Chapter One
Dumped and married.
I was already at the court where David and I would be getting married. It has been an hour and I haven't seen any sign of David yet.
I wondered what must have been holding him back as I picked up my phone to call him.
He didn't pick up after calling him several times. My whole body trembled with intense worry.
Where did he keep his phone?
Where was he at the moment? A thousand and one thoughts continue to run through my mind.
I tried my best to remain composed although I was already losing my temper.
The magistrate was already asking me to come in with my partner who is nowhere to be found when my phone rang.
I sighed with relief ready to give David a piece of my mind for doing this to me.
Today of all days. Our special day.
The word he spoke next shattered my heart into a million pieces.
“Diana…I can't be with you anymore…I have found someone else who I really love”,
“Go home, I will come and meet you later”, he voiced out with little or no concern in his voice.
I rolled my eyes in disbelief, very sure David was playing a prank on me and I wasn't in the mood to play.
“Be fast..or we are going to be replaced”, I responded ignoring the word he spoke to me.
“I am serious Diana..I am about to board a flight to Dubai..I am starting a new life there with Ophelia”, he added.
“What do you mean by that?”I asked oblivious of the fact that I have been arguing in the courtyard for over ten minutes now.
Today was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. David was supposed to meet me up at ten-thirty to have our wedding.
“David…it's getting late please come”, my voice pleading.
“Diana…it seemed like you don’t understand what I just said, I…I am not coming”, David said.
I felt tears streamed down my eyes uncontrollably ruining the makeup in my eyes.
“I…I don't think I love you so much to want to get married to you and live in the same house with you”, my heart sank.
I have been suspecting David to be cheating on me but the love I had for him was so strong that I pretended and when he asked to marry him I couldn't deny the joy I felt to finally be chosen by him.
“David…I love you so much…we can make this work just come let's get married… please…I am waiting for you”, I begged.
He ended the call without giving me a warning leaving me wallowing in self-pity.
He knew my dream of getting married and still chose to shatter them into pieces.
I didn't know which hurt the most. David left me to be with another woman who happened to be my best friend.
Foolish me!..I thought we were building a future together. What I didn't know was that David was pretending all along and stabbing me behind my back.
I tightened my fists into a fury as I picked up my phone to call my bank manager to freeze our joint account.
“I am so sorry Miss Diana..he has withdrew every single penny from the account”,
My head is spinning round, and round.
I wanted someone to wake me up from this bad dream I didn't sign up for.
I dialed his number again and realised it wasn't going through again. David had blocked my line.
I squatted right there in the courtyard. I didn't care if people were watching me. I just had my heart yanked out and broke into several tiny pieces.
I cried my eyes out and couldn't help but overhear a conversation of a man that was standing less than a foot away from me.
“Where is she?..I can't find any one here”, he voiced out
“Sorry sir..let me get in contact with you here”, his assistant voiced out.
“I don't have the whole day…I need the lady so I can get this over with”, he yelled.
“I won't be here if my grandfather hasn't insisted that I get married or else he won't let me have company”, he cursed.
“I am sorry sir”, someone spoke from the other end of the line.
He sighed deeply, muttering a few inaudible words to himself.
“I knew grandfather wanted to make sure the company was in safe hands before leaving this world but this disappointment wasn't what I signed up for”,
I guess in a bid to make him proud he had gone through an agency and hired a random lady who was to get married to him.
I sat down without saying anything.
She was nowhere to be found after collecting part-payment
“I thought you said she would be here on time”, he shouted at his assistant once more, getting impatient already.
“I am sorry sir, let me try and reach her again”, Brian said, cutting off the call.
“What a waste of my time”, he sighed out loud and annoyed.
The phone rang again. He picked it up.
“Her company is unable to get a hold of her”, his assistant responded.
“She is currently unreachable, why don't you come back let's reschedule with the company they will send us someone else”,
“I am not going to leave this place without a marriage certificate”, He replied.
He was not intentionally putting pressure on his assistant. He just needed the result immediately.
I stood up from where I was seated and was about to fall when the most handsome man I have ever seen in my life caught me in his arms.
“Be careful and watch where you are going young lady”, he said, pulling me away.
“I am sorry”, I whispered
My name was called again and since I didn't have any reason to be here.
I straightened myself properly and mustered the little courage in me.
“I will marry you”, I said.
“What?”
I looked at him and saw that he was totally shocked to hear it from me.
I barely knew this man and here I was agreeing to a marriage with him.
“You need a wife don't you”, I asked again.
“Yes I do” he replied and I could see that he felt that I was the answer to his long time prayers.
“I was dumped on my wedding day and overheard you talking of how you need a wife”, I replied not wanting to bore him with too many questions.
“Let's get married then”, he replied. “I am desperate in need of a wife and I don't want to be picky”,
I excused myself as I found the nearest restroom and went in to quickly clean my make-up which had been destroyed.
I have no tools to re-touch so wiping it off was the best thing for me to do.
I returned to find him still standing, looking strikingly handsome in his perfectly tailored suit.
My stomach fluttered with relief that I wasn't going to be marrying an eyesore.
I couldn't deny the fact that he was such an extremely handsome and gorgeous man especially with his eagle-like piercing eyes.
In fact I could tell he was far better-looking and richer than my ex. David.
I followed him as we both sat down facing the judge. Who didn't waste time as the marriage ceremony began.
The two witnesses stood behind us as the Judge was prepared to join us together.
The process was shorter than expected and soon I was legally married to a stranger.
“I now pronounce husband and wife”, he exclaimed.
I blinked multiple times. I could not believe that I just got married.
Under normal circumstances I was supposed to give my husband a big kiss on his lips.
Looking beside me at the stranger I couldn't believe he was now my husband.

