Chapter 87

Christopher's POV

Everything seemed so unreal. I looked around and saw a lot of strange faces around me. Alot of the faces seemed vaguely familiar but I couldn't be sure.

'Where am I?' I asked. or maybe the question that was more important was, 'Who am I?'

A female, came and hugged me, asking me if I was okay. I looked at her and though there was something about her, something I just couldn't place, though, I didn't know her.

There was a healer that looked vaguely familiar. She stood from the floor, asking to be left to stay with me till I was fully recovered.

All they were saying was sounding very strange to me. I didn't know why I was feeling groggy, and there was a metallic taste in my mouth.

I was taken into a large room with a large bed and everyone was asked not to disturb me.

I looked at myself in the mirror but could not recall who I was or how I got here. I felt threatened by the strange faces but strangely, unafraid. A male came in and looking at him, I felt like I was staring at myself. He was the only one the healer allowed near me. I felt close to him and knew he must be related to me.

'What's your name?' I asked curiously.

'Sylvester', he said. 'Your twin!'

That explains it then, I thought to myself. I had been told that my name was Christopher.

The healer kept giving me potions and being very friendly. I needed it right now, her friendliness, that is.

'I am a person of the outdoors', I told the healer I have come to know as Wendy, one day.

'How did you know that? Can you remember anything now?' she asked curiously.

'No, I can't!' I said puzzled. 'And I don't know how but I just know that I do!' She gave me an odd look but I was curious too. How did I know I liked the outdoors?

We started going for walks and jogs and soon I decided I wanted to eat with the others rather than in my room. I was starting to feel suffocated and claustrophobic, like I was in prison, my movements restricted. As I ate with them, I noted their names and called them by it and I noticed they always stared at me strangely like they were expecting something from me, especially the one called Millicent. She always looked at me like I had hurt her and I felt like I had let her down in some inexplicable ways. I felt a connection of some sort with her. This was insanity, I couldn't even remember the girl for goodness sake! Oh, I wish I could get my memories back.

One day however, I found that I couldn't take my eyes off her. And she kept looking at me as though communicating with me in some strange way. All of a sudden, it was as though, a curtain or a wall, shifted in my head and I recalled who she was.

'Millicent!' I called. She smiled at me, flashing her even white teeth. 'when did you come back?' I asked rising to go to her, I had missed her terribly when she ran off after our night of bliss. How could I ever have forgotten that? Forgotten her?

'Sit, Alpha Christopher, you don't need to exert yourself too much!' Wendy said, pulling my arm down, so I could sit.

I ignored her. I could remember her as well and wondered what she was doing here. 'My love, I knew you'd come back to me!' I said, then held my head, as more memories broke forth. 'Is Sylvester okay?'

'What is it, Christopher?' Millicent asked, abandoning her meal, she ran to me, putting her arms around me and I felt a kind of peace descend on me.

'Christopher dude, are YOU okay?' Sylvester asked emphatically.

'Great, bro!' I replied.

'This is what I was afraid of', Wendy said. 'I hope this doesn't hamper his progress!'

Millicent and Wendy started exchanging words, hauling accusations at each other. While all these was going on, I was in distress, my head aching badly and their bantering was not helping matters at all.

Millicent placed my head more firmly in her bossom, rubbing it soothingly and I felt peace and calm descending on me once more. Her touch was really therapeutic.

'Sylvester, is that you?'' I asked, holding on to Millicent's waist and looking amusingly at his brother. 'You look well!'

'I'm good, bro', Sylvester said smiling at me and ignoring the talkative women like I was.

'It is okay, you can leave him now!' Wendy said, pulling Millicent's hand away from my head, pushing her away from my body. Immediately, I felt something settle back into my head and a piercing pain made me hold my head in pain, moaning.

I did not hear much of anything they said after that but I felt better soon and I head something that got me really pissed.

'And you Wendy', Sylvester was saying 'I trusted you with the life and health of my dear brother and you are using your powers and spells on him? Preventing him from regaining his memories and recognizing his loved ones? How is that right?' he asked angrily.

'Alpha Sylvester, you are mistaken!' she protested but Sylvester raised his hands again for silence. 'I am talking and have not asked you to respond just yet. You do not interrupt your Alpha!'

'I'm sorry Alpha Sylvester!' Wendy said.

'You have done very well, Wendy', Alpha Sylvester continued. 'and we will remain forever grateful to you for this second chance Christopher has to life! But, your continued presence here is becoming detrimental, rather than beneficial to Christopher's health!'

Wendy stared at me as though asking if I were in support.

'I shall give you any amount in gold or cash that you ask for as a sign of my gratitude', Sylvester continued. 'but for the peace of the pack, you'll have to leave. We shall take it from here. We might invite you over again when things gets back to normal'.

'Are you asking me to leave?' Wendy asked, astonished. 'Christopher, your brother is asking me to leave because of this bitch Millicent!'

The argument started afresh and I was just not in the mood for that and why would they want my healer to go anywhere? I felt very protective about her all of a sudden. I needed her around me.

'Wendy isn't going anywhere!' I said.

'But Christopher..' Millicent started, shocked.

'Christopher, she must...' Sylvester began but I raised his hand for silence. 'I said, she isn't going anywhere and that's the end of the matter. Until I say otherwise, Wendy stays!' I ordered.

'Christopher, I can take care of you, myself', Millicent started. 'Our mate bo...'

'Oh please be quiet!' Wendy said. 'Go look after your pregnant self. And by the way, why are you suddenly so interested in Christopher?' she asked 'Were you not about to get married to Alpha Sylvester when I got here?' she asked.

I looked at the two people who were supposed to get married and could not understand the feelings that coaxed through me. 'Why didn't you?' I asked, amused. 'What stopped you?'

Both of them stared at each other and I felt a stab of jealousy. This was really ridiculous. What has their marital plans got to do with me?

I drew my eyes away from them before they could feel my jealousy and said, 'This meal is over. Take me back to my room, please?'

'Of course! My Alpha' Wendy said, leading the way.

'Don't worry, Wendy', Millicent said getting up to her feet and holding Wendy's hand to forestall her. 'I'll take him!'

Wendy tried to snatch her hands away from Millicent, who held on tight, looking at her threateningly.

'Miss O'Hara', I said looking at Millicent. 'You should busy yourself with your marriage preparations with your fiance. Don't let me stop you!'

Millicent's hand fell away from Wendy as she stared at me, shock registering in her eyes. I felt better somewhat by her reaction and called, 'Are you coming Wendy?'

'Yes, Christopher!' she said, following me up to my room.
