Chapter 5

"What is the meaning of this? How did this get out! How!!" Richard yelled, throwing the remote control to the wall. The remote control smashed against the wall and broke into bits. "What the hell is on the news? How did this get out so fast? I expected the news to be released but not so soon. It's just been 7 hours since Elena got married!" Richard remarked angrily, his eyes stared at the tv with a grim expression on his face. Esther couldn't help but frown, how the hell did this news get to the media so fast, she had made sure she bought all the news channels. When she looked up from her thoughts, her husband had disappeared into the room and swiftly he was back again. "My assistant said, this news was first started by a very small media outlet before it became a wide fire. I thought I told you to buy over all the media outlets for the day!" Richard remarked, giving her an icy stare. Esther coughed, "I bought the media outlets like you asked me to. I bought the big and major companies because they are the ones that usually spread news in this manner, but I didn't expect a small business to actually find out." "That is your problem Esther! You underestimate people a lot, you believe only big people can get something. How did you even end up getting married to me?" Richard asked with a snort, the woman was always so careless. Esther's nose tingles, the urge to cry came crashing down on her but she tried to hold herself back from crying. Her eyes tingled too from the tears trying to free themselves. "Don't you dare shed your tears here! First of all, let's find a solution to all these. This news must have gotten to the patriarch already, not only will he be furious, he might do something to our family out of rage." "You had one job and all you did was ruin it." Richard muttered typing on his phone, he was trying to shut down all the news on the internet. Vanessa rushed into the house furiously, she threw her bag on the ground immediately she came in, tears falling from her face. "Daddy, help me. They refused to give me the singing endorsement, it was won by the mysterious singer. They don't even know her, why would they pick her over me... Daddy please help me get the endorsement." Vanessa cried holding her father from behind. She failed to note the angry expression in his eyes, she constantly shook him crying pitiful tears so he would help her. Esther shook her head silently trying to gesture to her daughter to step away but her daughter was acting childish. "Dad! Aren't I your daughter anymore? Aren't I the one you love the most? Why aren't you responding to me! Daddy please help your princess! Woooo~" Vanessa cried childishly. When she felt her father was not replying to her, she came in front of him only to be met with his dark expression, she coughed awkwardly.  "Daddy is everything okay? Why is your expression so dark?" Vanessa questioned, she was ready to turn towards her mom for answers when a loud slap rang out. Vanessa's face swooped to one side with her neck bent, she placed her hand on her cheek with wide surprised eyes. "Richard! "You had one job, all you had to do was stay away from trouble and not get yourself on the news. But you didn't anyway and now, you are not the only one in trouble. We all are!" "But still you have the nerve to ask me for an endorsement deal? Does this current problem not bother you even a bit? Why do you keep acting spoiled when you are not a child?" Richard remarked angrily. Tears sprouted out of Vanessa's eyes, she didn't do anything wrong but she was slapped so hard. It would have been better if she was married to that crippled man that face this kind of torture from her father. Crying silently, Vanessa bent her head. Esther was in pain seeing her daughter like this, she sent a glare towards her husband.  "This is none of her fault! She wasn't the one who spread the news of herself anyway, so why blame her? If you want to blame somebody, then blame me! Blame me for not doing a proper job of buying the media well!" "Not my daughter!" Esther yelled patting Vanessa's back and trying to console her, she sent her husband a sharp glare before pulling Vanessa with her and they walked out of the room. Richard sighed, he ran his hand through his hair numerous times. He didn't know what had come over him but he had to resolve the issues now, later he would talk and try to apologize to his family. Elena sat on the bed watching the news, she stared at the entertainment news with a blank expression. It was faster than she had expected, her sister must have infuriated someone again to get disgraced publicly. Even when the knob of her door was pushed open, Elena was too lost in thoughts to take notice. She wondered who her sister had angered this time around to get dragged publicly on the internet. "You like thinking a lot." Dr. Claire remarked, popping a gum. Elena turned her head towards the doctor, although she was tired earlier, now she had the chance to have a proper look at the doctor. Dr. Claire's hair was short and resting perfectly well on her shoulders. Her legs were long and she was tall, something she had failed to notice earlier. She also wore glasses like other doctors, only Elena felt those glasses were just for fancy. "Now, have you fallen in love with me? I know nobody can resist a gorgeous woman like me, I expected you to have more self control. What will the master say, if he knows his wife is taking an interest in me? Dr. Claire wriggled her brows playfully, she stepped forward with an unexplainable smile on her lips. Her eyes went to the tv but it stayed only for some moments before it returned back to Elena.

The Billionaire's Surprise: Her Secret Twins

I returned to the Reeves estate after five years in exile, not as the rightful heir, but as an outcast. My father had been dead for only a month, and my uncle Julian had already claimed his mahogany desk, his face tight with a greed he no longer bothered to hide. Julian didn't even look up as he slid a check for a hundred thousand dollars across the wood. "A settlement," he sneered. "Sign the waiver, take your bastards, and disappear. We don't want you embarrassing the family name anymore." One hundred thousand dollars for a legacy worth billions—it was an insult designed to draw blood. When my five-year-old twins, Leo and Mia, ran into the room, Julian looked at them with pure disgust, calling them vermin and ordering them out. He threatened that if I didn't sign, I’d be on the street in a week, stripped of the Reeves name and every penny of protection. Even the family lawyer looked away as he helped facilitate my ruin. I tore the check to shreds and walked out into a freezing deluge, shielding my children while the doors of my childhood home slammed shut behind us. I spent years building a secret life as a high-level corporate fixer, yet when I crossed paths with Branson Reeves—the man who shared my son’s eyes—he treated me like a common gold-digger. He outbid me for the "Midnight Orchid" painting, the only piece of evidence that could bring Julian down, mocking my "thrift store" clothes while my children slept in a borrowed guest room. How could they all be so blind? How could a family be so ready to destroy its own blood for the sake of a ledger? I was done hiding in the shadows. When Julian finally launched a hostile takeover to seize the entire empire, I walked into Branson’s penthouse, dropped my "poor niece" facade, and threw a decrypted file onto his desk. "The game is over, Branson. Give me that painting, and I’ll show you exactly how to bury the man who thinks he's already won."