Helen was finally brought back to the luxurious Gallagher estate as their long-lost blood relative.
But her new family didn't welcome her; they looked at her with undisguised disgust.
The matriarch mocked her stench of poverty, while her step-sister Candice treated her like a feral animal. The patriarch, Fredy—who had built his empire by betraying Helen's mother—tried to break her spirit. He blackmailed Helen into attending a high-society gala by threatening to cut off her grandmother's medical funds.
At the gala, Candice squeezed into a diamond-encrusted gown, desperate to seduce the guest of honor, Damian Montgomery. Damian was the most powerful man in New York, and he was currently tearing the city apart looking for a mysterious woman named Jane.
Overhearing this, a sick, greedy smile spread across Candice's face. She planned to impersonate Jane to claim Damian's wealth and completely crush Helen under her heel.
"Hide in the corner tonight. Don't you dare try to speak to anyone important!"
They all thought Helen was just a helpless, uncultured country girl they could easily manipulate and step on to secure their stolen legacy.
What they didn't know was that Helen was the real Jane. She was the lethal shadow who had saved Damian in the woods, shattered his grip, and robbed his highly guarded vault just the night before.
Helen calmly adjusted her simple black dress and stepped into the ballroom, ready to tear their stolen world apart.

My abusive step-family isolated me completely, holding my mother's medical funds hostage to control my every move.
Yesterday, they finalized my sale.
"You will marry Rudy Petrov next month. He is fifty, wealthy, and willing to overlook your lack of pedigree."
Pushed to the absolute edge, I did the insane. I posted an ad online offering my life savings of $50,000 for a contract husband. A stranger named Brennan agreed.
But my family wouldn't let me go. They forced me back for a dinner by threatening my mother's life-saving prescriptions.
At the table, they relentlessly mocked my new "poor IT guy" husband and intentionally burned my hand with boiling tea.
Worse, the housekeeper locked me in a guest room and forced drugs down my throat so Rudy could come in and assault me.
I lay there paralyzed on the floor, bleeding from Rudy's slap, utterly terrified. I couldn't understand why my own family would throw me to the wolves, and I felt a crushing guilt for dragging an innocent, ordinary guy into my nightmare.
Until a pitch-black Maybach smashed through the estate's wrought-iron gates at eighty miles an hour.
My "poor" husband kicked the solid oak doors off their hinges, beat Rudy half to death, and carried me out into the rain.
I didn't know it yet, but the ordinary man I hired to save me was a ruthless billionaire, and he was about to erase my family's entire empire by morning.

