Trashing Her Luck Charm Made Her Explode
Chapter 4
When I woke up, I was hooked up to machines and even a ventilator.
The doctor came in with his brows furrowed. "Ms. Nichols, this doesn't add up. Your earlier tests showed no genetic issues. Why did three or four conditions suddenly appear out of nowhere?"
My whole body trembled, tears streaming down my face.
As expected, Regina did this to me!
In my past life, I transferred from one hospital to another, but instead of getting better, I only grew worse. I even got involved in multiple accidents and ended up dying.
"Where's my husband? Doctor, please call Jack Burns."
The doctor's expression was stormy as he handed me the phone. "Talk to him yourself."
On the other end of the call, music and clinking glasses blended together, loud and distant in my ears.
Jack sounded increasingly impatient. "Didn't I say Reggie's celebrating her success? Why do you keep calling? Stop being annoying. Ariel is perfectly fine by herself. Don't call again!"
He then ended the call coldly.
The doctor gave me a long look before turning to leave.
I was left alone in the ward.
In that instant, tears spilled uncontrollably down my face. My emotions surged like a dam about to break, impossible to hold back any longer.
"Why me? Is this all my life will ever be?"
…
Late at night, Regina pushed the door open, stinking of alcohol.
She stood there, dazzling in jewels, holding a celebratory cake personally made by Jack. Her smile was sharp as it landed on me.
"Ariel, why do you always end up back in the hospital? I told you to follow me to the gamble, but you refused to listen. Look at you. Do you regret it now?"
Fury erupted within me. I didn't even feel like talking to her.
Having been given a second chance at life, I refuse to die so vaguely and unjustly.
When she wasn't paying attention, I quickly pressed a knife to her neck and threatened coldly, "Regina Wade, I know this is all your doing. You're going to get me killed! Tell me right now how to undo whatever you've done to my luck!"
