Chapter 1

In my previous life, I was taken away by a poor family. My younger sister, Elsa, was adopted by a wealthy family instead.

Unexpectedly, Elsa only got to live there for less than five years before getting cast out. She ended up dying on the streets.

Meanwhile, I got into the best school thanks to my outstanding grades. Then, I furthered my studies overseas with my adoptive older brother, Flynn Cullen. With my own hands, I built my own business empire brick by brick.

Years later, Flynn and I received our parents' blessings and got married. Soon, we had children of our own.

I had a happy and smooth-sailing life.

Now, I'm reborn. This time, Elsa makes an entirely different choice.

She runs into Flynn's arms and greets him in a sweet tone. After taking the adoptive parents' hands, she shoots a smug glance in my direction.

"Enya, you should have a taste of the suffering that comes with that wealthy family. I can't bear to spend a moment longer in that cruel place!"

I looked at Flynn, hoping that he'd say something. Instead, I saw him shielding Elsa from me protectively.

He just looked at me icily. "Don't get close to my sister!"

In the end, I walked toward the limo while Elsa watched me victoriously from behind.

Elsa's words gave me a chilling realization. She had been reborn too.

I looked at the confident, almost triumphant look in her eyes, and something finally clicked.

"Get in the car, Ms. Enya."

The Taylor family hadn't sent anyone else, only a driver.

It had been the same in my previous life. When Richard Brooks, the director of the orphanage, told us to choose for ourselves, Elsa made her decision before I could.

Everything had happened so suddenly.

She had raised her chin and looked down at me with disdain. "I'm not going to live in poverty. Enya, you can bear that hardship for me."

She eventually got what she wanted and joined a wealthy family, yet the smile on her face faded a little more with each passing day.

Now, I was the one who stepped into the luxurious Lincoln limousine. As he drove, the driver briefed me on the rules I was expected to follow once we arrived at the Taylor residence.

"Do you remember everything?" he asked, meeting my gaze through the rearview mirror.

"I do."

The car soon arrived at our destination. I followed the driver into a mansion as grand as a palace.

"Mrs. Taylor, the child is here."

A beautiful woman sat on the couch, sipping tea. She looked up and examined me before motioning me closer. "Come here. What's your name?"

"Enya," I replied.

The orphanage director gave me the name Enya, entrusting it with the hope that my life would be steady and serene.

The woman nodded. "Very well. From now on, your name will be Enya Taylor."

She turned to the butler. "David, take her upstairs."

"Yes, Mrs. Taylor."

I followed behind the butler, David Wiley.

The stair railings were made of precious sandalwood, and the floors were laid with expensive marble. Luxury filled every corner of the house.

But none of it stirred much curiosity in me. In my previous life, I had earned all of it through my own efforts.

David glanced back at me, and a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes.

He opened a door, revealing an enormous princess-style bedroom. "Ms. Taylor, this will be your room from now on. Please rest for a while. I'll come back later."

With that, he left.

I stepped in and looked around. The room was exquisite, and it seemed the Taylor family had held nothing back for their adopted daughter.

Every detail reflected refinement and indulgence reserved for the upper class.

A powerful surge of excitement rose from deep within me.

Without a powerful family to lean on in my past life, I had relied on my own effort and built everything with my own two hands.

This time, with the Taylor family behind me, I would create a path that belonged solely to me.
