Chapter 64

Lucius Ashbourne came from a poor family. His father was a farmer and his mother is a teacher at a public school.

He was the only son of his two alpha parents which is why they did everything so that they could to give him the education he needed to make his life better.

His parents were hardworking and morally upright people.

They raised him with good manners and right values because they strongly believe in the law of karma.

Lucius Ashbourne could still remember what his father taught him when he was once bullied in school.

"Son, always remember that when someone takes your pencil again, give them your eraser too." His father said while patting his hair.

"So that they have something to use to erase their mistakes son. You see, people tend to take something for two reasons. The first one is because they badly needed that something so they have no choice but to take it from you... or if it's because they know you'll do greater things if you have that something that's why they're taking it from you. The world is full of greedy people, Lucius. The weak are being eaten by the strong ones. The poor are being abused by the rich, but not everyone is like that. There are people who still believe that the Moon is watching. So we always have to do what we want others to do for us. We always have to choose kindness over anything in this world."

"Just like the Von-don Thomsons?" He asked when he remembers the kind Prime Minister who has a soft spot for the weak and poor. At his very young age, he admired the old Prime Minister because he knows he has a good heart just like his father too.

His father laughs at the eagerness in his son's voice. He knows how Lucius loves the Prime Minister because the boy never missed the news every morning just to watch the old man. He is even surprised that his 8 years old boy prefers to watch the Prime Minister's speech over his favorite cartoons.

"Yes son, just like them." His father had replied before pulling up the blanket over his son's body.

He was supposed to leave and let his son sleep when the little boy suddenly grabbed his hand.

"Dad, I promise I will do very well in school and I will become like the prime minister. I will become the Prime Minister of The country." He said with determination in his eyes.

His father just laughed at his words because he knows that it is impossible for his son to achieve that goal. Little did he know that Luna was watching and listening to the little boy knowing that his fate had changed that very moment.

he'll grow up holding on to his father's golden heart, then he will receive a reward that is more precious than the gold!

******************************************** PRESENT

Lucius is still staring at the portrait in front of him. He heard Cyrus’s words clearly. He understands that the boy in the portrait is no other than the son of the man who tried to kill his only remaining son. But his heart is pounding, his wolf is howling because he would never forget those soft doe eyes and smile.

"Zayden." he mumbles to himself but this time he reminds himself that it's impossible because there's no way it's real.

He knows the world knows Cyrus is Julius’s son.

"Uncle, are you okay?" Aria joins the old man when the omega senses his distress scent.

The Prime Minister blinks. There's only one way he could check if Cyrus is his long lost son. He looks at Aria to reassure the omega that he's fine before he turns to Cyrus.

"Do you mind if we run a test with your blood?" he asked hoping that the younger pure blood would agree.

At first Cyrus frowns because that's very odd, but then he remembers that he will donate  blood to Knight so he assumes the old man just wanted to make sure that his only heir will be safe so he nods in the end.

"No problem sir. They could do all the tests they need to do." Cyrus replied before taking his mate's hand as they led them out of his penthouse.

Lucius nods as he follows the younger wolves.

In that moment he didn’t  know what to ask the Moon for anymore because of course he would be happy to know his son is alive, he just doesn't know what he would do to Julius if ever it turns out that the young pure blood is indeed his long lost son.

The group including Dylan and a few of their bodyguards went to the private hospital where Knight is.

They knew they couldn't take him to the hospital because that would create a big scandal so the Prime Minister chose to take his son in silence.

He also wanted to make sure his son was safe until they found and arrested the culprit.

Cyrus was immediately assisted going to the small test lab of the exclusive hospital while Aria  and Lucius waited outside the ICU where Knight was kept.

The Omega was fidgeting with her finger when she finally voiced out what has been bothering her.

"Uncle Lucius, can I ask something?" She asked.

"What is it child?" the Prime Minister asked while fishing out his phone.

"Why did you call Cyrus by Zayden? Isn't that Knight’s younger brother’s name?" Aria asked with hesitation.

The Prime Minister sighs.

He looks at Dylan who's staring at him too because he knows that the alpha heard him also.

