Chapter 73

Aria  and Cyrus didn't even know how they arrived at the hospital with Kiana in the omega's arms.

The last thing either of them remembered was the Prime Minister assisted them to the ambulance that arrived at the warehouse.

There were police officers too but they're all obviously from a special unit because they did  not use the regular police patrol car.

Cyrus also noticed some agents from NIS and some security personnel who were wearing military uniforms.

The pure blood alpha didn't even ask about his father because all he wanted was to make sure that his mate and their pup was safe beside him.

He knows that Lucius Ashbourne and Dylan already told them that there were no threats anymore at all but then he is still scared to let go of the Omega's hand while he's carrying their pup.

The child is thankfully sleeping when they enter the room and when Aria finally regains consciousness she wouldn't even want anyone touching her baby.

He just witnessed 3 deaths that night and even as a grown man he has limitations too.

He may have trained to be a brave and resilient wolf through the years but that doesn't mean he could just act like nothing happened after the horrible death he witnessed that evening.

Cyrus is being treated because of his wounds but the pure blood alpha's eyes are still focused on his family as if he doesn't even want to blink because just like Aria he doesn't want to lose anyone else.

After he made sure that his cousin was safe, he did not let go of Aria and their pup.

Even when the Prime Minister tried to talk it out with him because Kiana and Aria needed to be treated and cleaned too, the pure blood alpha just growled at them so Lucius just requested a family room where the three could stay so Cyrus could relax a little too.

The Prime Minister had to deal with every mess that Julius created so after making sure that his eldest son's surgery was successful and his youngest son is now being treated well, he finally allowed himself to breathe.

The Prime Minister also asked Dylan’s assistance because there are loose ends they need to tie permanently so that they would finally live in peace.

Lucius doesn't want to tarnish Cyrus’s reputation once the news about his family comes out in the media.

The Prime Minister knows that Cyrus is his son m but the nation still believes that Cyrus is a Carter so he needs to protect him at all cost. He knows that letting the media know what really happened that evening would create a huge damage on Cyrus’s career as a politician so the Prime Minister has decided to settle things in silence.

If they need to create a fake scenario regarding Julius' death, he'll do it as long as Cyrus won't suffer more.

The Prime Minister and Dylan were about to leave the hospital to deal with the legal matters without informing the media when Dylan’s phone suddenly rings.

The alpha wasn't supposed to answer the call since he's also so stressed out and still shocked of everything that happened that evening but then he's curious who could have called his

 private number so he answered.

"Mr Ross" a familiar female's voice called on the other side of the phone.

"Oh Fuck! Thank the moon you're alive! Where the hell are you Felicia?!" Dylan asked with his wide eyes open.

He already ordered his men to search for the old omega woman since they discovered that her body wasn’t in the warehouse.

He really thought the woman was killed but her voice sends relief to the younger alpha.

The Prime Minister stopped in his tracks when he heard Dylan talking on the phone.

"Mr Ross, the man...please don't kill him. He was a new guy and he let me live. He's willing to be a witness against Alex and...wait... please tell me Kiana is---"

"Okay, listen to me first." Dylan cuts her off because he saw the Prime Minister already waiting for him inside the car.

"Kiana, Rus and Aria are all safe now, they're in a private hospital. Now about the guy with you, make sure you both go to the nearest police station where you are and I'll ask one of my men to fetch you there. You don't have to worry about Alex anymore, she's dead. She won't be able to hurt anyone of you anymore." Dylan explained to the older woman who was now crying in relief the moment she learned that the little family she loves dearly is safe.

Dylan ended the call after reassuring the old woman that she has nothing to be worried about anymore.

She also asked about Knight too and that reminded Dylan that after all the huge spectacle he has witnessed within the 24 hours, Cyrus has yet to face another challenge. His cousin would have to face the Ashbourne family too and this time, Dylan is genuinely happy for this challenge because he knows that Cyrus would finally be reunited with his real family.

That evening the winter wind blew as the Prime Minister and Dylan went to the white House.

They both know the scandal that will blow up if they won't be able to come up with a good cover up.

Dylan knows that politics is a battlefield and he's just so thankful that the Prime Minister is on their side right now because if not, then he's so sure that the other Assemblymen who are eyeing the highest position would feast on Cyrus.

The moment they arrived in the White House, Dylan was astounded to see that the President himself was already waiting for them in his office.

It's not his first time meeting with the president since he's been accompanying Cyrus in his important events but this is his first time to be inside his office let alone sit right in front of the most powerful man in the country.

"Lucius, you should've sent Mr. Luke instead of coming here. I've heard everything already but what I don't understand is why do you have to come and waste your time trying to cover up Julius’s filth when this is your chance to make sure his blood won't even come near your seat."

the President didn't even try to sugarcoat his words.

He didn't even greet them though the alpha noticed that the President stole a glance in his direction when he thought he wasn't looking.

"Mr. President I'm sorry for bothering you at this hour but--"

"Lucius! since when did we call each other with formalities?" the president cuts the Prime Minister's words.

"Right, Raphael I am not covering up the crimes Julius has committed but I have to ask you to buy more time for this to subside without blowing it up to the media and the others." Lucius said with a firm voice.

"And why would we do that?"

"I'm doing it for my son."

"I thought Knight is in the hospital because of Julius? Why would you cover that up when---"

"I'm doing it for my youngest son Raphael. I've found him, I was so dumb not to recognize those eyes when I practically saw the kid for years" Lucius finally blurted out. It's the first time he finally openly talked about his youngest son with someone else and he's so happy that it's with his best friend, no other than the president himself.

