They Will Regret Taking What's Mine
Chapter 3
"What the hell are you talking about?!" Sean sobered up as he grabbed me by the collar and pushed me up against the wall. The [Emperor] label on his forehead lit up violently from his anger. "You're just a [Loafer]! What do you know about playing cards? You're just jealous that I'm doing better than you!"
Sean looked savage as his saliva sprayed onto my face. "I'm warning you, Cole Fuller! Say nonsense like that to mess with my mind again, and I'll f*cking kill you!"
Mona came running to me as well. She punched me in the chest as her eyes reddened. "How can you be so malicious, Cole? How can you curse him right after he won money?!" Her shrill voice was filled with disappointment and anger. "You disgust me! You're just a petty, little man who can't stand others being better than you!"
The guests around us started to criticize me as well.
"Who's that guy? Is he a jinx?"
"Don't be mad, Mr. Chetman. There's no need to argue with a [Loafer]."
"Get him out of here right now! He's bad luck!"
Sean pushed me out of the private room as everyone else behind me continued partying while staring at me with disdain. I stood at the end of the corridor and stared at the city's night view from the window, feeling nothing inside me.
The second curse to [The Last Emperor] was becoming headstrong and refusing to accept advice, which caused one to end up close to backstabbers and push loyal and wise people away.
Every difficult truth would sound like a vile curse to Sean, while every honey-dripping lie would be music to his ears. He was walking on a path covered with fresh, beautiful flowers, but he would end up falling off the cliff at the end of the path.
The next day, he received 30 million in his account.
Sean used the money to register an investment company right away, and he named it 'Imperial Capital'. He rented the most expensive office in the city center and bought himself a brand-new Rolls-Royce.
Mona resigned from her cleaning job, which paid 3000 per month, and became the 'CEO's wife'. They moved into a bungalow at the top of the hill, while I was given a room in the servants' quarters next to the garage.
It took only one week for Sean's life to hit great heights. Many heard about his [Emperor] fate, and they came looking for him with money and potential projects, begging him to invest in their businesses. Before his company had even officially launched, his net worth had been estimated to be 500 million.
Sean went crazy after that. He held lavish parties in his villa with guests from every echelon of the upper social circle and a bevy of beauties.
Mona was all smiles, dressed in an expensive gown as she went from guest to guest like the hostess of the party. As for me, I continued being the driver dressed in a cheap uniform.
One night, Sean held another lavish party. This time, Mona's parents, my former in-laws, attended the party as well. They used to treat me well, praising me for planting my feet on the ground and being honest with my ways. They used to say that I was worth trusting Mona with.
However, they looked extremely upset when they saw the [Emperor] label on Sean's forehead, and the [Loafer] label on mine.
"You've finally made the right choice!" My former mother-in-law held Mona's hand as she looked agitatedly at Sean. "This is a match made in heaven! An [Emperor]! Oh my gosh. We have a noble in our family!"
My father-in-law walked up to me stoically, looking upset at what I had become. "How did you end up this way, Cole? How can a man be a [Loafer] and still be thick-skinned enough to stay here? If it wasn't for Mona's sake, Mr. Chetman would have kicked you out of here long ago!"
I lowered my head and said nothing.
Sean held Mona in his arms and came over to us, looking gleeful. He said to Mona's parents, "Mom, Dad, you don't need to worry about Mona. I'll take good care of her and give her a good life." He pointed at me and said nonchalantly, "As for Cole, he had been with Mona before, after all. I've gotten him a job as a driver, and I like to think I've already done my best for him."
Mona's parents looked grateful.
"You have a kind heart, Mr. Chetman!"
"Mona is so lucky to be with you!"
While Mona's parents were busy criticizing me, she leaned into Sean's arms and seemed to enjoy my humiliation. She loved how it felt to kick me to the ground, as it proved that she had made the right choice.
The party came to a climax when Sean got dead drunk and stood next to the swimming pool to announce some big news to all the guests. "Everyone! I've decided to buy over John Wagner's Baton Corporation!"
His announcement caused a commotion at the party.
John, the [Tycoon], owned Baton Corporation, one of the leading businesses in the city with a net worth of billions.
Everyone thought Sean had gone crazy.
"Mr. Chetman, isn't this going a little too far?"
"Yeah. Baton Corporation is a huge company…"
Sean waved his hand with great authority and the air of an emperor. "What's there to be afraid of?!" He roared. "I'm the [Emperor]! Fate is on my side! A mere [Tycoon] is nothing but a rock under my foot. I'll get him to submit himself to me in three days!"
Someone shouted from the crowd, "Long live Sean Chetman!"
This was followed by tremendous cheering that echoed in the air.
Sean's regal-like confidence got everyone excited, and it truly felt like the rise of an emperor. Mona was so touched by what was happening that tears streamed down her face. She hugged Sean's arm, and she looked at him with stars in her eyes.
I was the only one who saw the young man with the label [Grand Master] on his forehead, standing in the corner with a cold smirk on his face.