For seven years, I hid my MIT Ph.D. and my identity as a top haute couture designer to be the perfect, obedient wife to billionaire Cornelius Lambert.
But on our anniversary, while I waited at home with a cold dinner, I found him at a Michelin restaurant with his childhood sweetheart, Halle.
My seven-year-old son sat between them, laughing loudly.
"Mom is too boring. I wish Aunt Halle was my real mom."
Cornelius didn't defend me. He just smiled and affectionately ruffled the boy's hair.
When I finally packed my bags and left, I accidentally triggered an old AI robot prototype Cornelius had given me years ago.
A hidden recording played his voice from the very night he proposed.
"Why marry her? Because she's easy to control. Halle doesn't want to settle down yet, so Cassidy is just a perfect, temporary shield."
Later, when I caught them being intimate in a dark parking garage and snapped a photo, Cornelius watched with cold, dead eyes as his massive bodyguard shoved me against a concrete pillar.
My arm was torn open, blood dripping onto the floor, as they forced me to delete the evidence of his affair.
For seven years, I filed down every sharp edge of my brilliance for a man who saw me as nothing but a pathetic, disposable placeholder.
My heart turned to absolute ice. He thought I was just a weak, powerless housewife.
But he forgot who he was dealing with.
As his luxury car drove away, I pulled up the hidden command terminal on my phone and recovered the encrypted cloud backup of the photos.
I looked at my lawyer with a bleeding arm and a cold smile.
"Let's go. Now, we have a weapon."

Eleanore thought her fiancé, Johan, was her only salvation after her family went bankrupt.

Johan had isolated her and controlled her finances, all while secretly getting engaged to a wealthy heiress. He drugged Eleanore to ruin her completely, planning to lock her away as his helpless, secret mistress.
Desperate and losing her mind to the drug, Eleanore fled down the hallway. With Johan and his bodyguards hunting her, she stumbled into the dark presidential suite.
But she wasn't alone. Sitting on the leather sofa was Alexander Briggs—the most feared corporate raider on Wall Street, and Johan's exiled brother.
Outside the door, Johan was screaming, ready to drag her back to hell.
"I can be your antidote. But it's going to cost you."
The ruthless billionaire looked at her trembling body with cold calculation. He offered her a staggering deal: a three-month fake marriage to destroy Johan's empire, and in return, absolute protection and her father's massive debts paid in full.
She couldn't understand why the most powerful predator in New York would use a ruined girl as his weapon, but she knew she would rather die than let Johan touch her again.
When Johan finally broke down the door to claim his prey, Alexander calmly pulled Eleanore into his arms.
"Watch your mouth. You are speaking to my future wife."

Eileen woke up in a trashed hotel room, her head pounding with the pathetic memories of a despised Hollywood actress.
Outside the window, paparazzi were already screaming about her manufactured cheating scandal, but the real nightmare was waiting at her door.
Her paralyzed, billionaire husband, Carlisle Vinson, looked at her with pure disgust while his butler shoved a divorce settlement at her chest.
"Mr. Vinson is offering a severance package of fifty million dollars, provided you sign immediately and vacate the premises."
The original owner had left her an absolute mess.
Her trusted assistant had sold her room number to the press to frame her, and a playboy had scammed her out of her entire two million dollar life savings.
If she signed those papers and lost the Vinson family's protection, the breach of contract fees and her enemies in the industry would swallow her alive in days.
Eileen felt a cold fury override the original owner's lingering panic.
Why should she take the fall and be thrown out on the streets while the parasites who set her up lived out their wealthy fantasies?
She had died once, and she wasn't about to waste her second chance playing the victim.
Eileen slammed the heavy divorce folder shut right against the butler's chest.
"I'm not signing," she said with a terrifying, absolute calm.
She stepped behind her husband's wheelchair, ready to shield him from the cameras, secretly cure his dead legs, and make everyone who betrayed her bleed.