The President's eyes widened and immediately turned to Dylan. The alpha feels like he's a specimen under a microscope and it only dawns on him that the president misunderstood.

"S-sir..Mr.President, I'm not his son." Dylan uttered, his voice lace with awkwardness that made Lucius laughs a little.

The president gave his friend a questioning look and when he finally realized and put all the puzzles together, he turned back to his seat again.

"Cyrus Carter is your son?!" He asked, a little more confident this time.

Lucius nods with a small smile though Dylan can feel the pride blooming in the Prime Minister's smile.

"I knew it! A rotten tree would never bear a sweet fruit. That man is too good to be Julius' son! But why and how on Earth do you discover it just now when the Assemblyman Carter has been around for years?!" The president asked again.

"Remember when I told you that I wanted to keep my distance from Carter?" Lucius replied.

"Oh yes, because you still believe that he is responsible for the  Von Dorn- Thomson’s tragic ending." the president said nonchalantly but Dylan noticed how his face suddenly turned a little sadder.

"Right, the Von Dorn- Thomson, also the family of your sister. I don't understand Raphael, you are the most powerful man in the nation but why wouldn't you open their case? Wouldn't you want to give your family the justice they deserve?" Lucius said, disappointment written all over his face.

"I suppose it's time for you to know it too, since you have always been the one wanting justice for my sister and her husband." the president said as he pulled an envelope from his drawer and put it in front of the Prime Minister.

Dylan feels like he's watching a movie while listening to the two. He knows exactly what the two are talking about and yet his genius mind feels like he's about to explode when he realizes something. He's about to ask and verify something when the president speaks again.

"I never stopped seeking for the truth. How could I sleep at night thinking that my sister, her husband and her only pup was roasted alive in that building? I did investigate their case.

It took me years until I found a lead. But it's been years and I actually thought it would be futile to follow the lead because it might just give me another heart break but just like you, I didn't stop that one day I would avenge them." He paused for a while before he continued talking, but this time he slowly pulled out the photographs and papers from the manila envelope.

Dylan is sitting right across the president so the moment the president put down the familiar pictures of two people on the table, his eyes widened as he cursed under his breath because in the photographs are none other than his friend Harris Williams and Aria, Cyrus’s mate.

"I thought I would only find the culprit, Lucius , but the moon has once again proven to me that the family  are the chosen ones because my niece...my sister's daughter is alive.

My nephew Harris has found her!" Raphael said with a genuine soft smile while it's Lucius turn to be shocked because the man in the photograph he is holding is no other than his youngest son's mate.

"What the Fuck!" Dylan  blurted out when he finally completed the puzzle together.

Healing My Seven Broken Beast Mates Novel Cover
9.4
My retirement was finally approved, and I was supposed to be sipping drinks on a sunny beach. Instead, a cold system voice forced me into a nightmare scenario: "Cursed Mates Who Want Me Dead." I woke up in a stinking cave, trapped in the body of a psychopathic tribal princess. The memories that flooded my brain made me sick. The original owner of this body had forcibly marked seven of the continent's most powerful beast-men and reduced them to tortured pets. She had ripped the shimmering scales off Jordi the Merfolk prince, gouged out a proud wolf-man's power crystal, and snapped an eagle-man's magnificent wings. Now, Jordi was a mutilated, terrified mess hiding in a corner. He was so traumatized that he tried to slit his own throat just to escape me. His sister was actively trying to assassinate me. To make matters worse, the system warned me that if I didn't heal these seven ticking time bombs, my soul would be erased. Yet the future timeline clearly showed that these men would eventually unite, burn my tribe to the ground, and dismember me alive. I was paying for a monster's sins. Every time I tried to show mercy, they thought it was a sick new torture method. Words were useless, and my very presence was a trigger. But I am a Tier-S operative, and I don't play the victim. I forced the system to unlock my powers and strapped on my tactical gear. "Stay here and don't starve." I left the trembling Merfolk behind and walked into the deadly primitive forest, heading straight for the powerful Oasis Tribe to take back his stolen scales by force.

Ninety-Nine Times, Then No More Novel Cover
7.3
This was the ninety-ninth time I caught my husband, Chase Vargas, with another woman in our five-year marriage. I stood in the hotel doorway, numb, tired of the cheap perfume and his cold, familiar eyes. But this time, his mistress, a blonde woman, hissed, "He told me all about you. The pathetic wife he's stuck with because of some business deal. He said he can't stand the sight of you." Her words, meant to hurt, were things I already knew, things Chase had made sure I understood. Still, hearing them from a stranger felt like a new humiliation. She lunged, scratching my face, drawing blood. The sting was a surprising jolt in my numb world. I wrote her a check, a routine part of this pathetic scene. Then my phone rang. It was Chase, calling from across the room. "What are you doing? Are you making a scene? Clean it up and get out. You're embarrassing." He thought I had orchestrated this, that I was the embarrassing one. The betrayal was casual, complete. "I'm tired, Chase," I said, the words finally coming from a place I thought had died. "I want a divorce." He laughed, a cruel sound. "A divorce? Elena, don't be ridiculous. You love me too much to ever leave me." I hung up. He then handed me a signed divorce agreement, telling me his true love, June, my adopted sister, was back. He wanted me to play the dutiful wife for her welcome-home concert. My heart, which I thought had turned to stone, felt a final, crushing blow. He wasn't divorcing me because I wanted it. He was divorcing me for her. I signed the papers. The ninety-ninth time was the last time he would do this to me.
