Bound to the billionaire Chapter 1

An annoyed sigh escapes my lips.

New York was famous for its crazy lengthy traffic and while it may not be as crazy as the traffic Shu -my friend- claims is in Beijing, it sure is to make a person go crazy especially on a Monday morning.

I draw my lips gently in between my teeth wondering if I should walk the remaining distance to work or risk being late by sitting in the uber. My eyes fall on the man sitting by the side of a Dunkin shop on the pavement, his palms open and a scarf covering his face despite it being summer.

I stare at his shirt which was neat in contrast to his trousers, his backpack held close to his chest as he watched people walk past him.

My heart peels out of my chest.

Freshly homeless?

Ok. Change of plans.

I grab my bag and step out of the uber making sure to pay with a small sorry.

“Here” I pull out the lunch I had packed for myself handing it over to the man watching as his dull brown eyes light up.

“Are you sure?” he asked, his voice low and cracky.

“Sure! Apparently I don’t like cheese as much as I thought.” I give him what I think is a disarming smile but by the contorted look on his face, it might as well be an alien proving his paternity by my smile.

“Alright, thank you.” he reaches out to accept it.

“You know, down the street, just around the corner at the 31st, an organization shares meals there every Thursdays.”

He looks up at me again, “I see. Shouldn’t you be going?’’

I frown, ‘is he telling me off?’

“I should.” I say nodding my head slowly while he just looks at me.

‘Whatever. I'd better get to work.’ I say in my mind and turn away abruptly.

“What the fuck?!!” I screech, staring down at brown liquid stain spreading over my white shirt fast.

“Shit. My coffee.” A cold voice says from above me.

“Fuck!. Couldn’t you look at where you’re going?” I yell, searching my bag frantically for tissues.

“Lady, you just wasted my entire coffee.” a self-concieted voice speaks above my head.

“The fuck? You spilled your coffee on me.” I say emphasizing the ‘your’ while dabbing the spreading stain with tissues that do nothing to help.

“I’m very busy and I don’t have time to trade words with you. But, I’ll give you this advice, Next time look at where you are going.” The cold voice speaks again.

Now, I’m a fairly decent person, but right now, my anger is about to boil over the top because this person is exasperating.

I raise my head, ready to put this guy in his place but my mouth forgets how to speak for a moment as my eyes hit the most beautiful face I’d ever come across since my birth.

He stood tall in an Armani suit, broad muscled shoulders that seem perfect for the term, ‘I’ll give you my shoulders to lean on’, his skin had this olive warmth tone to it but his eyes were the ones that captured me.

Piercing green eyes stared right at my soul, almost hypnotizing me to agree the coffee spill was my fault.

Thick wavy brown hair curled over his ears, long in the back reaching the nape of his neck with the hair acting unruly that made me want to run my fingers through in order to correct it.

But he pushes it back with a careless practiced sweep that made my hand instantly jealous that his got to touch such gorgeous hair.

“Done gaping at me?”

“W--wh--a -wh-at?” I splutter my cheeks heating up.

“You need to apologize for wasting my coffee. Naturally, I’d say you should get me another but I don’t want to take all your life savings.”

My mouth opens again, “What the ---. you are incredulous! And since I’m not sure your dumb brain will know the meaning, let me spell it out for you in simple terms, YOU ARE CRAZY.”

He stares at me with a scoff, bending to reach my height, “You sure about that with the way you’re the one closer to hell?”

I gasp in surprise, turning my body to the side to allow someone pass by me,“The fuuuuck did you just say to me?. You were the one with your attention on your phone while walking.”

“I’m busy. I have to get to a meeting. See you never hopefully.” he says giving me a mocking smile, putting his hand on my shoulder pushing me sideways causing me to stumble.

I grab his phone out of his hand in annoyance.

“Now that’s completely childish. Give me my phone.” he turns back, his eyes flashing.

“Since you lack enough common sense, I’m curious what this life lesson will do for you.” I say, and hurl the phone down the pavement, a smile coming to form on my lips as I hear a satisfying crack.

“What the heck, lady!” he yells and runs after his phone.

“Hmmph. What a crazy guy, don’t you think?” I sneer pointing to the direction where the conceited handsome god ran to.

“Not really.” the beggar replies me, his mouth full of the lunch I had given him.

I roll my eyes, realizing that we had just been entertainment for this man. Plus, so much for not expecting anything in return, the least he could have done was to support me.

“Why are you staring at me?” I snap.

“Aren’t you going to work?” he asks, taking another mouthful of the meal.

“Work!” my eyes widen and I begin running towards my workplace. Even the uber I took earlier was nowhere to be found on the road.

Honestly, that handsome god has to be a cursed one, because I’m at creeping into the office crouching while hoping no-one will notice I’m late or my coffee stained shirt.

“Hazel!”

Shit. I spoke too soon.

The greenhouse was my sanctuary in a pack house that had never felt like home. Dawn hadn't yet broken when I slipped inside, the familiar scent of damp soil and blooming flowers wrapping around me like an embrace I'd long been denied elsewhere. My fingers trembled slightly as I reached for the watering can—a weakness I couldn't afford to show outside these glass walls. I focused on the white lilies, my favorites. Their pure petals reminded me of what I once was—hopeful, untainted. Before the mate bond that became my prison. "You're wilting too, aren't you?" I whispered to a drooping bloom, gently supporting its stem. My wolf, Luna, whimpered softly in the back of my mind. Once silver and strong, she now barely stirred, weakened by the sickness that had been consuming us both since I gave too much blood to save William three years ago. A sudden tremor ran through my bones, stronger than the usual morning weakness.

I asked my reflection, adjusting the moonstone pendant that had been my mother's. It was the last thing she'd given me before passing, and I wore it only on special occasions. My wolf, Aria, purred with satisfaction. *He'll love it. You've prepared his favorite meal.* I glanced at the dining room table, set with our finest china and candles. The roast was resting, vegetables steaming, and a bottle of aged red wine—Tyson's favorite—hidden in the car for the final touch. "He should be home any minute," I murmured, checking my phone.
