Chapter 79

The next morning, the Prime Minister wasn't able to go back to the hospital but that doesn't stop his wife from packing a whole feast of food and went alone to visit their children

She is too excited to finally feed Cyrus the food that she cooked by herself.

The pure blood omega is smiling from ear to ear when he enters the hospital but her smile slowly fades when she discovers that Cyrus’s suite is empty.

"W-where is my son?!" the older woman asked to the security guard standing outside the suite.

"Ma'am that's why I was trying to stop you a while ago to tell you that Mr. Carter and his mate are not here but you ignored me and---"

"Where are they then if they're not here? They're not supposed to go home yet and he would probably call me if they did!" Iris snapped at the security guard  because to be honest, even when she knows that there's no threat to Cyrus’s life anymore, she can't stop being anxious. They just got their youngest son back and she has no plan of losing him again.

"The nurse from Mr Knight came to inform them that sir is finally awake ma'am." the guard replied with a smile.

Iris didn't even thank the young alpha she sprinted towards her eldest son's suite. She didn't even knock on the door as she entered Knight’s room.

"Kni---" her mouth hangs open with the scene inside the suite.

Knight was already awake and still lying in his bed. Aria is sitting beside him  while Cyrus is standing behind his mate. Kiana is busy eating fruits on the sofa with her nanny. There was no unusual sight inside the suite until Iris spotted the silver necklace in Cyrus’s hand while glaring at his brother.

"Knight... C..Cyrus?" Iris spoke trying to break the tension between the brothers but neither of the two paid her attention. They just continued to stare at each other as if they were measuring each other's strength by who could knit their eyebrows closer at the center of their foreheads.

Aria sighs when she sees how the brothers ignored their mother. She decides to purposely fake coughs to break the silence in the room and thankfully, she succeeded.

"You're coughing again? You can't go near Kiana if you are coughing Angel. You'll---"

"Angel? Who do you think you are calling Angel?" Cyrus cuts in

Knight raised his eyebrow at the younger. He already knows that Cyrus knows about their family because Ari was here when he first woke up a few hours ago. The omega has already filled him in about the things he missed including the death of the people who tried to ruin their lives. He is aware that Cyrus already knows that they're brothers so he won't waste the chance he gets to annoy the younger  because that's what older brothers do right?

"Ashbourne? aren't you gonna call me big brother now? Besides, what's wrong if I call Aria my angel? She---"

"I swear to Luna if you call her that again, I'll make sure to rip those wounds open." Cyrus snaps.

He doesn't want to admit it, but hearing his older brother's healthier voice makes him happy on the inside. He may never admit it out loud but he got worried when he saw the state of the older pure blood before his surgery.

"Call me Big brother first."

"NO."

"Why not?"

"Oh Luna , can you stop! You're annoying!"

"But you're also and Aria will always be my angel!"

"Stop it!" Cyrus' voice got a little louder but when he saw the fond smile on Knight’s face, he got more flustered. He hates how his wolf wants to nuzzle the older pure blood right there and then.

"She’s  my angel because she guided  my little brother back to me, to us. Welcome back Zayden, or shall I get used to calling you Rus too?”

Everyone in the room fell into silence, but this time it's not awkward or tension filled silence.

Cyrus and Knight stared at each other, their faces softened, their wolves howling in excitement. The two are smiling at each other already when Kiana screams, breaking the eye contact between the two.

"Uncle Knight why you're making daddy cwy?" The little girl is pouting while trying to get down from the sofa.

"Hey Princess, uncle isn't making daddy cry. I'm just very happy baby. Remember when I told you that sometimes people cry because of joy? This is tears of joy." Cyrus explained to his daughter whose eyes are now looking at Knight too as if she's making sure her daddy's telling her the truth.

"Uncle Deedee said, uncle Knight is now Kiki’s uncle.  So daddy don't fight with him, okay?" the little girl said with a smile on her face that made everyone in the room smile at her too.

It's lunch time and Aria  expected Cyrus to join them and enjoy the food brought by his mother but to her surprise, she saw her mate staring at the window as if  in deep thoughts.

Iris nods at her as if she also senses that something is bothering her youngest son Aria grabs a drink and walks towards her mate.

"Rus...aren't you going to eat? Auntie prepared the food herself." Aria says with a smile because she wants to comfort her mate.

Cyrus doesn't want his mate nor his mother to worry about him so he forces himself to eat and pretends to enjoy every moment of it.

By the time they were  all done eating and Iris had to leave to get Knight’s things, Felicia  took Kiana back to their own suite so she could also pack their things.

Aria knows Knight and Cyrus needed some alone time so she excuses herself and joins Felicia and Kiana back in their suite.

