Chapter 3

I wanted to throw up.

Leaving this place was the only thing on my mind.

However, there was some sort of restriction placed on me that forced me to watch this live porn scene.

Their moans pierced my eardrums. They had ended up in bed somehow and were in a passionate embrace right in front of my wedding photo with Lori.

I tried hard to cover my ears.

It lasted for an hour before they were finally done.

I watched them coldly as they finished each other off in bed.

Lori then got out of bed to go to the bathroom.

After she was done showering, she wanted to change into some clean pajamas, but when she opened the cupboard, she could not even find a clean piece of clothing.

I used to be the one doing all the housework. I did the laundry and cooked our meals.

Lori did not need to worry about anything as I took care of her like a princess.

Now that I had been dead for almost a week, our clean house was an absolute mess.

Lori picked up the clothes scattered all over the floor unhappily and flung them all into the washing machine.

She wanted to wash them, but soon realized she had no idea how to operate the washing machine.

The kettle was empty, and there was no hot water in it.

When she opened the fridge, there was a whiff of rotting vegetables coming from it.

Lori frowned when she saw the mess in front of her.

She took out her phone to call me, but realized that she had smashed it and had not bought a new one.

Lori sneered. "Do you think I won't be able to leave you just because you did all of this for me, Chad? What a joke!"

She had no choice. She was hungry, so she decided to order delivery.

Lori bought herself a new phone the next day.

The moment she logged into her phone, she received many unread messages.

A few of them were from my friend.

My friend asked her, "Have you any idea where Chad is? It's been a week since I asked him out for a meal. We agreed to meet, but he didn't show up."

Lori frowned. She did not reply, but checked my social media accounts instead.

I loved sharing about my life, but it had been a week since I shared anything on social media.

Lori's brows furrowed deeper. She thought about this and decided to send me another message.

"Aren't we getting a divorce, Chad Lowry? Let's file for the divorce in the next few days."

The other 'me' replied very quickly, "Hoho. You really can't wait to be with Bryce Fallon, can you? I’ll agree to the divorce, but you have to compensate me for years of emotional trauma…"

"We've been married for years, yet you refuse to let me touch you. Now, you cheated on me with Bryce. I think I deserve at least three million in compensation..."

Lori read the message from 'me' on the other side of the phone. Her chest heaved with anger.

"I was so wrong about you, Chad Lowry!" Lori replied viciously. She immediately transferred five hundred thousand to 'me'.

"That's all I have. Take it or leave it! We'll get our divorce three days from now!"

Lori blocked my number after that.

She was so mad that she cursed me after blocking my number. "You should just drop dead, Chad Lowry!"

Just as Lori wished, I was really dead.

If Lori had just paid a little more attention to me, she would have realized I was dead, but she did not care if I was dead or alive. All she cared about was Bryce.

Lori was always busy with work. She took three months off to take care of Bryce.

Three months later, Lori returned to work.

She was attending a monthly meeting at the hospital when her superior mentioned the accident on the bridge last month.

According to him, there was one casualty and 17 seriously wounded.

The nurse who approached Lori with my identification card the last time was seated next to Lori. She tugged Lori's sleeve. "Dr. Levaine, do you know who was the only casualty in that accident?"

She shook her head.

"It was actually…"
