Abandoned by Her Fiancé Novel Cover

Abandoned by Her Fiancé

On the day Saul claimed he was busy and canceled our date yet again, I returned home only to discover his marriage certificate with his assistant, Jane Bradley. The registration date was today. I chuckled, placed the certificate on the desk, and broke up with him without hesitation. Moments later, he called, sounding irritated, “Maddie, what’s with the theatrics? Can you grow up?” I was about to respond when I heard Jane's tearful voice in the background, "Saul, did Maddie misunderstand us? You should come home. I can handle this myself." “Just ignore her,” Saul reassured Jane. “She’s always been like this—such a pain. Right now, you're what's important.” With those words echoing in my mind, I hung up, my heart finally settling on a quiet determination. --- As I was packing to leave, Saul arrived with Jane, fussing over her.

Chapter 3

Back at the old, rundown cottage my parents left behind, I leaned against the wall beneath their faded portraits and finally allowed myself to cry. Once the tears had flowed, I tidied up a bit before heading out to buy some essentials. After that, I settled in.

Lying on the bed from my childhood, my anxious heart suddenly found peace. I had the best sleep I’d had in ages, without worrying about Saul Moore’s moods or whether he was eating well or dressing warmly.

In my dreams, I saw my long-gone parents. I barely had a moment to talk with them before the dream twisted. Saul appeared, questioning my harshness towards Jane Bradley, tugging at my sleeve, urging me to apologize to her.

A surge of anger rose within me, and just as I was about to retort, the abrupt ring of the phone jolted me awake. Dazed, I answered, only to hear Saul’s voice, full of frustration: “Maddie, where have you been? Did you forget about the company’s signing event today? Everyone’s showing up with a partner, but mine is nowhere in sight. Are you trying to embarrass me?”

Fully alert now, I held back my irritation and distanced the phone slightly. “If that’s what you think, then sure.”

“Maddie!”

Saul’s voice rose noticeably before I heard the sound of footsteps through the receiver. He must have moved to a quieter spot to continue our conversation.

He sighed, his tone softening. “Maddie, today’s important for the company. Please don’t do this. Come over, the signing ceremony is about to start. Once the event is over, I’ll explain everything, okay?”

His voice carried a hint of pleading, and for a moment, my grip on the phone relaxed. Before I could reply, laughter and teasing remarks reached my ears: “Wow, Jane, you look like a bride today!”

“Absolutely, when you look closely, Jane and our little Saul really complement each other.”

Jane spoke with a shy tone, “Don’t say that, I just threw something together.”

When I hadn’t responded for a while, Saul called out to me again.

I chuckled dryly. “Saul, seems like your partner is already in place. Don’t contact me again.”

Not waiting for his response, I quickly hung up the call. I knew that if I didn’t, the growing sadness might become overwhelming.

In a desperate attempt to get rid of the child I'd carried for eight months, the supposed rightful heir dragged me down the stairs. When I woke up, I was met with the doctor's sympathetic gaze. "I'm sorry, Miss O'Brien, but the baby didn't make it." His words barely sank in as I stumbled out of the hospital room, feeling lost and broken. Near the operating room doors, I overheard a chilling exchange between Eithan and his assistant, Luis. "Mr. Gonzalez, that baby could have survived. Why did you take its blood to save Lara?" Luis asked. "That little brat was never meant to be," Eithan replied coldly. "Ha, Amiyah can't even name the father of that brat. How can such a disgraceful woman continue to live?" "She might as well be dead and spare the Gonzalez family the embarrassment." I stood frozen, the cold reality settling into my bones.

It all began when I accidentally spilled my drink on the dress Leon cherished, worn by Isla Snyder—a Victorian-style gown. His reaction was to dump hot oil on my face. Watching me suffer, he gently shielded Isla's eyes, murmuring, “Don’t look, love; it’s not for you to see.” His voice turned icy as he threatened, “This is what you get for upsetting Isla. Next time, it’ll be far worse.” Despite the blistering pain, I nodded stoically. ... Arriving at the hospital entrance, I overheard Leon chatting with some friends about me. “Leon, why bother giving her a ride? She can walk home on her own,” one suggested. Leon sneered, “I wouldn't bother if my dad wasn’t making me do it.” “Your dad’s got nerve, making you marry such a mess,” another added. Leon’s expression darkened.

I stood at the altar of the Bellevue Estate in Beverly Hills, surrounded by cascading white orchids and blush-pink roses that cost more than some people's monthly rent. The late afternoon sunlight streamed through the arched windows, casting a golden glow across the marble floor. This should have been the happiest day of my life—the rehearsal for my dream wedding to Ryan Mitchell, heir to the Mitchell real estate empire. Instead, my chest felt tight, constricted by something far heavier than the delicate silk of my ivory dress. Ryan stood across from me, six feet of tailored perfection in his charcoal suit, his expression blank and distant. His hazel eyes kept drifting past my shoulder, focusing on something—or someone—behind me. I didn't need to turn around to know who commanded his attention. Victoria. My sister. "Isabella, could you please move slightly to your right?" The wedding planner's voice cut through my thoughts.
