After My Mate Sold Me for His Mistress’s Lies

The Black Moon Pack's grand hall buzzed with excitement as I stood beside my mother-in-law, Luna Elouise, watching the spectacle unfold. Tonight was supposed to be a simple welcome ceremony for the pack's new head healer—a formality, nothing more. But the moment Haley Andrews stepped through the massive oak doors, everything changed. She glided in wearing a flowing white dress that seemed to catch every ray of light, her golden hair cascading over her shoulders like a halo. The pack members parted before her like the Red Sea, their faces lighting up with genuine welcome. I felt nothing but a cold knot in my stomach. Atticus, my Alpha mate and husband of three years, rose from his seat at the high table without a second glance in my direction. 'Haley,' he breathed, his voice thick with emotion. I watched, my face a careful mask of Luna dignity, as he crossed the room in long strides and took her hands in his. 'You've finally come home.' Home.

Chapter 3

I knew something was brewing when Haley started avoiding direct eye contact with me. For days, she'd been unusually quiet, her usual smug confidence replaced by a nervous energy that made my wolf, Silver, restless. I caught her whispering with pack members in hushed tones, their eyes darting toward me before quickly looking away. Whatever she was planning, it was big—and it was coming soon.

The announcement came during the weekly pack meeting. Atticus had just finished discussing border patrols when Haley stood up, her hand protectively cradling her still-flat stomach. The room fell silent as she took a deep breath.

'I have news,' she said, her voice trembling with what I instantly recognized as rehearsed emotion. 'I'm carrying Atticus's pup.'

The words hit the room like a thunderclap. Gasps echoed through the hall as pack members turned to stare at me, waiting for my reaction. I felt dozens of eyes on me, some pitying, others curious, all of them hungry for drama.

I kept my face carefully blank, even as Silver snarled inside me. 'Impossible,' she growled. 'She's not mated to him. The chances of—'

'I know,' I told her through our bond. 'It's a lie.'

Atticus, however, was completely taken in. He rushed to Haley's side, his face transformed by a joy I'd never seen directed at me in our three years together. 'This is... this is incredible,' he breathed, placing his hand over hers on her stomach. 'My pup.'

I watched the scene unfold with a detached fascination, as if I were observing characters in a particularly badly written play. The biological impossibility of an unmated pregnancy—especially with an Alpha who already had a Luna—was something any wolf with basic knowledge would question. But Atticus was too blinded by his obsession to see the obvious flaws in Haley's story.

The next day, Haley moved into the Luna quarters—my quarters—with Atticus's blessing. She walked past me in the hallway, her eyes gleaming with triumph. 'I hope you don't mind,' she said sweetly. 'The baby needs the best environment, and the Luna suite has the best light.'

I stepped aside, my fingers tapping two quick taps against my wrist. 'Of course,' I replied, my voice cool. 'Congratulations on your... miracle.'

That evening, as I sat in my study reviewing my ledger of payments, Elouise knocked on my door. She entered without waiting for a response, her usual composed demeanor tight with barely contained fury.

'This has gone too far,' she said, closing the door behind her. 'I've watched you handle this with remarkable grace, Raelyn, but I won't stand by while that girl destroys everything we've built.'

I raised an eyebrow. 'What do you have in mind?'

Elouise's lips curved into a smile that reminded me of a wolf baring its teeth. 'I've booked the Presidential Suite at the Moonlight Hotel for your mate bond anniversary next week. The most luxurious, most public venue possible.'

'And why would you do that?' I asked, though I already suspected her plan.

'Because,' she said, her eyes glinting with cunning, 'I'm going to announce to the entire pack that it's meant to mend the bond between the Alpha and Luna. And I'm going to make sure everyone knows exactly where you'll be.'

I leaned back in my chair, a slow smile spreading across my face. 'Including Haley?'

'Especially Haley,' Elouise confirmed. 'The trap is set, my dear. All you need to do is spring it.'

As she left, I opened my ledger again, adding a new entry. The stage was set for my final act as Luna of the Black Moon Pack, and I intended to make it a performance no one would forget.

