Chapter 2

"So this is true?" Sienna yelled. "You lied to me about going to a diplomatic meeting only to secretly fly out my stepsister and get married to her. You both are demons."

"I should have blamed myself first of all for deciding to do good to her. Now the good has turned to bad."

"Are you insane, what are you talking about?" Sienna felt like pulling over a rod and hitting him so hard in the head for pretending as though he didn't get what she was saying.

"Are you calling me crazy now?" She asked.

"Yes, because I don't know what's wrong with you. I'm getting married to my fated mate, the love of my life. So that's not your fucking business. Remain the wife which you are," he sneered.

"What wife?" Dera scolded.

"I'm sorry baby," Gray pleaded. Sienna gnashed her teeth, folding her fingers into a ball. She was vibrating inside of her. She even heard both of them kissing, they were doing this to hurt her, she knew well.

"I'll make sure both of you pay for this crime you've committed!"

"Wait, madam mistress….." Dera said with a chuckle. "I hope you know I'm in control now. I'm his Luna. Stop living in illusion!" She barked.

"You can do nothing! He's mine!" With this, she hung up, leaving Sienna gazing into space in horror as she slowly lowered the phone from her ears.

"I can't believe this is true!"

"I can't believe this is happening!!"

She was drained of tears and sweat, still sitting on the floor. Slowly she stood up from the floor and walked to the bed, sitting on the side. All the knocks on the door seemed like a trance, a mere imagination to her.

She couldn't still buy the fact that she had lost her husband, her chosen mate who was more than a fated mate to another girl. Worst was, it was a girl she knew and loved, a girl who always called her 'ma' am.'

She quickly resorted to messaging.

"Gray," She replied. The message popped up on Gray's screen. He was still online.

"We have been together for three years and during these three years, I abandoned my work to be a full-time housewife so I can cater for your needs when you're back from your office as the Alpha."

"Aren't you satisfied, what did you want again from me? If anything, why didn't you tell me? Wouldn't I do it for you?" She was almost moved to tears again. She dropped a teary emoji.

"Can you tell me exactly what you want that I haven't given you, is it sex, food, attention, respect? I even get to kneel willingly for you without you compelling me, I'm pretty sure not all wives do that for their husbands."

She paused to swallow some saliva as she was choking. Gray was reading all this but he gave no single answer.

"Why would you still go secretly to take that petit, little brat as your wife?" She attached yelling stickers, as she was fuming up seeing him read through her messages but not saying anything.

“She's my mate and I love her more than you. I had to go for my heart, she gives me calm and makes my wolf strong!" Gray replied, at last, hurting Sienna so much.

This response wounded her more.

Sienna froze. It was as though someone slit her throat.

"But….. Mmm," she was confused and didn't know what to say.

"You're my chosen mate! She's my fated mate." Alpha Gray typed.

"I'm sorry, I know how you would be feeling now but there's nothing you can do. I had to do this!" His message seemed sympathetic, but in actual sense, he was grinning hard with Dera.

"Leave that fool! She's nothing more than a fool." They both burst out laughing.

"Sometimes, the truth is the hardest to hear." She told herself that Sienna was getting to believe this reality. She smirked.

"They will surely pay for it!"

Alpha Gray spent a three-week honeymoon with Dera, his new mate before returning to the Harlow Pack.

His wife met him with a deadly gaze.

Without saying a word, Alpha Gray knew what was in his wife's mind.

"My little mate, I promise won't stop you from the position which you are, as the Luna."

"I'm not after that, but you. Why would you dare do such a thing after you stood before you made a blood covenant with me, promising me in the name of the moon goddess that you will never get a second wife?"

"Why did you give me hope that you would never look for another girl, no matter if she was your fated mate?"

All these, Alpha Gray did only to end up going against his promise. This is what hurt Sienna the most. She had great hope for him.

"No woman wants to share her husband with any other woman, and no responsible man would get into an affair with a young adult behind his wife's back!" She barked at him in the face.

"So you call me a fool now for choosing to be with my mate?" He gave her a hard slap before everyone who was gathered on the estate's ground floor to welcome him back.

"What?" Sienna yelled in horror. "How dare you do this to me?"

"Because you've forgotten how to talk to your Alpha with respect!"

"Let's go in!" He uttered to Dera as he grabbed her by the wrist.

Sienna was still standing there, without motion. Everyone had a look of horror, they never thought their Alpha could act this way. Alpha Gray was always the gentle, loving, and caring husband to Luna Sienna. Even other married women and single girls were jealous of her and wished they had such a man.

"Hey baby," Carla, Sienna's cousin, emerged from the crowd running to meet with her cousin. She didn't mind the crowd, she called her Luna by the fond name she gave her.

