After My Gamma Rejected Me The Alpha Claimed Me
Chapter 2
Right now, I’m staring at the woman standing beside Zamir, and she’s striking. A soft pink designer dress skims her frame, loose strands of hair falling over her forehead giving her an air of playful grace. Even so, a sharp anger simmers in her features over the destroyed engagement gifts, and she carries it with all the poise of a high-born Beta’s daughter.
This is the woman he’s marking with?
“What kind of feral rogue dares to cause a scene in the Nelson household?” She lifts her hand, ready to order the Delta guards to throw me out.
Zamir moves quickly, stepping between us to block her. “This is my distant cousin. She hasn’t spent much time around pack high society, Miss Nelson, please forgive her rudeness.”
His words are a nail driven straight into my chest. I loved him for years, I used my hidden Lycan royal connections to pull him up from a low-ranking Omega all the way to the rank of Gamma in the Silverpine Pack. Now that he’s gotten what he wanted, he’s going to cast me aside like this. The world doesn’t work that way.
“Zamir, you promised me the day you earned your Gamma rank, you’d formalize our mate bond. What is this, then? Are you going back on your word?”
Amaris Nelson’s face drops into a cold scowl, ice sharp in her eyes. “Zamir, you told my father you had no existing mate connections, that you were completely unbonded. I only agreed to this political pairing because of that. Are you trying to embarrass the Nelson family?”
Zamir, who’d been throwing me pleading, silent glances just a second ago, immediately schools his face into blank detachment. “I, Zamir Anderson, Gamma of the Silverpine Pack, reject you, Katalina Rice, as my mate,” he says, the words smooth and cold, the proper rejection format rolling off his tongue like he’d practiced it a hundred times. “I never formally asked for a bond with her. I only took her in when she was a wandering orphan rogue, out of simple kindness. If Amaris is willing to tolerate her presence, she can stay as my unofficial chosen mistress. If not, she can work as an Omega servant in the household.”
I’m a Lycan Princess, and in his mouth I’m nothing more than a mistress or a servant. No one has ever dared to humiliate me like this, not in all my life. He really is that good at being cruel.
Amaris’s smirk is sharp as she lets her gaze drift between the two of us. “The Nelsons have always had pure, unbroken lines. We’ve never kept mistresses in our family. So she can only be the servant.”
Zamir nods, without even glancing at me to see how I’m taking it. I’m just a joke for them to laugh at, here in the Nelson living room.
The royal guards I brought with me are already bristling, their Alpha auras rolling off them in sharp waves. If I’d so much as twitched my chin, every person in this room would be on their knees before me. But I shake my head minutely. Zamir was dead to me the second I saw the engagement announcement on his social media. All this is just letting him dig his own grave deeper. Once he sees how far he’s gone, he won’t dare to come crawling back even if he ever figures out who I really am.
When the snickers around the room have died down, I lift my eyes to Zamir, my gaze steady. “You’re certain you want to mark Amaris Nelson, and throw away everything we had?”
He furrows his brow, yanks the embroidered handkerchief I made for him out of his pocket, and throws it straight in my face. “Get her out of here. Now.”
