Dark Twists Chapter 1

Sally

This is my story, my life. The twists and turns of a thirty-year-old woman. If you'd listen or rather read then you might just be able to imagine being in my shoes.

You might be able to see and feel all that happened in my life. There's nothing worse than being in love with someone, exchanging vows with that someone, loving that someone for over ten tears only to find out that it was all a fake. Ten years of marriage was all fake.

I was on my way back home from a wedding Liz invited me to. I initially did not want to go, but after much pressure from her, I finally got dressed for the wedding.

I decided to use this as an opportunity to have some fun. Having been too occupied with work for months, this was a perfect opportunity to let out some steam.

We got to the church just as the ceremony was about to start. The wedding ceremony wasn't luxurious, it was rather low-key.

The church was on the outskirts of town. Maybe they were a humble couple and didn't want a showy wedding.

There were not many people at the church, but hopefully, the reception would be packed.

The ceremony started by first welcoming the groom. I did not bother looking back to see the groom; after all, he would stand in front of the church, and I would have a full view of him.

My phone made a beep sound and I looked down to see what message I had received. It was from my PA, she had finally sent the documents I asked for.

I heard a grasp from Liz sitting beside me as the priest welcomed the bride. I turned off my phone and looked up. I took a glance at the groom before turning my head in the direction of the bride.

As my eyes lingered on the bride, I couldn't help but picture the groom in my head. It was odd but his image seemed familiar.

My line of sight went back to him, and my whole body froze. My whole system shut down as I stared at the man in black tux smiling widely as the bride walked down the aisle towards him.

I turned to look at Liz as I let out a shaky breath.

Liz looked at me, the same shocked expression on her face. She quickly brought out the invitation card and went through it again. I didn't even wait for her to finish; I grabbed the card from her and read through it.

There in block letters was his name...Francisco Ramon.

I was Sally Ramon, the legally wedded wife of Francisco Ramon so I just couldn't wrap my head around how the groom looked exactly like my husband, why they had the same name and why the hell he was getting married. The confusion was so evident on my face.

"Sally...isn't that you're husband?" Liz asked pointing a finger at him. Just then, his eyes fell in our direction and our eyes met.

I didn't fail to notice the shocked expression on his face but the next moment, it was gone. He looked away from me to the woman in a white wedding dress.

I felt my heart squeezing violently inside my chest as my eyes watered."let's get out of here." I breathed and got up.

The bride was walking towards Francisco in the opposite direction of me.

The only person that should be standing right now was the bride as an old man walked her to the altar but the case was different here. Just as I was about to walk past the woman, I bumped shoulders with her and took a glance at her only to find her smirking at me.

My hands trembled, and my feet felt so wobbly. I felt weak, so damn weak that I found it hard to breathe. My husband was marrying someone else and I had attended the wedding.

I knew Liz felt guilty about what happened, but I was thankful because if Liz hadn't forced me, then I wouldn't have found out that my husband had cheated and was even getting married again.

"I didn't even look at the name, I didn't even realize the name on the invitation," Liz explained.

As we drove back to my house I did nothing but cry. It was too hard to believe. I had hoped that maybe he was my husband's doppelganger but the shocked and guilty look I saw in his eyes proved me wrong.

I couldn't explain how I felt; how was I going to explain to my daughters that their father was going to divorce me and leave us for good?

I didn't have to think too much because the divorce, which I feared, didn't come. Instead, he came home that night with the woman.

I should have questioned him, I should have thrown a tantrum or probably started a fight, but I only stood there watching from the balcony as he drove into our mansion, too weak to even breathe properly.

It was then that I understood why the wedding was low-key. He didn't want it to turn into a scandal.

I called my dad that night. I explained everything to him, but he only said that a man could take as many wives as he wanted as long as it wasn't forbidden or illegal.

Real typical!

Of course, what was I expecting? My dad was a Nigerian so it was very normal to have as many wives as possible. My mum was a white woman but she passed away a year ago.

My mother had cancer. The doctor said that she still had time, but unfortunately, she died so suddenly. I wasn't done grieving my mother and now Cisco added another pang of pain to the one I was feeling.

Due to my status in society, if news got out that my husband had cheated and married behind my back then it would ruin my reputation.

But I won't stand down; he broke our vows, so I'll break him.

Marcus positioned himself precisely one step behind me and to my right, his presence a silent comfort through our private mind-link. *They're all watching for weakness,* he observed, his thoughts flowing into mine with familiar ease. *Then they'll find none,* I replied, scanning the room with measured indifference. Alpha Kaelen Blackwood approached first, his dark eyes evaluating me with the same predatory calculation I recognized in myself. "Alpha Victoria," he greeted, inclining his head just slightly enough to acknowledge my status without suggesting submission. "Your champion has brought considerable attention to the Silvermoon territory." "As intended," I replied coolly, the subtle tap of my index finger against my thigh the only outward sign of my strategic assessment. Ryan Mitchell had indeed brought attention—attention I had meticulously orchestrated over five years of investment. The rogue I'd salvaged from starvation had been molded into a weapon that now represented Silvermoon dominance in combat.
