Chapter 78

Later that evening, Iris and Lucius almost didn’t wanna leave the suite where their youngest is.

But since the Prime Minister also knows that Cyrus and Aria still needed to rest, he managed to convince his mate to leave and go and check on their eldest son too.

After the older couple left, another nurse entered the room with Felicia. The beta nurse informed the mates that they need to take Kiana for some assessment. At first Aria wanted to refuse but Felicia was there so she just reassured him that she won't let Luna get out of her sight.

Cyrus also agreed to Felicia since he really wanted to have alone time with his mate. He might have looked so tough in front of his parents a while ago but he feels like he's about to explode with all the emotions and revelations they've told him.

When the fated mates are finally left alone, the omega suddenly feels the tension that surrounds them. She knows that Cyrus is still overwhelmed with all the information they just received; she was about moving towards the alpha when Cyrus beat her to it.

The pure blood alpha settled beside her on the couch inside their private suite. The two of them are both free from their dextrose and even their wounds are almost healed.

"Hey, are you alright?" Aria asked when Cyrus remained quiet beside her. Cyrus two moves closer to her and without saying a word he just rests his head on her left shoulder.

They were quiet for some time until Cyrus took Aria’s hands into his own.

"I'm sorry for not being able to protect you and our daughter." Cyrus said, his voice full of regret because it is only then when the two finally realized everything that happened to them in the past few days.

They were too busy making sure Kiana was safe and well treated in the hospital so they haven't even talked about the fact that 3 people got killed in order to protect their family.

"Will you forgive me for not being able to keep you and Kiana safe? I would understand if you don’t ----"

Cyrus wasn't able to complete his words when Aria suddenly pushed him aside.

"Cyrus, what the hell are you talking about? I am safe. Kiana is safe. We are safe! You have done everything in your power to protect us. You even saved Knight even before you've learned that he was your brother. Why are you?, ……Cyrus no!" Aria's eyes widened when he saw the pure blood alpha's shoulders shaking.

She cups Cyrus’s face and saw he was sobbing.

"Ria... Rina.. she saved Kiana, she saved our daughter and I haven't even thanked her. I was so mad at her when she confessed to me and she just...she just took the bullet to save our daughter." Cyrus suddenly blurted out.

Aria bites her tongue because she doesn't know what to tell Cyrus at that moment. She couldn't believe she would ever witness the alpha breaking down just like that in front of her.

"If Dylan wasn't there, who knows if Alex's bullet would've hit you too? I'm so sorry Aria...I'm so sorry." Cyrus kept apologizing while crying.

The omega shakes her head off as he lifts his face.

"Look at me Cyrus... look at me and listen." Aria says while trying to hide her own pain regarding her friend's death.

"Rin did what she thought was right. She saved our daughter not for you to be guilty about it but because she believed that our daughter also deserves a chance in life. Cyrus, Rina grew up alone with her mom only and I guess she does not want any one of us to feel the pain and hardships she went through that's why she saved her. So please, don't blame yourself for something that is beyond your control. She loved us, that's why she saved us. The only thing we can do now is to not waste that chance she gave us. Let's not live in guilt and worry anymore Cyrus." Aria says trying her best to explain what he thought Rina would want to tell them.

Aria is so used to Cyrus releasing his relaxing pheromones to calm her down, but in this moment the pure male omega starts to release her own calming scent to comfort her mate. A lot of things happened and she understands why Cyrus is having a mental breakdown.

Aria  realized that it is true that even the strongest people are still vulnerable when it comes to the one they love and care about.

Aria hates Julius for what he did to their family and she also feels sorry for Cyrus for not getting the answers from the old man himself. He knows that it would take some time before her mate accepts everything but for now, she just wants Cyrus to rest and have peace of mind in her arms.

The two didn't even know how they fell asleep on the couch. By the time Felicia entered the suite, she carefully put Kiana inside her crib as she uttered her silent prayer thanking the Moon for finally giving the little family a chance to start all over again and maybe....Kiana would have her own happy ending.

Healing My Seven Broken Beast Mates Novel Cover
9.4
My retirement was finally approved, and I was supposed to be sipping drinks on a sunny beach. Instead, a cold system voice forced me into a nightmare scenario: "Cursed Mates Who Want Me Dead." I woke up in a stinking cave, trapped in the body of a psychopathic tribal princess. The memories that flooded my brain made me sick. The original owner of this body had forcibly marked seven of the continent's most powerful beast-men and reduced them to tortured pets. She had ripped the shimmering scales off Jordi the Merfolk prince, gouged out a proud wolf-man's power crystal, and snapped an eagle-man's magnificent wings. Now, Jordi was a mutilated, terrified mess hiding in a corner. He was so traumatized that he tried to slit his own throat just to escape me. His sister was actively trying to assassinate me. To make matters worse, the system warned me that if I didn't heal these seven ticking time bombs, my soul would be erased. Yet the future timeline clearly showed that these men would eventually unite, burn my tribe to the ground, and dismember me alive. I was paying for a monster's sins. Every time I tried to show mercy, they thought it was a sick new torture method. Words were useless, and my very presence was a trigger. But I am a Tier-S operative, and I don't play the victim. I forced the system to unlock my powers and strapped on my tactical gear. "Stay here and don't starve." I left the trembling Merfolk behind and walked into the deadly primitive forest, heading straight for the powerful Oasis Tribe to take back his stolen scales by force.

Ninety-Nine Times, Then No More Novel Cover
7.3
This was the ninety-ninth time I caught my husband, Chase Vargas, with another woman in our five-year marriage. I stood in the hotel doorway, numb, tired of the cheap perfume and his cold, familiar eyes. But this time, his mistress, a blonde woman, hissed, "He told me all about you. The pathetic wife he's stuck with because of some business deal. He said he can't stand the sight of you." Her words, meant to hurt, were things I already knew, things Chase had made sure I understood. Still, hearing them from a stranger felt like a new humiliation. She lunged, scratching my face, drawing blood. The sting was a surprising jolt in my numb world. I wrote her a check, a routine part of this pathetic scene. Then my phone rang. It was Chase, calling from across the room. "What are you doing? Are you making a scene? Clean it up and get out. You're embarrassing." He thought I had orchestrated this, that I was the embarrassing one. The betrayal was casual, complete. "I'm tired, Chase," I said, the words finally coming from a place I thought had died. "I want a divorce." He laughed, a cruel sound. "A divorce? Elena, don't be ridiculous. You love me too much to ever leave me." I hung up. He then handed me a signed divorce agreement, telling me his true love, June, my adopted sister, was back. He wanted me to play the dutiful wife for her welcome-home concert. My heart, which I thought had turned to stone, felt a final, crushing blow. He wasn't divorcing me because I wanted it. He was divorcing me for her. I signed the papers. The ninety-ninth time was the last time he would do this to me.
