Corporate Retreat or Financial Ruin? Chapter 1

My name is Samantha Lane. I've forgotten to pay the taxes, and the company's accounts are now frozen. I'm not panicking, but my husband's foster sister, Zoey Quinn, is losing her mind.

In my previous life, Zoey was the one who suggested using her summer bonus to take the entire company on a trip to Slarqia. What I didn't expect was that her supposed generosity would drain every cent from the company's account.

As a result, the company's cash flow collapsed, and I was left buried under hundreds of millions in debt.

When I went to her to ask for the money back, she leaned smugly against my husband's chest and said, "Samantha, I only spent a few tens of millions. How could that bankrupt the company? Don't be so dramatic!"

My husband, Harry Jennings, glared at me with his face twisted in anger. "Samantha, the company's money is marital property. I agreed to let Zoey spend it. Back off, alright?"

I wanted to report it to the police, but they abducted me and smuggled me out of the country. I ended up being tortured to death.

When my coworkers heard the news, they actually cheered. They said I had it coming, like some heartless capitalist had finally gotten her karma.

When I open my eyes again, I'm back on the day Zoey is inviting everyone on a trip to Slarqia.

"Everyone's been working overtime lately. Since the summer bonus just came in, I talked it over with Harry, and we've decided to take everyone on a trip to Slarqia. I'll cover all the expenses," Zoey Quinn said.

The moment those words fell, the office erupted in cheers.

Zoey stood proudly in the middle of the room, basking in the moment.

I watched the familiar scene unfold through the glass wall of my office. That was when I realized that I, Samantha Lane, had been reincarnated.

Before I could steady my breath, Harry Jennings pushed open the door with Zoey by his side.

He slipped an arm around my shoulders, his expression soft and gentle.

"Sam, you've been exhausted lately. Why don't we take a vacation?" he suggested. "Zoey's offering to treat everyone to the trip. She just wants to use your corporate credit card to earn some points and get a discount."

The fake tenderness on his face made me sick to my stomach.

In my previous life, Zoey had borrowed that same corporate credit card and quietly drained every cent from the company's liquid assets. The cash flow collapsed, multiple projects fell apart, and I was left carrying hundreds of millions in losses.

When I confronted them, Zoey nestled against Harry's chest and said, "Samantha, I only spent a few tens of millions. How could that bankrupt the company? Don't try to scare me!"

Harry looked at me suspiciously, as if I were the one scheming. "Samantha, Zoey merely took everyone to Slarqia for a short trip. How much could she have spent? Did your failed investments cause the losses, and now you're trying to pin it on her?"

Rage boiled inside me. I wanted to call the police, but the two of them had me locked away before I could.

Zoey even hired vagrants to humiliate me—and filmed it.

She then sold me overseas. They cut out my organs while I was still breathing, and I died in agony.

I wanted to tear Harry and Zoey to pieces, recalling the suffering from my previous life.

While I was lost in thought, Harry reached into my desk drawer, pulled out my corporate credit card, and handed it to Zoey.

I snapped out of it just in time to grab his arm. "Put that card down!"

Harry froze, confusion flashing across his face. "Sam, what's your problem? We need to book the flights. Don't hold everyone up."

His eyes flickered slightly before Zoey stepped forward and said, "Everyone's been working so hard lately with all the projects going on. We just wanted to do something nice for them on your behalf.

"Samantha, we're such a big company. Surely a trip to Slarqia isn't too much to cover? You didn't secretly move the funds, did you?"

Watching the two of them echo each other in perfect sync, I let out a cold laugh. "Funny. I could've sworn I just heard you say you'd be the one treating everyone. Why use the company's funds, then?"

Zoey lowered her head, her eyes welling up with tears.

The sight made Harry's heart ache. He immediately pushed me aside and placed his hands on Zoey's shoulders. "Zoey has the kindest heart. She only arranged this trip because she felt bad seeing everyone work so hard. Samantha, don't push it. I own half of the company. You don't get to call all the shots."

I sneered at Zoey's act. After everything she had done to me in my previous life, hearing someone call her kind made me sick.

Seeing that I wouldn't back down, Harry turned on his heel and slammed the door on his way out.