Dylan knows about the Prime Minister's long lost son, actually he saw the news when he was younger.

He knows that the Knight’s younger brother died but they have never found a body of the poor little boy so Dylan was also shocked when the Prime Minister called Cyrus by that name a while ago.

"Aria, Knight’s brother didn't die. He got lost. I think he has found his way back home tonight." the Prime Minister replied with a sparkle of tears in his eyes.

"But how did you know he didn't die uncle?" Aria asked with equally teary eyes.

Lucius smiled fondly at the young omega.

"Aria, my youngest son is a pure blood. If he died, his mother would die too. They won't be able to bear the pain of being apart at that young age. My wife's wolf would've gone berserk if she had failed to sense our son's soul. Her wolf knows that our Child is still alive and that keeps her breathing despite the constant pain in her heart." the Prime Minister explained.

Aria’s eyes widened. She remembers her own wolf whenever she wanted to end it all in the past, it was as if her inner wolf was telling her to hold on to her life. She felt a deep pain in her heart but her wolf kept her alive because it knows that her daughter is alive.

The omega was about to say something when her phone suddenly rang.

The Prime Minister, Dylan and the other security nearby gave him a questioning look so he checked on his phone. His heart feels like it suddenly stopped beating the moment he saw the caller ID.

Healing My Seven Broken Beast Mates Novel Cover
9.4
My retirement was finally approved, and I was supposed to be sipping drinks on a sunny beach. Instead, a cold system voice forced me into a nightmare scenario: "Cursed Mates Who Want Me Dead." I woke up in a stinking cave, trapped in the body of a psychopathic tribal princess. The memories that flooded my brain made me sick. The original owner of this body had forcibly marked seven of the continent's most powerful beast-men and reduced them to tortured pets. She had ripped the shimmering scales off Jordi the Merfolk prince, gouged out a proud wolf-man's power crystal, and snapped an eagle-man's magnificent wings. Now, Jordi was a mutilated, terrified mess hiding in a corner. He was so traumatized that he tried to slit his own throat just to escape me. His sister was actively trying to assassinate me. To make matters worse, the system warned me that if I didn't heal these seven ticking time bombs, my soul would be erased. Yet the future timeline clearly showed that these men would eventually unite, burn my tribe to the ground, and dismember me alive. I was paying for a monster's sins. Every time I tried to show mercy, they thought it was a sick new torture method. Words were useless, and my very presence was a trigger. But I am a Tier-S operative, and I don't play the victim. I forced the system to unlock my powers and strapped on my tactical gear. "Stay here and don't starve." I left the trembling Merfolk behind and walked into the deadly primitive forest, heading straight for the powerful Oasis Tribe to take back his stolen scales by force.

Ninety-Nine Times, Then No More Novel Cover
7.3
This was the ninety-ninth time I caught my husband, Chase Vargas, with another woman in our five-year marriage. I stood in the hotel doorway, numb, tired of the cheap perfume and his cold, familiar eyes. But this time, his mistress, a blonde woman, hissed, "He told me all about you. The pathetic wife he's stuck with because of some business deal. He said he can't stand the sight of you." Her words, meant to hurt, were things I already knew, things Chase had made sure I understood. Still, hearing them from a stranger felt like a new humiliation. She lunged, scratching my face, drawing blood. The sting was a surprising jolt in my numb world. I wrote her a check, a routine part of this pathetic scene. Then my phone rang. It was Chase, calling from across the room. "What are you doing? Are you making a scene? Clean it up and get out. You're embarrassing." He thought I had orchestrated this, that I was the embarrassing one. The betrayal was casual, complete. "I'm tired, Chase," I said, the words finally coming from a place I thought had died. "I want a divorce." He laughed, a cruel sound. "A divorce? Elena, don't be ridiculous. You love me too much to ever leave me." I hung up. He then handed me a signed divorce agreement, telling me his true love, June, my adopted sister, was back. He wanted me to play the dutiful wife for her welcome-home concert. My heart, which I thought had turned to stone, felt a final, crushing blow. He wasn't divorcing me because I wanted it. He was divorcing me for her. I signed the papers. The ninety-ninth time was the last time he would do this to me.