The moment Aria left the room, Cyrus turned to his brother.

"How long have you known?" he asked, a little unsure of the things he wanted to know.

"The day I got shot. I saw the portrait and got an inkling that you're Zayden but I doubted myself because how could you be my brother when Julius is so proud to have you as his son? Then that bastard...I'm sorry..." Knight corrected himself but Cyrus brushed it off, his eyes still full of pain at the mention of the man who almost ruined his life, his family.

" He isn't my father. He was never a father to me."

"I'm sorry."

"Stop apologizing. It's not your fault I got lost when I was a kid."

Knight got quiet. Of course Cyrus won't remember anything anymore because he was so young when it happened but he knows his brother deserves to know the truth.

"I wish I could say it wasn't my fault but it was my fault. I was the one who put you in that boat. I was also young, just a few years older than you but I should have known that it's dangerous. I didn't know the boat wasn't tied to the deck properly. I just wanted to play that day. I was so happy that I've finally got myself a little brother, my playmate and yet...." Knight couldn't stop himself from crying. He started to feel the pain in his chest again so Cyrus had pressed the button alarming the nurses from the station.

"Stop blaming yourself, we're both clueless back then." Cyrus said while trying to sooth his brother. The two didn't even realize that they're holding each other's hand when the nurses arrived and gave Knight another shot that will put him to sleep so his body can finally recover.

"Thank you Cyrus. I'll stop blaming myself when you finally stop feeling sorry for all the things Julius did. He's not your father so you don't have to carry the burden and guilt of his crime. You are my brother and I won't let the ghost of that old man haunt you and stop you from being finally happy with your family." Knight murmurs his medication starting to take an effect.

"Thank you brother. Thank you." he whispered to him before he fished out his phone from his pocket.

"Dylan."

"Cyrus ."

Healing My Seven Broken Beast Mates Novel Cover
9.4
My retirement was finally approved, and I was supposed to be sipping drinks on a sunny beach. Instead, a cold system voice forced me into a nightmare scenario: "Cursed Mates Who Want Me Dead." I woke up in a stinking cave, trapped in the body of a psychopathic tribal princess. The memories that flooded my brain made me sick. The original owner of this body had forcibly marked seven of the continent's most powerful beast-men and reduced them to tortured pets. She had ripped the shimmering scales off Jordi the Merfolk prince, gouged out a proud wolf-man's power crystal, and snapped an eagle-man's magnificent wings. Now, Jordi was a mutilated, terrified mess hiding in a corner. He was so traumatized that he tried to slit his own throat just to escape me. His sister was actively trying to assassinate me. To make matters worse, the system warned me that if I didn't heal these seven ticking time bombs, my soul would be erased. Yet the future timeline clearly showed that these men would eventually unite, burn my tribe to the ground, and dismember me alive. I was paying for a monster's sins. Every time I tried to show mercy, they thought it was a sick new torture method. Words were useless, and my very presence was a trigger. But I am a Tier-S operative, and I don't play the victim. I forced the system to unlock my powers and strapped on my tactical gear. "Stay here and don't starve." I left the trembling Merfolk behind and walked into the deadly primitive forest, heading straight for the powerful Oasis Tribe to take back his stolen scales by force.

Ninety-Nine Times, Then No More Novel Cover
7.3
This was the ninety-ninth time I caught my husband, Chase Vargas, with another woman in our five-year marriage. I stood in the hotel doorway, numb, tired of the cheap perfume and his cold, familiar eyes. But this time, his mistress, a blonde woman, hissed, "He told me all about you. The pathetic wife he's stuck with because of some business deal. He said he can't stand the sight of you." Her words, meant to hurt, were things I already knew, things Chase had made sure I understood. Still, hearing them from a stranger felt like a new humiliation. She lunged, scratching my face, drawing blood. The sting was a surprising jolt in my numb world. I wrote her a check, a routine part of this pathetic scene. Then my phone rang. It was Chase, calling from across the room. "What are you doing? Are you making a scene? Clean it up and get out. You're embarrassing." He thought I had orchestrated this, that I was the embarrassing one. The betrayal was casual, complete. "I'm tired, Chase," I said, the words finally coming from a place I thought had died. "I want a divorce." He laughed, a cruel sound. "A divorce? Elena, don't be ridiculous. You love me too much to ever leave me." I hung up. He then handed me a signed divorce agreement, telling me his true love, June, my adopted sister, was back. He wanted me to play the dutiful wife for her welcome-home concert. My heart, which I thought had turned to stone, felt a final, crushing blow. He wasn't divorcing me because I wanted it. He was divorcing me for her. I signed the papers. The ninety-ninth time was the last time he would do this to me.
