Chapter 77

"No matter where we each stand, together we can look on the same sun, the same moon and the same sky, so we are forever one family. You can't see air, but you need it to breathe and it is always there. Likewise, your family may not be in sight, but we need each other and will always be there."

Lucius and Iris thought that Knight surviving two silver bullets that pierced through his body is worth celebrating with the whole country, but Cyrus standing with his wide eyes right in front of them is something they want to keep to themselves only. The older omega's eyes were brimming with tears when Cyrus slowly lifted his hands to gently wipe away the older woman's tears.

The reunion of mother and son is just so intimate that even the Prime Minister fell into a magical reverie because never in his life has he imagined that Iris’s wolf would immediately heal from the pain of being separated from their youngest son.

Even Aria on the side who's now holding Kiana in her arms is having a goosebumps while watching her mate's wolf nuzzling into Iris’s pure blood omega wolf.

Felicia has been long gone in the room. The older omega knew that Iris needed time with her son so she quietly exited the room when everyone's attention was on Cyrus and his mother.

"Someone once told me that Omegas should never cry because of any alphas. P-please, can you please stop crying ma'am?" Cyrus hesitantly asked the older omega who immediately smiled at his request.

"Well, it depends...my tears are not because of sorrow and pain, young man. They're because of happiness." Iris replied before cupping Cyrus’s face again.

The pure blood alpha knows the situation is super strange but to his surprise, he couldn't feel any hint of awkwardness with the whole thing. He doesn't even mind when Iris starts to ruffle his hair before she softly pinches his cheeks.

It's really odd seeing the wife of the Prime Minister acting that way with another Assemblyman who's father is the same person who tried to kill their son.

"Happiness? Oh... I'm glad...I mean, Knight is safe now. You have nothing to thank me ma'am. He also saved my daughter, I mean he wasn't able to stop them but I know he did his best." Cyrus suddenly thought of the reasons why Iris is staring at him fondly.

Aria who's staring at them and witnessing the exchange between them can't help but to intervene already.

"Cyrus” Taehyung called out while placing their pup's still sleepy head on her shoulder

"Yes Ri?"

" I know I'm not in the place to say this but Cyrus can't you feel it? I mean, the hollow part in your chest. You know when parents and their pup gets separated they'll feel an emptiness like no other and---"

"But Ri... Kiana has been with me baby. Of course I know what you're talking about because I have that hole in my heart too.. the old woman on the island told me that it's probably because I was separated....wait....T-Ria, why was I on the island?" Cyrus suddenly feels like he's suffocating.

Aria was about to put down her pup on the hospital bed to help her mate to calm down because he can see the panic in Cyrus’s eyes.

"Cyrus, hey breathe..." Aria said while her eyes are not leaving the pure blood alpha.

Cyrus’s eyes widened when a rush of old memories slowly flashing in his mind. It's as if he is watching a very old film from a super old black and white television. The images are blurry and they're as if just part of a vague dream but Cyrus’s heart is pounding until he sees Julius in his head again.

The older alpha welcomes him to the mansion, telling him that he is his son.

Cyrus closes his eyes as he tries to retrieve the memory back in the island where there's an older man and woman telling him that he's different from the other children there because he was not born on the island just like the rest of the children. Images of other wolves are flashing until he sees another older omega telling him that they found him clutching into a piece of log floating on the ocean.

The emotions are slowly drowning the pure blood alpha. The memories are too much for him to understand and he feels like he was about to run away to take a breath of fresh air until a calming pheromones starts to infiltrate his nose.

Lucius got worried when he saw the look in his son's eyes so he finally decided to step in.

"You don't have to force yourself to remember Cyrus. Your wolf will eventually show you what you need to see just like how it buries all the memories in your head to protect you. We don't have to rush about anything now, what matters is you are now here with your little family. You are safe, and no one else could hurt you again, son." the Prime Minister said while holding the younger pure blood alpha's shoulders.

Cyrus’s eyes widened upon hearing the older pure blood alpha's words. His eyes also landed on Iris who's now staring fondly at him too.