The scent hit me first—expensive, floral, and overwhelmingly feminine. It didn't belong in Collin's room. I paused mid-motion, the stack of freshly folded t-shirts frozen in my hands as I tried to place it. Bianca's scent. My heart stuttered in my chest, but I forced myself to continue tidying his Alpha suite, ignoring the hollow ache spreading through my chest. It was just a scent, I told myself. Nothing concrete. Nothing that could shatter the fragile hope I'd nursed for years. Then I saw it. Tucked between his dark dress shirts was a silk scarf in deep crimson—Bianca's favorite color.

The bite hurt more than I expected. I stood at the center of the Silverclaw Pack House's grand hall, surrounded by hundreds of wolves dressed in their finest, and all I could feel was the burning pain spreading from my neck. Alpha Roman Wallace's teeth had just broken my skin, marking me as his chosen mate in front of everyone. But there was no spark. No electric current running through my veins. No intoxicating scent wrapping around me like the stories always promised. Just pain. "Congratulations, Luna," someone said, their voice distant and hollow. I forced a smile, my hand instinctively moving to cover the fresh wound on my neck. The mark felt wrong, like my body was rejecting it even as it bled.

The morning sun filtered through the windows of Silvermoon Pack's administration building as I walked hand-in-hand with Nyla toward the school office. At six years old, my daughter practically bounced with each step, her dark curls catching the light as she chattered about which classroom she hoped to be assigned to. "Mommy, do you think I'll have the same teacher as Tommy Martinez?" she asked, swinging our joined hands. "He said Mrs. Peterson gives out gold stars for good reading." "We'll see, sweetheart," I replied, smoothing down her navy blue dress—the one Vincent had bought her last month, back when things still felt normal between us. "Remember to use your inside voice when we get to the office." The familiar scent of pine cleaner and fresh paper greeted us as we entered the administration area. Mrs. Henderson, the school secretary, looked up from her computer with a practiced smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Luna Willow, what a pleasure to see you," she said, though something in her tone felt different—more formal than usual. "And little Nyla, my goodness, you've grown since I last saw you." Nyla beamed and gave a small wave.

I smoothed my fingers over the ceremonial attire laid out on our bed, a matching set of deep blue tunics embroidered with silver thread that caught the morning light filtering through our window. The fabric was soft yet sturdy, perfect for the Inter-Pack Moon Run tonight. My heart swelled with anticipation as I imagined Marcus and me, side by side, our wolves racing beneath the full moon in a sacred bond-affirming ritual. "It's going to be perfect," I whispered, my fingers instinctively finding the small moonstone pendant hanging from my neck. The cool stone centered me as I stroked its smooth surface, a habit I'd developed whenever emotions threatened to overwhelm me. *He's going to love this,* I thought, admiring how the silver embroidery mimicked the pattern of moonlight through forest branches. *We're going to be magnificent tonight, Victoria,* Selene, my silver wolf, whispered through our mental connection. Her excitement vibrated through my consciousness. *This run is sacred. The Moon Goddess blesses those who honor their bonds beneath her light.* "I know," I replied softly, allowing myself a private smile.
The Alpha Betrayed His Moon-Blessed Mate Novel Cover

My mother, Adley Simmons, was once revered as a blessed healer by the Moon Goddess, the Luna of the Rivera Pack, and the cherished mate of Alpha Derrick Rivera. My uncle, Beta Zen Cruz, had sworn to protect her as his own sister. Yet, when she was captured by rogue werewolves during a pack gathering, neither of them lifted a finger to save her. Instead, they stood by, watching as she was brought to the auction block, her healing abilities twisted into a grotesque spectacle. I sent frantic mind links to my father and uncle, pleading for them to intervene, but they blocked my messages without a second thought. Instead, they escorted Zaria Morales, the rogue they had taken in, to the center of the gathering, treating her like a queen. “You mentioned your scent was weakening,” my father said to Zaria, his voice dripping with false affection. “I found the perfect remedy for you—this healer’s essence. They say she’s blessed by the Moon Goddess herself. We’ll extract her power and make it yours.” Zaria’s eyes gleamed with malice.
