Chapter 3

I quickly changed right after our class with Sir Ackles. It's surprising how it's like my energy bar got refilled, but I was totally drained from all the activities earlier.

Since there were so many people around Sir Ackles, I didn't approach him again. But before I left Gym A, he winked at me and smiled. Oha? Oha? Go ahead and be jealous, please.

I pulled out the form from my pocket. I'm only reading it now.

Detention Form -

Inclined to: Mary Orion Blanchard

Date: 22 AUG

Violation: Tardiness/Late

Subject: World History

Professor: Samuel Padalecki

The student who committed the stated violation must attend detention on -22 AUG- at exactly -4:00 PM-, -RM 423B CEd- to undergo disciplinary measures.

Oh my gosh. For real. Detention is really happening. Ugh, so annoying. The feeling that you're about to go home, and then bam, detention. The worst! I know it's going to be 3 hours too. So much fun. :<

The whole day passed, and I was still feeling down. I barely talked to anyone today. Even my friends, I didn't really interact with them. There's only a few of them I'd actually call real friends. Anyway. I tried focusing on the past lessons.

It's already 2:45 PM. I need to head to my next class, English Literacy, at room 212A in the College of Education.

I entered right away. I was probably early because no one was there yet. I just bowed my head and sat at the desk. I figured I might as well rest my brain for a bit. I was so stressed out because of my detention.

Mmm... I must've dozed off. Wait, what time is it...? Why does it still feel like no one's here...?

"Rise and shine, Love."

I quickly straightened up. It was Professor Crowley Sheppard, my prof for EL! He was sitting at his desk, but I was seated at the front.

"S-Sorry, Sir..." I wiped my cheek. I was a bit sweaty. This is so embarrassing.

He smiled at me. "It's okay, dear." He's really handsome for a guy in his mid-30s. His eyes are a mix of corn and emerald in color, his skin's pinkish on the cheeks, and his smile is chef's kiss. SPNU is full of such attractive professors.

I noticed no one else was there when I looked around the room.

"I cancelled today's class, dear. Since we finished some lessons ahead of schedule, I thought I should give you guys a break." He said with his oh-so-sexy British accent. I nodded.

"You were sleeping like a princess, so I didn't bother waking you up. Plus, you looked a little upset or stressed when I saw you earlier. You didn't even notice the announcement I wrote on the board," he chuckled lightly. That's when I noticed what was written on the board.

-No sessions today, ELWIX7 class.

~Mr. Sheppard.

Oh great. I didn't even notice. Such an airhead, Oreo. Totally zoned out. Ugh. I'm so embarrassed in front of Sir Crowley.

"I'm really sorry, Sir. And thank you for letting me sleep here," I said, feeling embarrassed but offering an awkward smile.

"It's fine, princess. I don't have any sessions left today, and it's too early to go home. So I decided to spend my free time just watching over you, Sleeping Beauty." He winked again. Seriously, all the good-looking professors here at SPNU have this weird talent for making you swoon.

"Thank you, Sir." I smiled. I looked at my wristwatch. Oh no, it's 3:38 PM already! My detention is at 4:00 PM!

I grabbed my stuff and stood up. "Sir, I have to go. Thank you so much for letting me stay here and for looking after me. I really have to go. Bye, Mr. Sheppard!"

"No problem, sweetheart. See you next session." His calm, natural voice followed me as I waved and rushed out of his classroom.

Thank goodness there was no class in EL. At least I got some rest. Mr. Sheppard is really kind. Also, thank goodness there was no class. If there was, my brain would've probably melted from all the reading.

So, here I am. I hurried to room 423B in the CEd building. It's in the other building, on the fourth floor! Given how short I am, I really had to rush to make it on time. I could've taken the elevator, but since it's rush hour, the elevator line was probably packed.

-RM 423B-

There was a paper posted on the door. It said in marker, "Detention 4:00 PM-6:00 PM."

