Chapter 5

If he hadn't repeated himself, I wouldn't believe what I heard from him. Be his secretary? I hadn't done that job for once, but the course I was studying was related to it, so in the future, when I graduate, I could work as one.

Now, thinking of it, did he look into me and find out my course of study? There's no way he could just want me to be his secretary if I had no clue about such a thing. He had previously ordered that I stand, so I did and bowed to him. "Your supremacy, is being your secretary my punishment?" I just needed to know if I was going to be wasting my time with someone and expecting no salary.

He shook his head and folded his hands, "Didn't you just reject your mate to gain my forgiveness?"

I opened my lips to speak, but they hung open. I had rejected Tyrion because I wanted to, but I didn't know that he meant what he said.

"I have already mindlinked my beta to have your brother brought back home from the border. So being my secretary is a job offer which comes with a wage, and the amount will be stated in the service legal agreement that you would sign," he explained and turned to his guard, then nodded at him.

The guard walked towards me and handed the file he had been holding, and after going through the agreement, I almost forgot how to breathe. The salary was top-notch, five times of my monthly salary in the resort. Just to be his secretary?

I glanced around and then looked at myself. I recalled I didn't have good-looking outfits for such a role and quickly dropped the file on the floor. "Your supremacy, I am a poor orphan, and I'm not good enough for this role. I am not fit, please." But deep down, I wanted to have the job.

My wolf sneered in my head, and I clenched my palms into a fist. Deceiving him again would be one mistake I wouldn't want to make. The remaining money in my account would be paid into the hospital account when I get the loan, so they could commence my aunt's surgery, so I had no option, unless he would agree to give me a chance, and I would restock my wardrobe after getting my wage.

I flinched the moment he stood up, and then shook his head. "Follow me!"

My heart wavered. I was a bit scared of what he was up to and hesitated a bit to follow him. The guard gave me a gesture behind him, and I had no choice but to hasten towards the man, my heart beating loudly in my chest.

He reached his car and opened the door, then turned to me, "Step in!"

I wanted to ask questions but was scared to my bones that it would make him cancel every one of his mercies. Did he want to take me home? Goddess, please be with me. I stepped into the car, and then he followed and shut the door. Fear gripped me, and I rumpled my dress with my fingers, avoiding his gaze as much as I could.

"Feel free beside me, but don't mess up," he muttered, and I glanced at him before nodding. At that time, I felt a bit relieved, knowing that surely he wasn't going to harm me.

The car rode carefully, and I clung to the seat like my hope was hung there.

After a long ride, the car stopped. I looked through the tinted glass, and my gaze narrowed. "A boutique?!"

"Alight!" he ordered, and while I was trying to unlock the door, it opened from the outside, and I stepped out and bowed to the guard who stood there.

Alpha walked over to me and stretched his hand. I looked at him, and then his palm, and my lips parted a bit. "You're going to choose enough outfits for your new job, so make sure to choose as many as you want, including footwear, jewelry, makeup, handbags, and they should be the latest editions."

My lips dropped open, and I slowly nodded. I still asked him, "Will all these be slashed from my wages?" so I would know how to make my choice and the amount to take.

He shook his head.

What? He would do all that for me just like that? Aside from being his secretary, was there anything else that he needed from me?

I was drawn out of my daze when he grabbed my hand and began walking, and I trailed beside him. We entered the boutique, and then he left me to be with the sales attendants there.

They walked around with me and I took over twenty different outfits, which I put on and showed them as well. I grabbed as many shoes, jewelry, makeup, and even handbags which I had never dreamt of ever holding.

At the end, staring at the packages, I barely believed my eyes. With all these, wasn't I tangled with this man now? What if being his secretary was a do-or-die affair, and I couldn't leave because of all those?

I slapped my cheek softly, 'There would be nothing like that...' I told myself and walked towards him.

His men grabbed the packages one after the other until it was all finished, then I followed his side again, and we entered the car.

"You'll begin working on Monday, so get set," he said to me, and then the car drove off.

I felt so delighted. So really, I had just bagged a job that a graduate wouldn't have gotten so easily. Should I say that spilling the wine on him brought this or what? But somehow, if I told someone this, they would doubt me.

How easy it was to bag this job from the alpha supreme was mysterious. Wanting me to reject his nephew was somehow, and now giving me a job without me requesting it.

'Can you stop thinking? I need to get over that jerk of a mate we have.' My wolf ranted in my head, and I sighed. 'Yes, ma'am, I will concentrate.' I said to her and smiled inwardly while she wagged her tail.

I hadn't been looking around since the car zoomed off, nor did I know where he was taking me. But as the car suddenly stopped, I realized that I was before our house.

My eyes widened in shock, and I turned to him, "You brought me home?"

"I will assign you a driver so you don't give me excuses for coming late."

I nodded, and now recalled that I was a student and school would soon resume. When this happens, will I be able to manage the job? Or will I have an assistant who would work when I'm at school? Maybe I shouldn't mention that and grab wages for five weeks. It would go a long way to sustain me till I get another part-time job if he refuses that I work part-time.

"Thank you so much!" I bowed to him and began alighting. His guards helped me take out the packages from the car, and before they left, he handed me a little wrapped package, which I was sure wasn't with me all those hours.

I watched their car until it disappeared, then I began going back into the house. When I was about to grab four bags, someone walked up before me. I raised my head, and it was my brother, her eyes so red like someone who had been sobbing.

"You don't know how scared I was when I didn't see you and Aunt." he burst into tears again.

My muscles became so weak that I dropped the bags and rushed over to him, embracing him. It's all thanks to the moon goddess that I got some help, and he was out, now I had to focus on my aunt. "Aunt Mirella is hospitalized, and I will be heading to the hospital soon. I would pay half of the bills so they could begin her surgery...."

"Surgery? What's wrong?" he asked, looking scared, so I explained everything to him, and he even cried more, mumbling that he was the cause of it.

After so much time consoling him, he helped me take the bags inside, then I explained my relationship with the alpha supreme, which at least enlightened his mood. I freshened up, and he insisted on following me to the hospital, so I didn't refuse.

I had locked up the door and was about to meet him on the floor when I inhaled a familiar scent.

My wolf snapped in my head and then whimpered. I looked out to the road, and it was a car, so I knew deep down that it was Tyrion.

If only he could just accept the rejection so we would go our way, because right now, I was with his uncle and would be working for him.

Aslan glanced at me and stepped backwards when Tyrion alighted from his car. He wore a darkened expression, one he never showed me when we dated in secret. Now that he was done with me, I didn't deserve even those fake smiles from him.

"And what business do you have with my uncle? Do you think having him pucknose into our matter would make me let you go?" he asked, his hands in his pockets as he strode closer.

I moistened my lips and climbed down the veranda. It was the first time for my brother to meet him, so I wasn't shocked as to how he stared at Tyrion.

"Unity, if you want to have peace in this pack, then you're going to steer clear of my uncle. He's not the kinda man you should go near. He has Luna and a daughter the same as you, so think twice before you regret it. Don't push me to the wall!" he stated, holding his shoulders high.

I smirked. For some reason I couldn't tell, my heart raced upon hearing that he had a family. For goddess' sake, I thought he was single, not knowing he was old enough to be my father. If that was the case, what was Tyrion scared of? That his uncle would fuck me? He must have heard that I was appointed his secretary.

He watched as I closed the distance between us, then said to him coldly, "You don't need to worry. I prefer older married men, so your uncle is the definition of it."
