Back to Life: Their Regret, My Revenge Chapter 1

My younger sister Avery Denning's fiance, Timothy Lane, is injured by a raging bull on the eve of their wedding. Timothy ends up impotent because of the incident.

Refusing to marry an impotent man, Avery flees from the wedding.

I gaze at Timothy, abandoned, along with my humiliated parents. My parents then beg me to marry Timothy instead, to which I agree.

Since marrying Timothy, I've shouldered the burden of juggling household chores and outside work, working tirelessly from morning till night. He miraculously recovers from his impotence and even becomes the wealthiest man in town.

But Avery suddenly returns on the day Timothy is officially announced as the wealthiest man in Greenwood Vale. She sobs as she explains that she didn't flee the wedding of her own will.

Instead, Avery claims that I had tricked her into going into the mountains to search for a miraculous berry that could cure Timothy's impotence. She also claims that I had struck her unconscious on said mountain range.

Timothy immediately believes Avery's lies. He angrily slaps me and even tosses me into a river to drown. My words fall on deaf ears, and I swiftly pull Timothy and Avery down into the river with me.

When I next wake up, I am back to the day of my wedding to Timothy. This time, Avery shows up, too. But what they don't know is that without me, Timothy will never recover from his impotence nor become the wealthiest man in Greenwood Vale.

Timothy Lane grew upset the moment he found that the bride was me. "Amelia Denning, why are you here? I'm supposed to be marrying Avery! I demand an explanation right now!"

Before I could react, my parents, John Denning and Kate Hilton, shared a glance and quickly said, "Oh, Timmy, Amelia insisted on marrying you. She even threatened to kill herself if we didn't let her! Avery was driven away from home by her, so we had no choice but to let Amelia marry you instead!"

I returned to my senses, shocked by what Dad and Mom had just said. They were the ones who'd begged me to marry Timothy. Why was I the one who'd insisted on it now?

Timothy immediately slapped me across the cheek. "If it weren't for your meddling, Avery and I wouldn't have wasted so many years apart in our previous life! Tell me where Avery is right now, or I'll make sure you never live to see another day!"

His slap shook me to my core, waking me up. Only then was I fully conscious of the fact that both Timothy and I had been reborn.

I glared angrily at him and said, "Avery didn't want to marry you and fled from home because of your impotence!"

Timothy naturally didn't believe me. He wrapped a hand around my throat and cried, "Liar! How could Avery not want to marry me when she loves me so much? You must have tricked her and made her leave again!"

Chaos erupted in the hall. I was unable to breathe because of how tight Timothy's grip around my neck was, yet none of the onlookers came to my aid. They just continued to watch the scene unfold.

Just then, my younger sister Avery Denning's voice rang out from the door. "I'm back, Timothy! I'm here to marry you!"

Timothy let go of my neck and quickly took my bridal veil from me before draping it on Avery's head.

I was shocked. It seemed like the three of us—me, Avery, and Timothy—had been reborn.

In our previous lives, a raging bull had struck Timothy's lower body while he was farming. The doctor had said he'd be impotent for the rest of his life and wouldn't be able to perform his marital duties.

Avery had cried over the news for hours on end. She had then snuck out of the house with her belongings in the middle of the night.

Dad had worried ceaselessly afterward, while Mom sobbed about how our family's reputation was tarnished. She then suggested I marry Timothy to make up for Avery's actions.

Unwilling to see my parents so distraught, I agreed to take Avery's place in marrying Timothy. Plus, Timothy had a pretty good reputation in town, too.

When Timothy heard about what had happened, he held me in his arms excitedly and said, "You're the only woman who truly loves me, Amelia."

After we married, I focused on our family. I worked hard every day and even sought out cures from doctors to reverse Timothy's impotence.

But we lived a poor life. We never knew if we would have enough for our next meal. Yet, just when we were at our wits' end, a stranger came to our town and took Timothy under his wing. The stranger taught Timothy how to run a business and promised him riches.

With the help of this stranger, Timothy's business flourished. He became the first man in town to have a monthly income of more than ten thousand dollars. A couple of years later, Timothy's business expanded nationwide. He then became the wealthiest man in Greenwood Vale.

I had thought that our days would continue in this manner, but Avery's reappearance shattered our peaceful lives.

Avery turned up at my doorstep, tears flowing down her face as she explained that she hadn't abandoned Timothy those years ago. She claimed that I had tricked her into going to the mountains to search for a miraculous berry that could cure Timothy's impotence and that I had knocked her unconscious when she went there.

Timothy didn't even hesitate to believe Avery's sordid lies. He slapped me right then and there and tossed me into the river for me to drown.

I had tried to explain myself, but neither of them wanted to listen. In the end, I'd angrily dragged them down into the water with me. The three of us had then drowned.

I gazed at the lovebirds, trying to brush off the insult and humiliation I had suffered in my previous life. If Avery and Timothy wanted to be with each other so badly, I would make sure that they got their wish.
