Alpha's Betrayal, Luna's Vengeance

After my eldest brother passed away, my mate took in his mate and daughter, claiming it was his duty as the pack’s Alpha. He swore he loved only me and our daughter, Indigo, and that he didn’t care for Estelle and her child, Amelia. To make up for it, he gave them a portion of the pack’s resources. When rogues attacked the territory, he sold off the pack’s valuables and took Estelle and Amelia to the neighboring pack’s lands. I begged him to take Indigo with them, but he refused, saying, "The journey is too harsh. I couldn’t bear to see you and Indigo suffer." The moment he left, Indigo was captured by the rogues and strung up on the pack’s border as a warning. I knelt at the base of those walls, my head bleeding from pleading with them, but I couldn’t save her. I pleaded with the pack’s warriors, waited for Evan to return, but when he finally did, he didn’t even listen to my cries. Instead, he handed me a rejection letter, his voice cold and dismissive. "The neighboring pack is full of gossip, and people are already talking about Estelle and Amelia.

Chapter 2

According to my memories from my past life, the city would erupt into chaos in just two hours. To avoid the tragedy that befell us before, I had to get Indigo out of the city as quickly as possible. I hurriedly packed our valuables and led Indigo out of the city gates. If I remembered correctly, most regions were already overrun by rogues, but Lizon was the safest haven left.

We headed west, and along the way, we crossed paths with Evan. He was stopped by the roadside, gently offering water to Amelia. His tenderness made my eyes sting with unshed tears. In the past, he had always claimed that his child needed strict discipline, often scolding Indigo with a cold demeanor. I should have realized sooner that his so-called strictness was just a cover for his indifference toward us.

I tried to steer clear of him, but Evan suddenly called out to me. “Aurora, I’ve come to my senses. The city isn’t safe. Let me take you and Indigo to Lizon together.” His tone was sincere, as if he genuinely cared about our safety.

Indigo, who had never received such gentleness from him, immediately rushed over with joy. “Daddy, you’re the best! I knew you wouldn’t leave me and Mommy behind!”

He smiled, lifting Indigo into the car, then turned to the passengers inside with a sharp tone. “Get out. Indigo’s fragile. The car is for her and her mother.” He motioned to me. “Aurora, you and Indigo take the car. It’s faster.”

Though I hesitated, I knew Indigo couldn’t walk far, and the car was the quickest way to reach Lizon. But when Estelle stepped out with Amelia, there was a glint of triumph in her eyes. She leaned in and whispered to me, “You and your daughter can enjoy this ‘blessing.’ Let’s see if you’ll even make it there.”

Her words sent a chill down my spine. I turned to Evan, but his smile had vanished. He barked at the driver, “Head north. As far away from us as possible.”

Indigo poked her head out, her voice trembling. “Daddy, aren’t you coming with us?”

He shook his head, his expression calm. “No, you and your mother go ahead. I’ll catch up later.”

A sense of dread washed over me, but before I could react, a rogue lunged at the car, killing the driver right before my eyes. They had seen the luxurious vehicle and targeted us. Despair clawed at my chest as I realized Evan’s kindness was nothing but a trap to sacrifice us as a distraction.

The horrors of my past life flashed before my eyes. The rogue raised his claw, demanding I hand over Indigo. I clutched her tightly, refusing to let go even as they dragged us out of the car, kicking and stomping on us. The physical pain intertwined with the agony in my heart, and I coughed up blood, my body breaking under the assault.

I looked toward Evan’s retreating figure, my voice hoarse as I pleaded, “Evan, for the sake of our five years as mates, please save Indigo!”

Indigo sobbed, her voice small and terrified. “Daddy… I’m scared! Please, Daddy!”

But he didn’t look back.

Pain seared through my body like liquid fire, each heartbeat sending fresh waves of agony through my veins. I tried to sit up, but my limbs felt leaden, refusing to obey my commands. The silver poisoning had spread faster than I'd expected, my immune system weakened by months of neglect and emotional abuse. "Hudson," I whispered, hoping my mate would hear me through our bond. The silence that answered was deafening. I forced myself to stand, gripping the bedpost for support as the room spun around me. My skin burned to the touch, fever spiking through my body as the silver toxins worked their way through my system. I needed Marcus, the pack healer, before the poison reached my heart. He then cut open my stomach, severed the umbilical cord, and crushed the fully formed pup. “If you hadn’t been so useless back then, Monroe wouldn’t have died for me,” he said coldly. He crushed my throat, and his Lycan fire consumed the pup’s remains.

For five hundred years, I poured everything I had into each of them, giving them pieces of myself. Yet, it was all for nothing when Alina Woods shed a single tear. Finally, the Entity declared my failure: ["Host, if you die at the hands of any one of these males, I can send you back to your original world."] At those words, I, who had been waiting for death, suddenly opened my eyes. I loved Alpha Remy Rice for five years, and during our engagement party, he promised that even if I couldn’t bear a pup, he would always love me. That was until the day of his niece’s christening. At the event, my mate’s face appeared on the big screen. In the photo, he was holding his widowed sister-in-law, Paulina, a Delta in the Silver Moon Pack, with a disturbingly affectionate look in his eyes. Paulina started crying and apologized, her voice trembling with practiced innocence. Alpha Remy casually explained, “It’s tough for Paulina to raise Jessie alone. I just wanted to make her pup’s christening complete. Phoebe, don’t be unreasonable.” Everyone in the pack was watching, expecting to see the Omega mate of their Alpha humiliated. But I calmly took off the mate bond bracelet—a symbol of our union—and slid it onto Paulina’s wrist. My hand instinctively smoothed over my slightly rounded belly as I said, “I’m not being unreasonable; I wish you both eternal happiness.” The room erupted in whispers, and curious gazes burned into me.