The harvest moon hung low over the Silvermoon Pack territory, casting silver shadows across the celebration grounds. I stood at the edge of the main hall, clipboard in hand, watching Grant move through the crowd with the natural grace of a born leader. My heart did that familiar flutter every time his deep laugh carried across the room, every time he threw his head back in genuine amusement at something one of the visiting dignitaries said. Stop it, Harper. You're his assistant, nothing more. But then his eyes would find mine across the room, holding my gaze for just a moment too long, and my carefully constructed walls would crumble. Tonight felt different somehow. The air between us crackled with something electric, something dangerous. "Harper." His voice, warm and commanding, made me jump. I hadn't heard him approach.

The bell above the door of *The Gilded Claw* chimed softly as I stepped inside, the scent of sage and old parchment washing over me. It was a stark contrast to the sterile, modern smell of the Silver Lake Pack House, and for a moment, I let my shoulders drop. Here, amidst the dusty relics and enchanted trinkets, I didn't have to be the trembling, wolfless Omega everyone thought I was. "Miss Hayes," the shopkeeper, an elderly warlock named Elias, greeted me with a bow that was far too deep for a girl in faded jeans and a thrift-store sweater. His milky eyes lingered on me, seeing something no one else in this town bothered to look for. "Your commission is ready." He placed a velvet box on the counter. I opened it, my breath hitching. Inside lay a dagger forged from pure moonstone, the blade shimmering with an iridescent glow that seemed to pulse in time with my own heartbeat. It was a courting gift. A promise.

Just because I accidentally spilled hot water on Bailee Rose, my mate’s Beta, he locked me in the pack’s sauna for eight hours. Right before I lost consciousness, Rhys Kennedy, the Alpha of the Crimson Fang Pack, finally sent someone to get me out. He stood over me, his towering frame casting a shadow, his voice low and commanding, “This is just a small lesson. If I ever see you hurt Bailee again, next time, it won’t be this easy for you.” I lay on the stretcher, my body weak but my voice steady. “Alright,” I said, knowing better than to argue with an Alpha. ============================== On the day I was discharged, I stood outside the packhouse and overheard lively chatter inside. The voices carried through the open windows, sharp and mocking. “Alpha Rhys, if you dislike Adelaide so much, why not just reject her?” Colin Harris, a Gamma in the pack, asked smugly. Rhys made a noise of irritation, his deep voice rumbling. “My mother, the Luna, insists that only Adelaide can initiate the rejection.

The first rays of dawn filtered through the silk curtains of my room in the pack house, painting everything in shades of gold and rose. Today was the day. After ten years of waiting, of growing together, of building something beautiful from childhood friendship into destined love, Elian and I would finally complete our mate ceremony. I stretched beneath the covers, my hand instinctively moving to rest on my still-flat stomach. The pregnancy was so new that even I could barely believe it—a miracle, Dr. Mitchell had called it, given the rarity of Alpha fertility. The timing felt perfect, like the Moon Goddess herself had blessed our union with this gift. Downstairs, I could hear the bustling activity that had started before sunrise. Pack members moved with purpose through the corridors, their voices carrying excitement and warmth. The ceremonial grounds behind the pack house would be transformed into something magical by evening, with white flowers and silver ribbons honoring the Moon Goddess who had brought Elian and me together all those years ago.

I found out Axton had taken a mate when their child was already born. In the pack hall, his friend Stefan asked him how he planned to explain it to me. He just scoffed: “It’s natural for a future Alpha to have a mate and a chosen companion. She has no right to demand an explanation from me.” “Besides, Victoria is possessive. It’s better not to tell her yet, or she might do something reckless to harm my child.” We’d grown up together, and three years ago, I left for a pack ceremony. He promised me, “It’ll always be just you and me. When you return, we’ll have our mark ceremony.” This time, I didn’t cry or beg him to explain why he’d broken his promise. I turned and left, accepting the mate bond with Josue Cruz. Finally, I let go of my love for him. ......

The baby kicked inside me as I sat alone in our barely furnished quarters, my hands resting on my swollen belly. Today was my birthday—not that it mattered to anyone in the Silvercrest Pack. Especially not to Bear. I glanced at the clock for the hundredth time. 8:17 PM. The pack house across the grounds was lit up like a Christmas tree, laughter and music floating through the evening air. Someone was having a celebration tonight. "Did you hear about the Alpha Summit gala?" A female voice drifted through my open window—two pack members chatting as they passed by. "Katherine looks stunning in that new designer dress. Alpha Bear spared no expense." My stomach tightened.
