Chapter 6

Erica:

I felt my world crumble in front of me, I couldn't tell my father I didn't want to go there, I couldn't make excuses. Alpha's don't make excuses. My pack needs me now, I can't tell my father that I cannot help because of Dante.

My father  knows about my past with Dante but he calls it a past and tells me that I have a better future ahead. I know I have a better future ahead but I do not want to see him.

Dante caused me so much harm.

"We will go there." Lorenzo said to my father who had his eyes locked at me, I was in a state of shock. Lorenzo had no idea who the father of my children was. The day he asked, I told him that I never want to talk about him and  he never asked about my past again.

"Yes." I nodded firmly, we will go there. We are doing this for our packs and not for anyone else.

Pack affairs should be treated first.

"We will leave tomorrow." Lorenzo added.

"Lorenzo, you should look after your pack, send your Beta instead.  As an Alpha you need to be there for your pack." Dad advised and Lorenzo nodded, he had always kept my father in high regard.

"Come Erica, I need to talk to you." I followed my father as he walked through the chambers, while Lorenzo stayed back to help around.

"Dad." My voice was low and I felt the need to cry, I pulled my father into a hug when he closed the door.

"Dear, I know how hard it is for you." His voice was cracked and it was as though he felt my pain with me.

"I know you don't want to see him, Erica, he is your past and I respected your decision all this while but dear when I saw my people cry and slowly die because of this attack, I had no other choice. I am your father and I will never want you to go back there, but you need to restore our pack. It's in your hands now. The seer said the next generation shall save us. You are my next generation. I should send the beta but he will be too busy helping around to go and he has no clue. I cannot go either, I have to be here for my people." As my father narrated his pain, I straightened myself up.

"I know you want to say no but given  the situation you cannot." I nodded, my father knew me so well. He has been my strength since I found out  that day that I am his daughter.

"I will go there." I looked at the bruise on his arm, he was bleeding but he didn't know.

My father's pack used to be the strongest werewolf pack until we started getting attacked by rouges, losing our members, warriors and our title to the rouge.

I do not know what Rouge King Hazan wants from us.

"Alpha.." Beta Ian barged into the room.

"Alpha, we got news, a message." He held a white scroll on his right hand and he looked tense.

Ian ruffled his thick black hair and gave a sigh. He was too young for all of what he was going through.

"It's not good news, Sire."

"Go on, Ian."

"We've had news that you have our gem! Naturally I hate you so much Alpha King Roland and now you have something that's ours, hand it over or else, I'll tear your pack apart.  I hate you but I will give you the chance to come back to your feet before our next attack, if I do not get the "Living Gem" I'll come back for your pack in the next one month, on the night of the full moon." Ian read out, his hands were trembling a little, he's faced too much today.

"That bastard, we do not have the gem. Send him a message telling him that we do not have the gem and call me the seer." Dad replied sharply and angrily, he noticed how Ian looked tense so  he calmed down.

All of this was just too new to him and he had not so many people to guide him.

"My strong boy, you're brave like your father and with you we will conquer." He tapped Ian on his shoulder.

It has not been easy since the demise of our beta, he had died a few weeks ago fighting in the war with Rouge King Hazan and now his son Ian has taken over as beta even when he is too young to do so but he is doing a good job.

Ian left my father's chamber and soon the seer arrived.

As he pushed open the door and walked in he smiled at me, showing his very white teeth, he looked a bit dirty, and he dressed like he was from the 90's, long old dirty pants and black boot. He  strolled in.

"Our pack is in your hands." He laughed. I was confused, what was he talking about.

"What do you mean seer?"

"There's no Gem, Alpha. If we had the Gem we would have won this battle for a long time but we can find it."

"Where can we find it?" My father was desperate to know the same way I was.

The seer walked up to me and stretched out his hand for me to touch. I put my hand on his palm and my eyes rolled in my head, I screamed.

Blood stains everywhere, blood spilled on the ground, my pack members were crying out for help, they got nothing. I watched Hazan stab my father right in the chest and in my arms, I watched my father slowly die.

