and ruffled his hair, smiling as I asked, "What does he want now?"
"He wants to take us out for some fun!" Jones's eyes shone with excitement.
I lifted my head to see Kylen standing at the doorway, his muscular frame outlined by the sunlight streaming in. He smiled at me, the warmth of his presence filling the room.
"Let's go then." I took Little Jones's hand, and together we walked out of the studio, leaving the shadows of the past behind.
This was my new beginning, and it was finally time to live for myself.
