Chapter 6

Daisy's pov Khai had his gaze pinned at me, it was obvious he was waiting for a response from me. I didn't know what to expect, carrying a child with the blood of a werewolf. Everything was still sounding so absurd to me, but I wanted revenge, you wanted my company back and now I was certain that it could only happen with the help of a man like Khai. "What do you call Daisy Benneth?" "You are asking like I have a choice when clearly I don't. Fine I accept, I am going to stay here until the child is born but there is no way I am leaving my child's life even after the child is born" "You would have to leave Daisy after the baby is born" he spoke and seeing the sore expression on my face, there was a pause before he sat close to me. "I know this might be hard for you, but I am sorry Daisy, there are things about this world, my world that you don't want to get involved, it is too brutal, no human can survive it" "I am carrying a werewolf child and still doing okay, I think I can take it" "We don't know that yet" he sighs, frustration evident in his tone. "Khai. I am not asking to continue living here, all that I am pleading is that you give me the chance to be able to see my child from time to time, is that too much to ask?" I was staring directly into his eyes in the most tender way that I can knowing that with this look, there was no way he would be able to refuse. "Fine! We will talk about that tomorrow, but die now, you do know there is poison in your body right?" I lowered my head as I clenched my fist. If someone had told me earlier that he would do something like this to me, I would never have believed it. But all this while, the man I gave my everything to had been killing me and I had not a single clue about it. "I know, I will visit the hospital tomorrow and see if there is anything that can be done" "I don't think that a human hospital can help you with this" "What are you saying, that I am going to die?" Fear immediately took hold of me, the thought that I might end up dying like this and Finn would take everything sent shivers down my spine, I just couldn't bring myself to think about it. "Calm down Daisy, you are not dying yet. The poison was meant to kill you slowly, you still have some time" "Does that mean I will die when the poison finally takes effect ?" "Not if you find a Solution before then" he muttered and now his words were making me even more confused. "So let me get this straight, you don't think that a hospital can save me but you also think that I might be able to find a solution?" "With such poison, the humans don't have knowledge about it" "And how do you know what kind of poison it is, are you a Doctor?" "No, but I am a werewolf and can smell it in you. I know someone that can help you, but get some rest first, I wouldn't want anything to happen to the baby, we will talk tomorrow" He parted my shoulder, his gaze remained cold as he walked out. After he left, I let out a soft breath and fell on the bed. Just when I thought that I was finally going to get some sleep, a knock came through the door. "Come on!" I ushered even without knowing who it was, I didn't even care since this wasn't even my home. As the door swung open, a young girl dressed in a uniform walked in carrying a large tray containing scrabbled eggs, oats, bread and some fruits. "Good day ma" she greeted but kept peaking glances at me like I was a thief she had to make sure of. "The Alpha wants you to eat and get some rest" "Alright, thank you. You can place them there" I ordered yet she remained standing at the same position, it was clear to me now she had something to say but was trying to decide if she should go ahead and say it or not. "What is your name?" I forced a smile on my face even though I was so exhausted and heartbroken "It's Lisa ma" "Lisa, you have something to say to me?" "What?" She looked shocked as she raised her head, almost afraid. "It's fine Lisa, whatever it is, just go ahead and tell me" Her lips trembled, it was clear that she badly wanted to say it but was scared for her life. After seeing the assuring smile that I had on my face, that seemed to have given her the courage to speak. "Ma. There is a rumor going on in the pack that you are pregnant for the Alpha, is it true?" "Pack, what is that, I thought such terms were used for animals" I spoke, she opened her mouth to speak but looked confused at me. "You really are human" she looked almost shocked, taking a few steps back. "Calm down, I don't bite" "Yeah, you can't" she rolled her eyes at me as if knowing that I was human had given her some sort of courage. "You truly are pregnant for the Alpha?" "I don't know what to say, you will have to speak to your Alpha to confirm such news. If he says I am pregnant, then I am but if he says otherwise, then I guess" I spoke in a sarcastic manner which left her even more confused, she didn't dare speak again. She nodded her head and finally stepped out of there. Her behavior right now was kind of weird but I brushed it off immediately and began eating. But just as I brought out my phone and began scrolling, the next news I saw shocked me.

He was leaving her for his college sweetheart. Thanks to a ruthless prenup, Kiley was being thrown out with absolutely nothing. That very night, their young son Jules was rushed to the ER, bleeding profusely. The doctor's diagnosis was a death sentence: acute leukemia. When Kiley frantically called Aden for help, he dismissed the emergency as a simple nosebleed. "I'm not paying for this. Deal with it," Aden sneered, the sound of his mistress giggling in the background. Even Kiley's adoptive parents sided with the wealthy Aden, calling her a burden and telling her to stop fighting him. Driven to the brink of despair, with a dying child and no money, Kiley didn't understand how a father could be so monstrous to his own flesh and blood. Until a news article on a friend's phone caught her eye. It featured a fallen 9/11 firefighter hero from the ultra-wealthy Whitfield family. The man in the photo looked exactly like Jules, down to the very bone structure. Kiley's mind raced back to the fertility clinic and the anonymous sperm donor. Could this dead billionaire hero be her son's biological father? Looking at her sleeping, fragile boy, Kiley wiped her tears and crushed the divorce papers in her hand. She was going to find the Whitfield family, save her son, and make Aden lose everything he held dear.

Truth slammed me: Gia poisoned me for years, causing infertility, making her bastard son the sole heir. Hidden, I watched her force Dante, the Underboss, to kneel, drink hallucinogenic tea, and profess devotion. She smirked. This was calculated murder: my existence, my legacy. On our fourth wedding anniversary, I prepared a perfect home-cooked dinner for my husband, Carlisle. But the moment he walked in, he threw a marital settlement agreement right onto the table. "Sign it. Celine is back. There's no place for you here anymore." His mother and sister immediately marched in to supervise my packing, calling me a barren gold-digger and trying to smash my late mother's only keepsake. I signed the papers and walked out into the freezing night, thinking the nightmare was finally over. But the next day, a heavily edited video of a childhood friend helping me into his car went viral online. Carlisle's PR team released a public statement branding me a cheating wife, completely destroying my reputation. He let the world tear me apart, using my ruined name to play the victim and justify bringing his first love home. Watching the vile comments flood my screen, my heartbreak hardened into pure, unbreakable ice. I calmly picked up my phone and dialed my father's number. "Dad, it's time. I want to come home and take over Mcneil Industries."
