Chapter 3

As soon as he saw she wasn't running anymore, the guy slowed down and began walking gently towards her, "Why are you still standing outdoors at such a late hour? Allow me to transport you to your destination."

She gradually became aware of his presence under the street light. Among his peers in the Department of economics and management, he is a top student. Despite the fact that she has no opportunity to contact him during normal business hours, she met him at the school's award ceremony when she was an outstanding student in the Department of foreign languages, and his sympathetic eyes made a lasting effect on her.

Bran Black is his given name! Their brows did, in fact, seem to be quite similar. What made her assume he wasn't Ervin Black's brother in the first place?

Despite the fact that he seems to be soft and elegant, he may really be the younger brother of the demon, and his dignified demeanor may be to conceal the essence of the wicked devil.

She glanced at Bran Black, who was approaching her step by step, with terror in her eyes, recalling Ervin Black's naked invasion of her body a few moments before. He was going to reach out to her when she whirled around and bolted from the scene in an instant. Bran Black seemed perplexed by her actions.

He hurried after her and said, "I'm coming for you!" "Greetings, my name is Bran Black! We've had a number of meetings.Do you have any impression of who I am?" Although she understands that he was once simply a student who had captured her heart when their eyes met, she was terrified after speaking with his brothers a few minutes earlier. Bran Black chased after her. Despite the fact that he was taller than she, he was still a significant distance away from her.

He would never forget that this outstanding young lady had won the track and field champion award at the school sports meeting on several occasions. He could only gaze at her back. It was four o'clock in the morning when Eva returned home from work.

Everyone, fortunately, was fast sleeping. When she returned so late, no one could believe she was ashamed. It was only when she was alone that she saw the door to her father and stepmother's room, as well as the door to the room of another sibling who was not connected to her.

When she was finished, she went to her room quietly. Just as the light was being switched on, she was startled by the sight of the tall and slender figure on the window ledge, and her fearful heart started to pound in a frantic rhythm yet another time. "Can you tell me what you're doing in my room?"

Eva approached the door and reached inside the room, where she switched on the light. In front of the windowsill sits a little guy who is the stepmother's son.

Carvin Levis is his given name. He is a sophomore who is three years younger than she. After his father's second marriage, he returned to his childhood home with his mother.

She had the impression that he gazed at her with dirty eyes at the start , which made her feel uneasy about being alone with him in the middle of the night for the first time. "I'm sitting here waiting for you to return." Carvin Levis snooped about her garments, as if hunting for evidence, with a wicked expression on his face.

He quickly discovered that she had forgotten to carry her suitcase. "What's going on?" She remained warily on the other side of the door. "The first time you returned home in the middle of the night, I was kind enough to let you into my house. You just treated me so coldly?"

Carvin Levis sprang down from the ledge, strolled over to her with a playful grin, glanced down at her apprehension, and felt a sense of tremendous accomplishment. "I'm exhausted, and I have no interest in your amusement!"

Eva stomped up to him and dragged him out of the room, furiously. When she tried to kick him out of the house, however, she forgot that he was already a man with a height of 1.8 meters.

In a matter of seconds, he stopped her by shutting the door with one hand and looking at her through the gap of the door, "I'm well aware of your feelings for me, stepmother's son! In everyone's eyes, though, I am a well-behaved and reasonable youngster. I'm sure no one would believe it even if I raped you now."

When she saw that he had abruptly altered his expression and threatened her, she wanted to lock the door, but his power was much more than hers, so she refrained. It took less than five seconds for her to be thrown to the ground.

To the Dark Moon Pack, I wasn't just invisible; I was a stain. Dean Lee, the Alpha designed for my soul, treated me like a shameful secret while he paraded his mistress, Karina, in red silk. The night of the Charity Auction, Dean bought my late mother's moonstone pendant—the only thing I had left of her—for a hundred thousand dollars. I begged him for it. Instead, he clasped it around Karina's ankle. With a cruel laugh, Karina stomped her stiletto heel, crushing the moonstone into dust. Dean just watched, his eyes cold and unfeeling. "It was just a cheap rock," he said. "I'll buy you diamonds." But the cruelty didn't stop at emotional torture. When rogues attacked, Dean used me as live bait to distract them from Karina. He threw me into the Blood Pit, a gladiator arena, to fight a massive Feral wolf while he sat in the VIP box with Karina on his lap. "She won't last three minutes," I heard him say through our dying bond. He watched with bored detachment as I was ripped apart, refusing to save me even as I screamed his name. He saved the mistress and drowned the mate. I died on that arena floor. Or so he thought. Years later, the mysterious and world-renowned artist "H.Y." returned to New York for a gallery opening. When Dean saw me on stage, he rushed forward, tears streaming down his face, trying to claim the wife he had mourned. "Hayley," he choked out, reaching for me. "You're alive. You're mine." I didn't cry. I didn't run. I unleashed a shockwave of ancient White Wolf energy that blasted him across the room, shattering the glass displays. "I don't take orders from dogs anymore," I said, looking down at him. "I, Hayley York, hereby reject you."

I was standing in five thousand dollars of hand-stitched lace when I received the medical report. My fiancé, Dante de Rossi, the future Don of Chicago, had gotten another woman pregnant. He didn't apologize. He didn't beg. He looked me in the eye and called it a "strategic necessity." "Isobel saved my life five years ago," he said coldly. "I owe her this child. You will raise it as your own. It is the price of the Peace Treaty." He forced me to cancel our engagement photos so he could take them with her. He took her on the vacation meant for our honeymoon. At dinner, he ordered me the seafood risotto, completely forgetting my deadly shellfish allergy, while fussing over Isobel’s water temperature. When I tried to leave, he cornered me. "You are a mob wife, Nina. Act like one. She is the hero who saved me." I wanted to laugh. Because five years ago, in that alley, Isobel wasn't even there. I was the one in the mask. I was the one who stitched his femoral artery and saved his life, risking my own medical license. He was destroying our twenty-year relationship to pay a debt to a liar. I didn't scream. I didn't fight. I simply picked up a red marker and walked to the calendar. I left him nothing but four words scrawled across the date: "Let's break up, Dante."

"How can you smile like that when neither of your fathers are here at your own wedding reception?" Pond asked, eyeing Dunk, who stood in the gallery, smiling towards his newly-wedded husband. Dunk's smile didn't waver, but his eyes darkened. He turned to Pond, voice sharp, "Do you think I don't care? That I'd go against them on purpose?" Pond responded without hesitation, "Aren't you doing exactly that?" "No, I'm not," Dunk snapped. His voice dropped lower, colder. "I'm standing here for my pride-the same pride he crushed. I'm not a child who goes crying to his parents. He destroyed me, P'Pond. Now it's my turn. I'm going to destroy his life-completely." Pond looked shaken. "You can't marry someone for revenge, Dunk. I told you-I'm here for you. I'll never let anyone from the Guthithanan family hurt you again." Dunk's voice cracked as he exploded, "But he crossed the line that night!" He scanned the room and quickly pulled Pond into a quieter corner. His voice was low and furious. "He shattered everything I had. And now, with this marriage, I'm going to make him live with the consequences. He's trapped with me now-forever. I won't let him walk away so easily." His gaze flicked across the room-directly to Joong, who stood beside Sarawat, calmly speaking to a business partner. Joong caught Dunk's stare and instinctively looked his way. Dunk raised his champagne glass with a mocking smile. A toast to war. Joong clenched his jaw, returning the gesture coolly-but his burning eyes slid to Pond, full of rage and warning.