I knocked a few times, then turned the knob. I peeked inside the ajar door. I saw a professor I'd never seen before, even though I've been here at SPNU for a while. I know almost all the professors here, but this one is new to me.

He was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, black slacks, and black leather shoes. He was sitting at his desk, looking at something in his hands.

"Come in," he spoke without looking at me. His voice was manly, but sweet. It actually sounded like a romantic poet.

I stepped inside and pushed the door shut. I turned to look around the room. There were about four other students here, probably also serving detention. Thank goodness I wasn't alone.

"You must be," he read the paper in his hand, seemingly searching for my name, "Mary Orion Blanchard?" He asked, half-certain, waiting for me to confirm.

I nodded, nervous. It's my first time in detention.

He nodded too. He looked away from me and returned to the papers on his desk. "Take the seat in front," he motioned to the closest chair in front of his desk. I quickly obeyed.

I sat there, staring down. It was so quiet. The only sounds were a few shuffling noises and the pop of chewing gum. I couldn't take it anymore, so I looked around the room. I glanced at the other students.

One guy looked like a frat bro. Leather jacket, spiked hair, henna tattoos all over his arms, piercings, and that scowl on his face. Definitely not someone I'd ever date.

There was a girl too. She had that too much makeup look, a mini skirt, a body-hugging blouse, a curled ponytail, chewing gum, and acting flirty, playing with her hair and looking around. She was probably trying to impress the prof.

Then there were two others who looked like high school students. They were in uniform, both with messed-up hair and bruises, and one even had blood on his uniform. They probably fought.

We were scattered all around the large room. Of the five of us, I'm pretty sure I have the most minor violation. I also look like the most "decent" one here.

I turned my gaze back to the front, only to realize the professor was staring at me.

And that's when I noticed...

Nicely combed almond hair, pinkish white skin, a pointed nose, light-colored medium-length eyebrows, soft and full lips pressed together, and the most striking thing-his wide, ocean-blue eyes.

Oh my god, why is he so handsome?

Other professors at SPNU are attractive too, but this one... Wow. He could play an angel in a TV series. His eyes are so blue! His lips look soft but pink, and they're just... so kissable...

Wait, how have I never noticed this ridiculously handsome professor??

"Miss Blanchard,"

"Oh my god!"

I heard some of the other students laugh softly.

I swear, my face is turning bright red. It's so embarrassing! I was so stunned by his looks that I didn't even notice he was calling me! ><

I lowered my head, but I sneaked a quick glance at him. He was trying to suppress his laughter.

Of all days, detention and now I'm embarrassed too! Seriously, Oreo? You really have the worst luck today! Grrr.

I quickly lowered my head again. Please, ground, swallow me whole!!!

"Okay," he sighed. I heard his chair move, and I looked up just casually. He was now standing in front, grabbed a whiteboard marker, and started writing on the board.

He wrote his name: 'Professor Misha Novak.'

Misha? That sounds like a girl's name.

He turned back to us. "You're here because you violated the university rules, correct?" he asked again. His voice sounded so smooth, but he was so serious. Too serious.

"Yes, Sir." we all answered softly.

"Most of you aren't new to this, right?" he asked as he walked towards the side of the platform facing me.

Only they answered. Me? I'm a newbie here. I'm actually a good student.

He suddenly looked at me. "Except for you." Oh great, now I'm really panicking.

I just stared at him. I tried to remain calm so he wouldn't see how nervous I was. I really don't want to look dumb again.

"You were late three times. So, you need to attend three more detentions after this," he explained. Wait, what??

"Three more?? But... Why?" I frowned. Seriously, why not just one?

"Disciplinary measures." His answer was brief as he returned to his desk.

Ugh, seriously. This detention thing is such a hassle, and now there are more to come.

"First, reflect on your mistakes. Think about the wrong you've done and write it down on a piece of paper."

I heard the others grumbling. I didn't like it either, but what can I do? I don't want to add to my violation.