Lorenzo was gone too, my mother's bowels were out on the ground and the cold rain beat every single dead body on the ground. It felt like I was the cause.

He took his hand away from me and I gasped.

"What was that? How can we stop it?" I asked swallowing hard.

"Our pack needs you."

"How should we go about it, seer?" Dad furiously asked, he didn't even see what I saw.

"I do not know. I have nothing else to say, my king. If you may please, excuse me."  The seer had nothing else to say, it seemed he got his messages in pieces today.

It is funny how we got entangled in a war with the rouges when we do not have what they want.

As the seer left my father turned to me.

"Erica, you are leaving tomorrow, you will go with the triplets, you will help Dante get what he wants. Lorenzo will visit at intervals too so you don't need to be afraid."

I nodded.

I never thought that I would go back to the Blue Hades pack, I had left there and planned to never come back but Dante is the strongest Lycan King and has the strongest Lycan pack. If he fights he will surely win.

We need him and I hope he needs our pack as much as we need him.

He doesn't know what I have become after I left his pack, to him I had died.

"I will get ready." With that I walked out of my father's chamber and headed to my room.

I pushed the door of my room open and my babies were fast asleep on my bed. Their nanny was beside them.

"Ma'am, they cried so much, Elma seems to have a fever."

On my daughter's fifth birthday, Yareli posted a photo on Instagram with the caption: "Before bed, my little one was crying for her dad, and the wonderful dad immediately dropped his work to be there." In the photo, the man next to her was none other than my husband—Sean Harrison. I glanced at the message received ten minutes ago: "There's something going on at the office tonight. You and Braelynn don't need to wait for me." I liked the post, then called my divorce attorney. --- Sean came home at two in the morning. The harsh light made me shield my daughter's eyes immediately. Sean leaned against the doorframe: "Miriam, I'm back. Let's wake Braelynn, and I'll celebrate her birthday with her." In the past, I cherished these family rituals deeply. Whether it was a birthday, Thanksgiving, anniversary, or a preschool event, I insisted Sean be involved. I didn't want Braelynn to go through what I did—only seeing her dad through videos on WhatsApp. But now— I straightened the blanket and replied in a flat tone: "No need." A flicker of frustration crossed Sean's face: "Miriam, I only went over to help Miguel sleep.

I spent two years navigating the stratified air of Spencer Kensington’s world, thinking I was the woman he loved. I even ate instant ramen for months to afford a vintage camera lens for our anniversary. When I got a mysterious text about "Operation Blue Moon," I thought it was our private signal for a proposal. Instead, I walked into a limestone fortress to find the Kensington and Van Der Woodsen Engagement Party in full swing. Spencer wasn't there for a romantic dinner; he was standing under a crystal chandelier, announcing his "business merger" with a blonde heiress. When I confronted him in a service hallway, he didn't apologize. He offered to buy me a brownstone and keep me as his "side project" while his mother, Victoria, watched from the balcony like a queen. "Vanessa is just furniture," he said, his voice full of a terrifying sincerity. "But you're the one I love. I can give you a life of ease." When I refused to be his dirty little secret, the retaliation was instant and brutal. By the next morning, I was fired from my reporting job, my father’s nursing home funding was pulled, and I returned home to find my apartment condemned by the city. My entire life was piled in wet boxes on a rain-soaked sidewalk. I couldn't understand how one family could have the power to erase a person’s existence in a single night. How could the man who kissed me yesterday watch his mother leave me homeless and penniless today? Standing in the rain next to my ruined belongings, a black SUV pulled up and Mayor Julian Sterling stepped out. He didn't offer me pity; he offered me a deal. "The Kensingtons are panicked," he said, his eyes cold and calculating. "And panicked people make mistakes. You have a reason to watch them burn. I want to see what you know." I took his hand, knowing he was just as dangerous as the people I was fighting, but I was done being the victim. This wasn't just a breakup anymore; it was a war.
