Alpha's Betrayal, Luna's Vengeance Chapter 1
After my eldest brother passed away, my mate took in his mate and daughter, claiming it was his duty as the pack’s Alpha.
He swore he loved only me and our daughter, Indigo, and that he didn’t care for Estelle and her child, Amelia. To make up for it, he gave them a portion of the pack’s resources.
When rogues attacked the territory, he sold off the pack’s valuables and took Estelle and Amelia to the neighboring pack’s lands.
I begged him to take Indigo with them, but he refused, saying,
"The journey is too harsh. I couldn’t bear to see you and Indigo suffer."
The moment he left, Indigo was captured by the rogues and strung up on the pack’s border as a warning.
I knelt at the base of those walls, my head bleeding from pleading with them, but I couldn’t save her.
I pleaded with the pack’s warriors, waited for Evan to return, but when he finally did, he didn’t even listen to my cries.
Instead, he handed me a rejection letter, his voice cold and dismissive.
"The neighboring pack is full of gossip, and people are already talking about Estelle and Amelia. Don’t worry. Once the rumors die down, I’ll come back for you."
He left me in the territory, where I died a miserable death at the hands of the rogues.
When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day he took Estelle to the neighboring pack.
==============================
“Aurora, the journey is too harsh. I don’t want you and Indigo to suffer. You should stay in the territory.”
His words brought back every memory of my past life.
I looked at Evan, my mate, his tone filled with false concern as he pushed Indigo out of the car without hesitation.
In my past life, I had believed his act, thinking he truly cared for us. I stayed in the territory with Indigo, waiting for him to return.
But when he did, all he cared about was Estelle and Amelia, and I finally saw the truth.
His heart had already shifted to them.
This time, I wouldn’t let Indigo die in front of me again.
Indigo, thrown out of the car, began to cry, her small voice trembling.
I shielded her behind me, forcing myself to sound calm as I replied,
“Alright, Indigo and I will stay.”
He smiled, pleased with my obedience.
“I knew you’d understand, Aurora. The journey is too hard for Indigo—”
I cut him off before he could finish.
“But you’ve taken all the pack’s resources. If you leave us here with nothing, we won’t survive. You need to leave half of it for us.”
Estelle and Amelia, hearing this, immediately leaned out of the car, their faces twisted in false distress.
“Aurora,” Estelle began, her voice trembling, “the house in the neighboring pack needs repairs. If you take half, Amelia and I will freeze to death!”
Amelia, her voice sharp and haughty, chimed in,
“Daddy said those resources are for me! If you take them, he’ll punish you!”
I couldn’t help but laugh coldly at their theatrics.
Ever since Evan took them in, he claimed he had to treat them equally, though he couldn’t give them his heart. Instead, he showered them with the pack’s wealth.
Amelia dressed like a princess, while Indigo wore patched-up clothes that had seen years of use.
I didn’t hold back.
“Most of those resources are from my mate gift! If we’re being fair, you should leave all of it behind!"
Estelle, seeing she was losing the argument, turned to Evan with tears in her eyes.
“It’s alright, Evan. Give the resources to Aurora. Amelia and I can manage. We’ll endure the hardships in the neighboring pack…”
Evan’s face darkened, his gaze turning icy as he glared at me.
“Aurora, Estelle is your sister-in-law. Is this how you treat your elder?!”
"I thought you were reasonable, that you’d understand. But you’re just as petty as the others in the pack!"
His words, paired with that look of disgust, tore at my heart.
It was Estelle and Amelia who had taken what was mine, yet he made me the villain.
I held back my tears, my voice steady as I insisted,
"None of that matters. You need to leave half for Indigo and me."
He glared at me, his anger palpable, before roughly throwing half of the resources onto the ground.
A silver locket hit Indigo’s head, but he didn’t even glance at her.
"Take it!"
With that, the car sped off.
Indigo, who had fallen to the ground, scrambled to her feet and chased after the car, tears streaming down her face.
"Daddy! Why won’t you take me and Mommy with you? We want to go to the neighboring pack too!"
I ran to her, pulling her into my arms, my heart aching as I watched the car disappear into the distance.
"Indigo," I whispered, my voice thick with emotion, "from now on… he’s not your daddy anymore."
