Walked Into My Wife’s Wedding
Chapter 3
When the door was pushed open, a muscular man walked in. It was Claire's brother, Sky. It was clear he had come after me.
Sky kicked me so hard in the stomach that I curled up.
"So you are the one who came to mess up my brother-in-law's wedding?"
The crowd cheered. Sky grabbed my hair and threatened, "A mere employee dares to hit someone. Are you out of your mind?"
I looked over to Claire.
She quietly fiddled with her glass. It was as if whatever was happening to me didn't matter to her at all.
"Claire, do you remember the promise you made back then?"
She flinched and avoided my gaze.
"You promised me you only saw Evan as a brother.
"If you two were to have an affair, severe consequences would follow!
"You told me you would grow and build a future with me. Is this how you kept your promise?"
Claire Luna replied coldly, "Jake, I had already given you a chance.
"If you had listened to me just now, everyone would be happy."
The crowd's hostile remarks gradually faded.
Evan, looking tense, stood up and shouted, "Jake, it's only because your mom has been helping Claire at the office for years that I even allow you to stay in the company.
"It's one thing if you mess up occasionally, but how could you spread rumors at such an important event today!
"This could ruin Claire's reputation!"
While speaking, he rushed forward and grabbed my hand.
I shoved him back, and he knocked over a table in return.
Shards of glass fell onto the baby in Susan Lanette's arms, followed by a scream.
"My baby!"
Evan wailed as he scrambled back to his feet.
"Jake! Why would you want to hurt our baby?!"
Before I could even speak, Claire kicked me in the stomach.
"Jake! Be a man! Fight me if you dare!"
I was about to expose Evan's staged act when brute force pulled me back.
Sky suddenly appeared at my side. He gripped my wrists with his strong arm, and a bottle of wine came crashing down on my head!
Blood streamed down my forehead as he slammed me to the ground.
My vision blurred.
Sky held me so tightly, as if ready to end me at any moment.
"You scum! How dare you lay a hand on a baby!"
Claire stood by on the side, focused solely on checking on the baby and Evan.
"Jake, this can't be resolved with just a mere apology. I want you to…"
"What do you want me to do?!" I shouted, pushing Sky away with all my strength.
My bloodshot eyes made me look like a madman.
"Claire, if you aren't afraid of the consequences, fine.
"But who do you think you are? How dare you threaten me!
"If it weren't for me, do you think you could become the president of the company?!"
Claire frowned upon hearing that.
"What nonsense are you talking about? Do you expect me to thank you for getting to where I am?"