Her eyes remind him of the full moon, it's so dark yet so bright just like his very own. The younger pure blood alpha isn't dumb. He isn't stupid not to put the pieces of puzzles together now that he thinks about it. And just when he was about to speak, Lucius pulled out a silver necklace from his pocket. It's the same necklace he had when he was just a kid. He remembers that the people in the island told him not to remove the necklace no matter what happened because it will show him the way back to his home but Julius took it away from him when he arrived at the Carter’s mansion.

The younger pure blood alpha starts crying when Lucius showed him the necklace properly.

"This is your brother’s necklace Cyrus. It probably looks familiar to you because your great grandfather made two identical necklaces like this. Welcome back home son." The Prime Minister promised himself that he won't ever cry in public, let alone in front of his sons but the moment he saw Cyrus’s tears.

Iris didn't wait for Cyrus anymore as she grabbed him back to a tight hug again.

"I'm so glad you're back Cyrus, our little Zayden." she whispered as she tightened her arms around her son's torso.

Cyrus is still shocked but deep inside his heart he's beyond happy. He knows there will be lots of things he needs to settle in the future too after everything Julius has done to him and his family but at that moment, the pure blood alpha just wanted to enjoy the warmth of his mother's embrace.

"M-mom." Cyrus whispered back as he buried his nose on the crook of Iris neck. Aria and Lucius smiled at each other before the older pure blood alpha joined his own mate and his youngest son for their first ever reunited family hug.

Healing My Seven Broken Beast Mates Novel Cover
9.4
My retirement was finally approved, and I was supposed to be sipping drinks on a sunny beach. Instead, a cold system voice forced me into a nightmare scenario: "Cursed Mates Who Want Me Dead." I woke up in a stinking cave, trapped in the body of a psychopathic tribal princess. The memories that flooded my brain made me sick. The original owner of this body had forcibly marked seven of the continent's most powerful beast-men and reduced them to tortured pets. She had ripped the shimmering scales off Jordi the Merfolk prince, gouged out a proud wolf-man's power crystal, and snapped an eagle-man's magnificent wings. Now, Jordi was a mutilated, terrified mess hiding in a corner. He was so traumatized that he tried to slit his own throat just to escape me. His sister was actively trying to assassinate me. To make matters worse, the system warned me that if I didn't heal these seven ticking time bombs, my soul would be erased. Yet the future timeline clearly showed that these men would eventually unite, burn my tribe to the ground, and dismember me alive. I was paying for a monster's sins. Every time I tried to show mercy, they thought it was a sick new torture method. Words were useless, and my very presence was a trigger. But I am a Tier-S operative, and I don't play the victim. I forced the system to unlock my powers and strapped on my tactical gear. "Stay here and don't starve." I left the trembling Merfolk behind and walked into the deadly primitive forest, heading straight for the powerful Oasis Tribe to take back his stolen scales by force.

Ninety-Nine Times, Then No More Novel Cover
7.3
This was the ninety-ninth time I caught my husband, Chase Vargas, with another woman in our five-year marriage. I stood in the hotel doorway, numb, tired of the cheap perfume and his cold, familiar eyes. But this time, his mistress, a blonde woman, hissed, "He told me all about you. The pathetic wife he's stuck with because of some business deal. He said he can't stand the sight of you." Her words, meant to hurt, were things I already knew, things Chase had made sure I understood. Still, hearing them from a stranger felt like a new humiliation. She lunged, scratching my face, drawing blood. The sting was a surprising jolt in my numb world. I wrote her a check, a routine part of this pathetic scene. Then my phone rang. It was Chase, calling from across the room. "What are you doing? Are you making a scene? Clean it up and get out. You're embarrassing." He thought I had orchestrated this, that I was the embarrassing one. The betrayal was casual, complete. "I'm tired, Chase," I said, the words finally coming from a place I thought had died. "I want a divorce." He laughed, a cruel sound. "A divorce? Elena, don't be ridiculous. You love me too much to ever leave me." I hung up. He then handed me a signed divorce agreement, telling me his true love, June, my adopted sister, was back. He wanted me to play the dutiful wife for her welcome-home concert. My heart, which I thought had turned to stone, felt a final, crushing blow. He wasn't divorcing me because I wanted it. He was divorcing me for her. I signed the papers. The ninety-ninth time was the last time he would do this to me.
